I turn to leave, but my gaze lingers on Talia. Something pulls at me. “I have got to go. Pick what you want. Charge it to my account.”

Bruno is quite bad at hiding his emotions, and right now, I can practically see his shock written on his face in bold lettering to see the change in my attitude toward Talia.

But this isn’t just about the bracelet, is it? This is my attempt at making amends.

Talia’s POV

After Aires leaves, I pull out my phone and call Electra. “Electra, let’s hit the stores. I am picking up the tab today, get whatever you want.”

An hour later, Electra stands beside me, still wide-eyed as she watches me going from shop to shop. Designer bags hang from her arms.

Her eyes keep darting to the price tags, then back to me. “Talia, are you sure this is okay?”

I give her a reassuring smile. “Don’t you worry. After today, Nick will do whatever it takes to get me and Aires divorced.”

I pick up a necklace, examine it, then set it down. “He will not dare mess with me anymore.”

Electra tilts her head. “Didn’t Nick want you and Aires to get divorced more than anyone? Now that it is finally happening, why is he trying to sabotage it?”

I pause. “Of course, there is another possibility.”

Electra leans in. “What possibility?”

I lower my voice. “That Richard is lying to me.”

Electra does not even hesitate. “The first possibility seems more likely. Richard isn’t a foolish man like Nick. If he went out of his way to meet you, he would not tell a lie that could be exposed so easily.”

She frowns. “But, still… It’s better to be safe than sorry. What if Richard really is lying?”

I shrug. “Actually, it doesn’t matter. Honestly, I have had

it with Nick.”
