Chapter 404: Enraged Griffin
Chapter 404: Enraged Griffin
(Griffin’s POV)
“What do you mean missing?” I roared, my voice cracking under the strain of my injuries.
The butler, usually so composed, looked down at his polished shoes, his hands clasped tightly together. “Master Lance came to visit while you were sleeping,” he stammered, sweat beading on his forehead. “He saw your condition and flew into a rage.”
I gripped the bedsheets, my knuckles turning white. “Go on.”
“He swore he would handle the trouble for you,” the butler continued, his voice trembling. “He said Miss Stone needed to pay for what she did. I tried to stop him, Alpha. I begged him to wait until you were
recovered.”
“And?” I hissed, feeling a vein throb in my temple.
“He brushed off my warning and stormed out,” the butler admitted, looking miserable. “He wouldn’t listen
to reason. I was worried he would be reckless, so I sent men to follow him immediately.”
“If you had men on him, why is he missing?” I demanded, my voice rising to a shout that echoed in the
sterile room.
The butler winced. “He… he shook them off. Master Lance is cunning when he wants to be. My men lost
him within the hour.”
“And you waited until now to tell me?” I threw a glass of water off the bedside table. It shattered against
the wall, sending shards skittering across the floor.
“I didn’t think it was my place to disturb your recovery with Stone family matters,” the butler said, stepping
back. “You were in critical condition. I didn’t want to add to your burden, so I waited.”
“You fool!” I screamed, ignoring the searing pain in my chest. “Do you know who Amelia Stone is? If
anything happens to Lance because of your delay, I will not forgive you.”
I threw the covers off my legs. A sharp agony shot through my ribs, making me gasp, but the rage burned
hotter than the pain.
“Alpha, please, you need to rest,” the butler cried out, rushing forward.
“Help me up,” I ordered through gritted teeth, struggling to sit. “We are going to the Stone house to find
him.”
(Amelia’s POV)
The scent of medicinal herbs filled the quiet room. I focused entirely on the acupuncture needles in my
hand, carefully inserting them into Theodore’s paralyzed legs.

Suddenly, the phone on the desk buzzed. It was Marcus.
Theodore glanced at the screen but didn’t answer immediately. He let me finish the row of needles before
picking up.
“Speak,” Theodore said calmly.
“Victor is downstairs,” Marcus’s voice came through. “He is demanding to see you.”
Theodore checked his watch. “Let him wait.”
“Understood.”
“Thirty minutes,” Theodore added before hanging up.
Exactly half an hour later, the heavy oak doors banged open. Victor stormed in, his face purple with rage.
“Theodore!” Victor bellowed. “You treacherous snake!”
Theodore sat in his wheelchair, cleaning his glasses with a silk cloth. “Good afternoon, cousin.”
“Don’t play dumb with me!” Victor slammed a stack of papers onto the desk. “My shipment from Africa
was seized at customs this morning. They found contraband hidden in the ore containers!*
“That sounds unfortunate,” Theodore said, his golden eyes cold.
“Unfortunate? It’s a disaster!” Victor shouted. “The entire batch of rare metals is confiscated. You did this.
You planted those goods.”
“Do you have proof?” Theodore asked, his voice dropping.
“I don’t need proof!” Victor paced around the room. “The family meeting is coming up. Your headquarters‘ performance has been mediocre, while my African metal business flourishes. You wanted to sabotage our
numbers before the review.”
Theodore finally looked at him. “If I wanted to destroy you, I wouldn’t use such a clumsy method. Check
your own people. Perhaps your subordinates took a bribe.”
Victor gritted his teeth. “I will investigate. But mark my words. If I find even a trace of your involvement, I
am going straight to Alpha King Gideon.”
Victor stormed out, slamming the door.
I waited until his footsteps faded. Then I stepped out from the medical partition.
“What do you think?” I asked.
Theodore turned his wheelchair to face me. “Victor’s men are experienced. They wouldn’t make a mistake
like that. This has Zane Jenkins written all over it.”
I crossed my arms. “You knew, didn’t you? You knew Zane would target the African business.”
“It was inevitable,” Theodore admitted. “The energy and finance sectors are too hard to touch. But the

African transport line relies on corrupt officials. It is the easiest link to break.”
“You want to use this to weaken Victor’s control,” I realized.
“Yes,” Theodore said. “But it is dangerous. Regardless of the truth, Victor will go to Gideon. If the charge sticks, my standing as the heir would crumble. Even if I prove I’m innocent, you would inevitably be dragged into the crossfire.”
“I’m not afraid,” I said.
Theodore smiled faintly. “I know. But we need to strike back. We must use his political enemies.”
He wheeled himself over to the massive floor–to–ceiling window. “I found it. The opportunity we need.”
I walked over to him. “What is it?”
He looked down at the traffic–filled streets below. “He will serve as the representative of the patrol team.
He will host an internal review starting next April.”
“How long?”
“One and a half months,” Theodore said. “Four months – more than enough time to dig up every last piece
of dirt on Zane Jenkins and bury him with it.”
I stood beside him, looking out at the same view. “Good. I’ll gather the evidence. You handle bringing it
before Gideon.”
