Chapter 154
Aires’ POV
I step away from them and pick up the phone, my voice low and calm. “Go ahead.”
Bruno’s voice comes through.
“Alpha, I have a friend who asked me to help track down someone. A video of a certain violin performance was noticed by a musician named Gerard Adler from abroad. Gerard was so impressed that he wanted to find this person. After some searching, he ended up coming back to me with a message…”
He pauses. “And it turns out, the violinist is Mrs.
Perseus.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Gerard Adler?”
Bruno’s voice gains energy. “Mr. Adler is a legend in Ferrampton, a violin virtuoso who has won a lifetime achievement award. He is a huge figure in the music world. While attending a conference in Zenithara, he happened to see Mrs. Perseus’ violin video and ow wants
a invita honto his mucie oxabange event.”

Perseus catches his eye, her future in music will be limitless.”
I remain silent. The words settle in my chest, heavy and unfamiliar. Talia? A virtuoso wants to meet Talia. The
same man who refused to consider Imema.
Bruno waits. I can tell he expected a different reaction. Enthusiasm, perhaps? Or pride. But I keep my voice cold.
“Tell them the person they were looking for has not been found, but we do have another talented violinist who is worth introducing.”
There is a pause. “Should not we let Mrs. Perseus know about this first?”
“No need.”
“But-”
“There is no but.” My tone hardens. “Do it as I said. She is too busy with Aeson to bother with these trivial invitations.”
Bruno sighs quietly. I hear the reluctance in it, the 13:00
unspoken objection.

He takes another pause, longer this time.
“I have heard Mr. Adler is notoriously difficult to please. The person he was looking for is Mrs. Perseus. If we recommend Ms. Volkov, he might not even take her seriously…”
I let the silence stretch. Something coils in my chest, tight and uncomfortable. I push it down.
“Arrange a meeting with Mr. Adler,” I say finally. “I will handle the conversation myself.”
Bruno sighs again, resigned. “Understood.”
Talia’s POV
Electra bursts out laughing, the sound echoing through the room. She clutches her stomach, tears forming at the corners of her eyes. “Hahahaha! Imema and Nick really swallowed that concoction made from foot bath water
and cockroaches?”
I remember the scene and smile, nodding. “They did. Nick
even volunteered to test it first.”

We laugh together, and for a moment, the weight of everything lifts. It feels good to laugh like this. Like we are getting away with something.
After a while, Electra’s expression shifts. She grows serious. “Talia, your performance was already scheduled, right? Why the sudden delay?”
I frown, setting down the herbs I have been sorting. “Mr. Carter said that since I am in the middle of a divorce with Aires, I should take care of my personal matters before continuing with any work.”
Electra looks confused. “Does he think Aires might cause trouble?”
I find it strange too, though I am not overthinking it. “Maybe Nick is the real problem. Since he lost to us, Mr. Carter probably worries Nick might cause trouble. He does not want to make waves.”
Electra nods slowly. “That makes sense. Nick is like a rabid dog with no brains. It is better to steer clear of him.” She pauses, then leans in. “By the way…”
Her voice drops slightly. “Do you remember Mr Adler?”

“Yes.” Electra nods, her eyes intent. “Your mother’s teacher. I have heard that Mr. Adler came to Zenithara
recently.”
I know Gerard well, though we have never met. At sixty-five, he is one of the most respected figures in the music world. Globally. As a young man, he was a musical prodigy, mastering every instrument, able to play any piece perfectly after hearing it just once. At fifty, after several health scares, he decided to retire.
Even though he stepped away from the stage, his legacy never faded. He started mentoring young musicians, and in his lifetime, he only took on a handful of students. The students who came out of his tutelage are all now major players in the music world.
His criteria for selecting disciples are simple. Extraordinary musical talent.
My mother was one of his students.
Electra looks at me carefully. “Talia, five years ago, Mr.
Adler extended an invitation to you. But back then, you were pregnant with Aeson and planning your wedding, so you turned him down.”

She continues, “I think he was considering taking you under his wing. Now that he is in our country, should we try to get in touch with him? Given your mother’s connection to him, he might be willing to mentor you.”
Electra sighs heavily. “If you had accepted Mr. Adler’s/ invitation back then, you would be one of the top musicians in the industry by now. But instead, the Perseus family keeps putting you down because of your lack of formal education and career.”
When I was pregnant, I had severe morning sickness. I had to put all my work on hold. I planned to return after giving birth, but Aeson arrived prematurely, and I decided to stay home to care for him. In those five years, I missed out on many opportunities.
I shake my head. “I have heard my mom say that Mr. Adler is strict and inflexible. He hates it when people try to push others onto him through connections. My mom had a very talented younger colleague, but she got kicked out of Mr. Adler’s mentorship because she tried to do just
that.”
Electra leans forward, intrigued. “What happened? Tell me more.”
