Chapter 193
Author’s POV
While facing the camera, Talia displayed a very calm and
composed persona. The audience watched her, captivated
by her elegance and wit.
Some who rarely went online stumbled upon the drama, tried
to follow her, and found her account banned. Feeling curious,
they dug deeper and discovered Electra’s post.
Suddenly, the story of Talia being targeted by powerful forces but fighting back sparked a massive wave of support. Influencers who had resisted corporate pressure and been
banned for no reason came forward to back her.
At that moment, Talia’s popularity soared through the roof,
like an unstoppable force that was determined to carry her
name till the high heavens.
Talia’s POV
The police question Aires and me again in detail. They go
over the records, the payments, the timeline. When they confirm I am not involved in corporate espionage, they 15:25

apologize.
“Ms. Jackson, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”
I nod. “It is fine. Cooperating with investigations is every
citizen’s duty.” I pause. “However…”
I let the word hang. “If I had not cleared my name today, I
would likely be vilified by the public, and my career would
be ruined. The person who maliciously reported me had ill
intentions. I hope the police will deal with them seriously.”
The officer nods solemnly. “Ms. Jackson, rest assured. We will
not let this malicious whistleblower off lightly.”
I nod and open my mouth to say more. Then my wrist is
grabbed.
I turn to the man beside me. “Mr. Perseus, what is it?”
During the investigation, Aires did not try to slander me. He
helped clear my name. I feel no gratitude. I only feel that
the man before me is far more dangerous than I imagined. Compared to Nick, someone like Aires is much harder to deal
with. No one can ever tell what he is thinking.

His gaze is deep, unfathomable. “I would like to talk to you
alone.”
I know the matter between us has to be settled. I do not have
time to play mind games with Nick and the others. “Fine.”
We go to a nearby café. I order a coffee and look at him.
“What do you want to talk about?”
His dark, inscrutable gaze settles on my face. “Did you have
this planned ever since the auction?”
Though phrased as a question, his tone is certain.
The bitter aroma of coffee fills the air. I take a sip. “Why
would you so willingly give me that one billion dollars? Why
would Nick and Imema just watch me live like a wealthy
woman?” I set the cup down. “You were all just waiting for me
to fall. The first step was to make me lose that money.”
I look at him. “So, I had no choice but to ensure you would
never get your hands on that money again.”
A coldness flickers in Aires’s eyes. “Talia, have you considered that if you donate all that money and fail to uphold our
agreement, you will be saddled with a billion–dollar debt?” 3/6

I smile. “Haven’t you thought that since I dared to donate it, I
am not afraid of the debt?”
He raises a sharp brow. “So, you are betting that I will not do
anything to you, is that it?”
I pause. Then I laugh. “Aires, do you think too highly of yourself? You will not do anything to me? You blocked me online, spread scandals about me, ruined my reputation, and
even tried to send me to jail.” I shake my head. “And you call
that ‘not doing anything to me‘?” My voice sharpens. “Aires,
when did you become so shameless?”
His eyes darken. He opens his mouth, but I cut him off coldly.
“You are going to say you did not do these things, right? But even if it was not you, you did not stop it. You let Nick use these disgusting tactics on me while you stood by, waiting for the right moment to strike.”
I set my coffee cup down with a sharp clink. “Aires, you all
make me sick.”
A strange glint flashes in his eyes.

I look at the man before me. “I know what you want to talk
about. You want me to let Nick go, but I am telling you, that is not happening.” My voice is steady. “He targeted me repeatedly, and you turned a blind eye. Now that he is reaping what he sowed, you come to talk to me? If you had
known this would happen, why did you not stop him earlier?”
I let the mockery seep into my tone. “It is because he has you,
his loyal buddy who always cleans up his messes, that he has
become so reckless. That he has ended up like this, I can only
say Nick deserves it.”
I meet his eyes. “I know you have the power to exonerate Nick
easily. I don’t care about what you do anymore. I follow the
old saying, which goes: ‘If you want to destroy someone, first
let them go mad.‘ I should thank you for pushing Nick down this path of no return, indirectly helping me get my revenge.”
I stand slowly, my eyes locked on his. “As for why I am not
afraid of owing a billion dollars, it is because I know Imema is
not dying. From the very beginning, she never had a terminal
illness.”
I do not expect him to take my words at face value, after all,
Imema’s charms have a better effect than that.

But at least, the seed of doubt is planted in his heart. Sooner
or later, it will take root- I’m confident in that.
