Chapter 244: Jaxon Refuses to Have Pups
(Amelia’s POV)
“No, Amelia. Since recognizing you as my daughter I have completely let it go.”

Seraphina gently wiped away a tear that was about to fall from the corner of her eye. Her voice was gentle, yet it carried a slight tremor.
“Actually, all along, the one who couldn’t let go of not having pups was me, not your father. Jaxon never felt that I owed him anything.”
She took a deep breath, her eyes softening as she recalled his words.
“He said that pups should be the crystallization of love. If I were willing to bear a child, he would love our pup because he loves me.”
Seraphina smoothed her dress, a wistful smile touching her lips.
“Your father often says that if a werewolf’s life is only for reproducing offspring, just finding any random She–wolf to bear his pups, then life would be too meaningless. In that case, we would just be reproductive machines controlled by the Moon Goddess, existing solely for the Pack’s population growth.”
I listened quietly, finding myself in agreement with his philosophy.
Life is fleeting. The bloodline is not the entire meaning of a werewolf’s existence. Every wolf has the right to choose their own way of life.
Seraphina urged me to go wash up, claiming she was fine. But as she turned to leave, I saw the smile fade from her face, replaced by a hidden loss.
I sat on the edge of the bed, watching her retreating figure. I didn’t get up immediately.
Green, my pet snake, slithered over. I stroked his cool scales absently.
I knew clearly that while my mother felt happy to have me, deep down, as a female, Seraphina still yearned to have a biological child of her own flesh and blood.
For animals, reproduction is a survival instinct, unmixed with emotion. But werewolves possess human emotions.
I thought about Seraphina’s condition. Although she was getting older, she was a She–wolf.
Her Wolf healing ability was still far stronger than that of an ordinary human. Theoretically, as long as it was combined with the appropriate Herbal remedies, conception was still possible.

It would be a high–risk pregnancy due to her age. However, I was the “Shadow Healer.”

I had absolute confidence in my medical skills, I could likely keep both mother and child safe.
But this matter had to be discussed with my father first.
*“Mom’s desire for a pup is as obvious as a heatwave in summer,** Ava yawned lazily in my mind. *“Amelia, if you can do it, why not help her?“*
I responded to Ava silently in my heart.
I stood up to wash. I deliberately chose a warm brown professional suit and applied light makeup
to look sharp for the day.
I picked up my bag and carried my pets downstairs
At the breakfast table, the atmosphere was peaceful.
“Dad,” I said, putting down my fork. “My car had some mechanical trouble yesterday and needs maintenance. Could you drive me to the company?
Jaxon nodded immediately. “Of course.”
Seraphina paused while pouring coffee. She seemed to sense there was more to my words, but
she didn’t point it out.
We finished eating and headed to the garage. The black sedan slid smoothly out of the Pack
House.
Once we were on the main road, Jaxon turned his head slightly to glance at me. He broke the
silence first.
“What happened with your mother?” he asked.
I looked at him, surprised by his perception.
“I could smell it on her when she brought your clothes,” Jaxon said, his voice low. “It was a mix of sadness and longing. We’ve been mates for thirty years. I know her scent.”
I decided not to hide it. I recounted the conversation Seraphina and I had in my room, word for
word.
Jaxon listened in silence. His hands gripped the steering wheel tighter. His gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, but his expression grew complex.
“Amelia,” he said finally, his voice rough. “I’m not as perfect as Seraphina thinks.”
He sighed heavily.
“As an Alpha, I did want pups that carried my own bloodline. It’s a natural instinct.”

“But it never became an obsession for me,” he continued firmly. “First, if it was because of my body that we couldn’t conceive, I know Seraphina would never break our bond. So, as a return of that
loyalty, I would never fail my Mate just because of a lack of offspring.”
He signaled and turned the car onto the highway.
“Secondly, the family didn’t put much pressure on me for inheritance. My brother Adrian has three
children. He has continued the Stone family bloodline.”
“Although Alpha Alaric wanted me to take power, I don’t have that obsession with passing family
assets only to a biological son. I don’t care about that legacy.”
Jaxon paused, his jaw tightening. A shadow passed over his eyes.
“The most important point,” he said, his voice dropping to a whisper, “is my own mother.”
“She died from a massive hemorrhage after giving birth to my sister. Even the healers were
helpless. She passed away so suddenly.”
I watched his profile, seeing the pain of that old memory.
“That incident left a huge psychological shadow on me,” Jaxon admitted. “I know the risks of
childbirth too well. Even when Seraphina had her surgery years ago, I was terrified.”
“If I were an only child facing the pressure of ending the bloodline, I can’t guarantee I’d be this firm,” he said honestly. “But I’m glad Adrian’s family shared that burden.”
He glanced at me with a warm smile. “And now we have you. Seraphina is already very happy. That
is enough for me.”
I listened to his heartfelt words, feeling a deep respect for him. But I knew I had to push, for
Seraphina’s sake.
“Dad,” I said tentatively. “Mom is happy to have me. But no matter how happy she is, her heart still longs for her own biological pup. It’s a female instinct.”
Jaxon froze for a second. “Amelia, what are you saying?”
I took a deep breath. I needed him to understand the medical reality.
“Dad, you know I learned a lot in the Meadow Brook Pack. I have confidence in my healing arts.”
I looked him in the eye.
“If I design a special regimen specifically for Mom, I am quite confident that I can help her successfully conceive a pup.”
Jaxon’s eyes widened.
“However,” I continued, watching his expression closely. “This does pose a certain risk to Mom.”

“Mom is at an advanced age for this. If it were a second child, it might be easier. But this would be
her first birth.”
I hesitated, then spoke the hard truth.
“The worst–case scenario… is that it could kill them both.”
*SCREECH!*
Jaxon slammed on the brakes.
The car skidded to a violent halt on the side of the road.
He turned his head sharply to face me. His eyes were stern, filled with a terrifying resolve I had
rarely seen.
“Don’t even think about it,” he interrupted, his voice shaking with intensity,
“At this age, I do not intend to have pups. Even if your mother wants to, I will absolutely not agree
to let her take that risk.”
He glared at me, the fear of losing her evident in his steel–grey eyes.
“I cannot lose my Mate.”
