Chapter 314: The Bet
(Adrian’s POV)
The room was dim, the only light coming from the glowing screen of my smartphone.
I held a cigar between my fingers, watching the smoke curl lazily into the stagnant air.
On the screen, a video played on a loop.
Livia, once the proud Luna of the Stone River Pack, was on her knees.
She wore rags that barely covered her shivering form. Her hair was a matted mess of mud and straw.
She looked more like a feral beast than a woman of high standing.
A bowl of swill sat on the dirty floor before her. It was a vile mixture of rotten leftovers that even an Omega would refuse to touch.
Yet, she plunged her hands into it, shoving the filth into her mouth with desperate, animalistic hunger.
She gagged, choking on the sour liquid, but forced herself to swallow.
A flicker of hesitation passed through my mind, but it vanished the moment I saw her lick the bowl clean.
Disgust flooded my veins, cold and absolute.
Is this the woman who stood by my side? She is nothing but a liability now.
I leaned back in the leather chair, taking a slow drag of the cigar.
My mind drifted back to the humiliation we faced just weeks ago.
When the Stone River Pack began to lose its footing, we had gone to the Moores–Livia’s birth family–begging for support,
I expected aid, I expected family loyalty.
Instead, we were met with closed doors and sneering faces.
The elders of the Moore family didn’t even grant us an audience. They sent their younger generation to mock us, laughing at our desperation.
They called me a failure. They called Livia a washed–up hag.
I clenched my jaw, the memory burning brighter than the ember of my cigar.
They refused to help her then. So why should I care about her now?
If her family won’t save her, then her death will serve a greater purpose.
She will be the stepping stone for my return to power. That is the only value she has left.

I crushed the cigar into the crystal ashtray, twisting it until the spark died.
My eyes narrowed as I formulated the next step.
I needed to be at the Stone Pack House for the birthday banquet.

Amelia, that abomination, would be celebrating her triumph. The Greys would be there. The Crimsons
would be there. Even those low–lives from the Meadow Brook Pack were on the guest list.
But I was exiled. I had no invitation.
I couldn’t just walk up to the gates. The security would be impenetrable.
I needed a way in.
I picked up my phone again, scrolling past the video of my broken wife.
My thumb hovered over a contact. Alpha Drake.
The Drakes were powerful. They would have access.
I dialed the number.

(Author’s POV)
High above the city, in the top–floor office of Starlight Entertainment, the mood was electric.
Amelia sat behind her desk, the final cut of the new music video playing on the large monitor.
Five new employees stood nearby, their faces flushed with exhaustion but eyes shining with pride.
The final beat dropped, a thunderous sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the room.
*“That’s it,“* Ava growled in Amelia’s mind, her tail wagging furiously. *“That sound will shred their eardrums. We are going to show them who the real Queen is.“*
Amelia smiled, reaching up to rub her temple, silently soothing the excited wolf.
“Good work, everyone,” she said.
A knock sounded at the door.
Anya, her assistant, hurried in. She held a tablet against her chest, her expression tight with anxiety.
“Alpha Amelia,” Anya said, her voice trembling slightly. “We have a problem.”
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”
“A poll has started on social media,” Anya explained, placing the tablet on the desk. “It’s a direct showdown between your new song and Caleb’s release.”
Amelia glanced at the screen.

The numbers were stark.
Caleb Stone: 23,450 votes.
Amelia Stone: 2,100 votes.

“The public sentiment is overwhelmingly against us,” Anya continued, wringing her hands. “Caleb has been a star for two years. His fan base is massive. The comments… they are saying Starlight is finished.”
She hesitated, biting her lip.
“Alpha,” Anya whispered. “Should we buy some bots? Just to boost the numbers a little? We can’t let it look
this bad before the launch.”
Amelia laughed softly, leaning back in her chair.
“No,” she said firmly.
“But-”
“I don’t waste budget on fake data,” Amelia said, her eyes flashing with a sharp, sapphire light. “Let them laugh. Let them think they have won.”
She stood up, walking to the window to look out at the city skyline.
“It is only when you strike back from the depths of adversity that the victory tastes sweet,” she said. “I want to make them eat their words. Every single one of them.”
Anya nodded, though her worry didn’t fully dissipate. She took the tablet and left the office.
Outside in the main workspace, a low murmur of voices erupted as soon as Anya emerged.
“What did she say?” one employee whispered.
“Are we going to do anything about the poll?” another asked. “My rent is due next week. If this company
folds…”
“Have faith,” Anya said, trying to sound more confident than she felt. “Alpha Amelia knows what she is
doing.”
Inside the office, Amelia ignored the commotion.
She pulled out her phone and opened the exclusive chat app used by the elite.
She scrolled to the group named “Capital Storm.” It had been silent for her for a long time.
She typed a message and tagged a specific user.
*@LucasLloyd*
Her fingers danced over the keyboard.
*Amelia: “Tick tock, Lucas. The deadline is approaching. Starlight isn’t bankrupt. In fact, we are dropping a
bomb tomorrow.“*

She hit send, then added another line.
*Amelia: “Is your collar ready? I am looking forward to walking you down the main avenue of the Northern
Territories.“*
The group chat exploded with reaction emojis.
Moments later, a reply popped up.
*LucasLloyd: “Keep dreaming, bitch. Your song is going to tank. I’ve already ordered a pair of custom
shoes with spikes on the soles. Wash your tongue. You’re going to be licking them clean.“*
Amelia scoffed at the screen.
Suddenly, a new message appeared from a familiar name.
*NatashaCrimson: “Omg! Is the show finally starting? Count me in! I want front row seats to see Lucas
barking like a dog!“*
