Author’s POV
Nick’s actions only made things more suspicious. Netizens
who had been watching the live stream noticed it was cut off, as if they had uncovered something.
The live stream was cut after Talia revealed the truth! Oh my god, I have stumbled onto something huge!
Starlight City Morning News is still live. Head over to their
stream!
By the way, the reporter who attacked Talia earlier is also
live. His bias is so obvious. Let us call him out!
Aires is such a scumbag! He can love Imema, and he can divorce his ex–wife. But if he had any conscience, he would give his ex–wife proper compensation instead of being generous to Imema and stingy with his own wife!
When I first heard the story of Aires and Imema, I was moved, thinking he was a man of deep loyalty. He does not have to love his wife, but he should not be so heartless.

At this moment, not only did the online narrative about
Talia shift, but public perception of Aires also underwent a
dramatic transformation.
One fan tried to defend him. Aires being harsh to Talia just shows how devoted he is to Imema! Do you really prefer someone who is nice to everyone?
Did you get something wrong? another netizen shot back. Talia is not just anyone. She is his lawful wife, okay? She even
bore him a son. Are you saying he needs permission from a mistress to treat his wife decently? Are you out of your mind?
Our goddess Imema is not a mistress! Talia is the one who swooped in as the mistress!
Sure, your goddess Imema is not a mistress. She just spends
all her time with a married man. How pure and innocent of
her!
Realizing they had no ground to stand on, the fans quickly
changed their tune. What does Aires being a scumbag have to do with our Imema? She is a victim too, okay? She was deceived by Aires.
At the scene, the entertainment reporters who had been 2/7

targeting Talia looked utterly defeated, finally running out
of arguments. The higher–ups had only instructed them to bring Talia down as quickly as possible. How could they have known there were so many layers to this story? Today was truly a disaster for them.
One reporter, unwilling to let the opportunity slip, pressed on.
“Even if the money is legitimate, you are still suspected of a
crime. Otherwise, why would the police be after you?”
The police officers, who had been observing from the
sidelines, looked uneasy after hearing the full story from the
crowd. One of them leaned toward his captain, keeping his
voice low. “Captain, Talia has already donated all the funds
in her account to charity. Freezing her account now seems
pointless, does it not? And all the items she purchased were
donated to the National Museum. If we demand them back,
they will not hand them over, right?”
Another officer added, “People like Talia, who publicly
announce donations, face legal consequences if the
donations turn out to be fraudulent. What is more, she
has proven that the money was obtained legally. Trying
to reclaim the donations now would not only offend the
charities but also the National Museum.” He paused. “And the
public will not stand for it either.”

The officers found themselves in a tough spot. They had
received reports that Talia had leaked trade secrets and was
suspected of financial crimes. Normally, her accounts would
be frozen. But Talia had acted swiftly, donating all her money and possessions. She had done a great deed by donating
such a large sum. And now they were supposed to stand against the people? Was that not just asking for trouble?
Hearing the reporter’s question, Talia’s gaze settled on him. A faint smile played on her lips.
Meeting her gaze, the reporter felt a sudden unease, an
inexplicable sense of foreboding. He suddenly realized that, from the start, Talia had been effortlessly dismantling every
accusation they had thrown at her. She had even presented
solid evidence, far more convincing than their baseless
claims. Had this evidence been posted online, it would
have been swiftly erased. But now so many reporters were live–streaming the event.
The reporter was struck with a sudden realization. What difference was there between this and a press conference to
clear her name? No, there was a difference. The difference
was that, at a press conference, the truth would never have
gotten out.

Now, by leveraging her identity as a donor, she had maximized her visibility. Even if she were banned across
the internet, her one–billion–dollar donation was being reported by government agencies. Who would dare to block the accounts of state–run media? To the official media, the
so–called scandals about Talia online were nothing but
trivial, baseless gossip. A donation of this magnitude was worth publicizing. The government actively encouraged charitable acts. And Talia was the perfect poster child.
Talia could have done good deeds anonymously. But
by attaching her name, she took on the corresponding
responsibilities.
Public donations were a serious matter. She had to donate
exactly what she pledged. As long as the money was obtained legally, no one could touch it. Not even Talia herself.
Otherwise, it would be a violation of the law.
Talia’s POV
I turn to the police officer. “Officer, may I ask what crime I am suspected of committing?”

The officer meets my gaze, his voice professional. “You have
been accused of leaking trade secrets and colluding with
competitors. The accuser provided evidence of your contact with competitors. Given the substantial sums involved, we
must investigate thoroughly. Please co–operate.”
I nod. “So, this does not confirm that I have committed a
crime, right?”
He nods back. “That is correct. But since we have received
a report, we must investigate. We appreciate your
understanding.”
“I will assist with the investigation,” I say, my voice calm. “But
may I offer a few words of explanation first?”
The officer glances at the surrounding reporters. I see the calculation in his eyes. As a public figure who has donated such a large sum, the police do not want to wrongfully accuse me or tarnish my reputation.
He says, “While the hearing will not be public, you may address the public.”
“Thank you.” I turn to the reporter who questioned me. “The police have only asked for my cooperation, not confirmed 6/7
