The banquet hall inside the hotel was a dazzling display of gold and crystal. Light refracted off the chandeliers, casting a shimmering glow over the elite crowd gathered below. The murmur of conversation rose and fell like a tide, dominated by one topic.
Guests whispered in awe about Griffin Drake’s extravagant spending. He had thrown money around like water just to win a smile from Jade York.
Some privately felt that Jade’s spoiled, delicate temperament was the complete opposite of the resilient spirit found in “Lily’s” writing. However, the wind of public opinion blew in a single direction. Since Griffin Drake had personally stepped into the ring, the copyright for this masterpiece would undoubtedly fall to Gale Entertainment.
In the corner of the room, a figure stood swallowed by shadows.
Caleb Stone pulled the brim of his baseball cap down low. He tugged the hood of his sweatshirt up over the cap, leaving only his chin visible. He blended perfectly into the dim background, a ghost haunting the edges of the celebration.
His dark eyes were fixed on Griffin, who stood in the center of the room looking arrogant and untouchable. Caleb knew exactly what that preening Alpha was thinking. Griffin wanted to swallow this project whole to rob Starlight Entertainment of its resources.
But Caleb also knew something Griffin didn’t. Griffin was destined to fail. Because “Lily” was Amelia Stone.
Deep inside Caleb’s chest, his wolf, Noah, let out a low, hostile whine. It was a sound of pure loathing for Griffin, mixed with the painful regret of not being able to stand proudly by his sister’s side.
Representatives from twenty–five different publishers filled the venue. Among them, Alpha Arthur York of Gale Entertainment stood tall, a smug grin plastered on his face. He had specifically brought Zachary Grant, the traitor who had just defected from Starlight, to publicly humiliate Amelia.
Zachary scanned the room with exaggerated theatrics..
“Would you look at that?” Zachary shouted, his voice carrying over the crowd. “Starlight Entertainment only sent a little secretary named Anya? Where is the big boss Amelia? Too

scared to show her face?”
Arthur laughed, turning to fawn over Griffin.

“She know she’s beaten,” Arthur sneered. “Amelia is just a dog that’s all bark and no bite.”
Seeing that Amelia still hadn’t appeared, the tension in Griffin’s shoulders relaxed. A wave of smug satisfaction washed over him.
Arthur seized the moment to flatter him further.
“And look at her fiancé,” Arthur scoffed. “Theodore Crimson used to be the ‘Golden Boy‘ of the North. Now? He’s just a cripple in a chair.”
Griffin soaked up the words like a dry sponge. He felt a surge of validation. He was finally stepping out of the shadows. He was no longer the supporting character living in someone else’s glory.

Meanwhile, at the hotel entrance, the automatic doors slid open.
Amelia pushed Theodore’s wheelchair toward the elevators. The lobby was quieter than the banquet hall, the polished floors reflecting their figures.
At the elevator doors, Amelia stopped. She walked around to the front of the chair and leaned down. Her fingers deftly adjusted the collar of Theodore’s suit, her touch lingering with a hint
of flirtation.
“Go on up,” she whispered, her blue eyes locking with his golden ones. “Go be a beautiful ‘trophy‘ and stun the room, Theodore. Make them tremble in their expensive shoes while I handle some boring paperwork.”
She smirked, smoothing his lapel. “And try not to scare Griffin too bad before I get there. I
want to see his face crumble with my own eyes.”
Theodore smiled, a look of pure indulgence. He accepted his mission as the distraction.
Amelia left him with Marcus and headed straight for the organizer’s private office.
Inside, the person in charge was waiting. He handed over the original manuscript for “Lily” and the contract. Then, with a grave expression, he slid a sealed, top–secret file across the
desk.
It was a dossier on the Drake family’s crimes.
Amelia opened it. The documents detailed a horrific operation. The Drake family had been

developing a banned substance overseas. It was a twisted mixture of addictive toxins and potent aphrodisiacs. The drug was designed to make werewolves lose their minds, turning them into docile slaves to be sold on the international black market or to rogue territories.
Amelia stared at the sickening evidence. Slowly, the corners of her lips curled up.
She didn’t look horrified. She looked dangerous.
She tossed the file back onto the coffee table with a light *thud*.
“Disgusting?” she murmured to the empty room. “No. It’s absolutely perfect.”
Her eyes flashed with a cold, predatory excitement. “This gives me a reason to stop playing the saint. Griffin thinks he’s playing the role of a mafia godfather. He has no idea he just signed his own death certificate.”
She stood up, smoothing her dress. “Bankruptcy is too good for him now.”
Inside her mind, Ava was no longer just angry. The silver wolf paced anxiously against the barriers of Amelia’s consciousness. Her claws raked against the mental walls, her voice dripping with venomous hate.
*Let me out,* Ava growled. *I want to bite out his throat. I want to taste his pulse stop between my teeth.*

The global livestream of the copyright meeting officially began.
The view count skyrocketed instantly. The camera panned across the opulent hall, capturing the faces of the elite. Suddenly, the lens landed on a figure near the entrance.
It was Theodore.
The comment section exploded.
*“Oh my goddess! Look at that aura!“*
*“Even in a wheelchair, he looks like a King.”
“*
*“He’s here for Amelia! He’s here to have her back!“*
The confrontation between Griffin and Theodore, the heirs of two top–tier families, instantly became the focal point of the entire event.
Alpha Arthur’s face turned pale the moment he saw Theodore. Griffin, however, darkened. He stared at the man in the wheelchair with gloomy eyes, convinced that Theodore was here to

Theodore was preparing to head to the second floor VIP area. He felt the weight of Griffin’s
provocative gaze.
He raised a hand. “Stop.”
Marcus halted the wheelchair immediately.
Theodore turned his head slowly. His golden eyes locked onto Griffin. There was no anger in his gaze, only a faint, mocking amusement.
“Griffin,” Theodore said, his deep voice cutting through the nearby chatter. “You’re here too.”
Griffin pursed his lips tight, refusing to respond to the man he considered a cripple.
Theodore didn’t mind the silence. He smiled, a sharp, knowing expression.
“I heard from my subordinates that you seem very interested in my brother, Ronan, lately,” Theodore said casually, though his voice carried clearly. “I heard you even sent people to the airport two days ago to try and ‘pick him up‘ for a return trip. I wonder… what special ‘private business‘ does Alpha Drake have with my brother?”
The air in the room froze.
Griffin’s face instantly turned beet red. His expression darkened like a thundercloud.
He remembered it vividly. He had acted on intelligence from Victor Crimson and sent a team to kidnap Ronan. It had been a disaster. The mission failed, and the Drake family had suffered heavy losses, losing several top–tier guards.
Being called out on it publicly was humiliating enough. But the context made it worse.
The representatives from other entertainment companies began to whisper. They exchanged glances, their minds instantly connecting Theodore’s words to the scandal that had broken just days ago–the indecent video involving Griffin and his uncle, Carlos.
The whispers grew louder, filled with ambiguous mockery.
“He’s interested in Theodore’s brother? What kind of interest?”
“You don’t think… he wants to make him the next Carlos?”
“Shh! Keep it down. The Drake family is vengeful.”
Griffin heard every word. The insinuation pierced his pride like a knife. He clenched his fists at his sides, his fingernails digging deep into his palms.
