Outside the booth, Damien frantically tried to slip past Natasha. She blocked him like a stubborn

gatekeeper, shifting left and right to cut off every escape route.

Damien’s patience snapped. He growled at her to get out of his way.

Natasha crossed her arms. Her expression dripped with contempt.

“No chance,” she said mockingly. “Don’t you have any self–awareness? The future Luna Amelia is in there on a date with Theodore. She doesn’t want anything to do with a pathetic ex like you.”

Damien glared at her furiously.

“This is none of your business!” he roared.

Natasha immediately let out an exaggerated yelp. She pointed an accusing finger at him.

“You hurt me when you knocked me down!” she shouted. “Now you’re trying to commit hit and

run!”

She pulled out her phone, waving it threateningly.

“If

you don’t take responsibility,” she continued, “I’m calling Alpha Bernard Blackwood right now. I’ll tell him you snuck out during your house arrest.”

Damien’s heart lurched. How did she know he was under house arrest?

Natasha almost slipped up. She quickly changed her story.

“Penelope told me,” she said hastily. “Your sister can’t keep a secret.”

She planted herself more firmly in his path.

“If you don’t take me to the hospital for a full examination,” she declared, “I’m staying right here.

And I’ll scream loud enough for the whole building to hear.”

Inside Damien’s mind, Finn thrashed wildly. The wolf urged him to charge into the booth and find

Amelia,

But Damien knew better. Causing a scene on Crimson territory would only make Amelia hate him

more.

He weighed his options. Every second wasted was another second Amelia spent with Theodore.

Finally, he bit out through clenched teeth, “Fine. I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Amelia sat holding a teacup. She smiled brilliantly at Theodore.

The warm, intimate scene stabbed through Damien’s chest like a blade.

invitations, claiming she was too busy preparing remedies in that shabby clinic.

She had never given him this kind of undivided attention. Never smiled at him like this.

Jealousy and resentment crashed through him like a tidal wave. His rationality shattered

completely.

He shoved Natasha aside. He burst through the door.

He stood before them, his eyes bloodshot. His voice trembled with desperation.

“Amelia,” he demanded, “I’m giving you one last chance to choose. Me–an unbroken Alpha–or this

cripple in a wheelchair?”

Amelia didn’t say a word. She simply stood up slowly.

Then, right in front of Damien, she leaned down. She kissed Theodore deeply on the lips.

The kiss wasn’t just affirmation. It was the cruelest rejection possible.

Damien felt his heart being crushed in an invisible fist. Inside his mind, Finn let out a desperate,

broken howl.

Then the wolf curled up in the depths of his consciousness. It went completely still.

Damien understood. He had lost. Utterly and completely.

He slammed his fist into the wall. Blood immediately seeped from his knuckles.

His silhouette looked unbearably desolate in that moment. But he knew he had no right to stay any longer.

His voice came out hoarse as he addressed Natasha at the door.

“I’ll take you to the hospital now,” he said.

He turned and strode away without looking back.

Theodore watched his retreating figure. He held Amelia’s hand gently.

“Looks like he’s finally learned to give up,” Theodore said quietly.

Down in the auction hall, the meeting officially began. Helena Shaw stood under the spotlight.

She announced that the copyright auction for Shadow Healer Lily’s new work would be

livestreamed across all platforms.

Before bidding started, Helena arranged a “blind evaluation” session. She invited representatives from major entertainment companies and publishers to share their adaptation ideas.

I sat in the upstairs booth, looking down through the one–way glass. I had a perfect view of the

entire hall.

A representative from Skyline Media spoke first. His tone was arrogant and dismissive.

“The original story is too idealistic,” he declared. “The female lead building her empire alone doesn’t make sense. We should drastically revise the script.”

He gestured grandly.

“Transfer the spotlight to the male lead,” he continued. “Or better yet, change the protagonist to a

male Alpha entirely.”

He looked around the room smugly.

“In werewolf society, only powerful Alpha males hold real power,” he stated. “Audiences want to see heroes saving damsels in distress. That’s what sells.”

My teacup nearly shattered in my grip. Ava roared furiously in my mind.

She wanted to charge downstairs and tear that self–righteous i***t apart.

Theodore noticed my rage. He patted my hand gently, soothing me.

His eyes signaled me to keep watching.

Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Some people nodded in agreement with Skyline Media’s

representative.

Then Skylar suddenly shot to her feet. She grabbed a microphone.

Her voice rang out clear and strong

“I completely disagree with Skyline Media’s assessment,‘ she declared. “The core soul of this novel is showing how a woman achieves her ambitions in a prejudiced werewolf society through intelligence and strength.”

She pointed at the representative accusingly.

Up in the booth, I nearly choked. I turned to look at Theodore.

He raised one eyebrow playfully.

“Have you been selling your employees some kind of pipe dream?” he asked with amusement.

I laughed helplessly. I’d never said anything like that

But Skylar’s ambition was exactly the kind I appreciated. If we were going to fight, we might as

well win spectacularly.

Showing any sign of weakness before the battle even started wasn’t my style.

Several other company representatives spoke next. Most of them echoed Skyline Media’s tired

clichés.

There was nothing original or interesting in their pitches.

Helena saw that the discussion was going nowhere. She smiled and raised her hand.

“The blind evaluation session is now concluded,” she announced. “Lily has heard all your perspectives. She will make her own judgment.”

She looked around the room.

“Now we will begin the formal bidding process,” she continued.

The Skyline Media representative jumped to his feet impatiently. He shouted across the hall.

His tone was mocking and aggressive.

I set down my teacup. I smoothed my dress carefully.

It was time to make my entrance,
