From the moment I could hold a brush, my strokes were

precise. From the moment I touched the piano keys, my fingers found the right notes without being told. Raised with the best education since childhood, I excelled in all the

refined skills. Painting. Calligraphy. Music. The piano, in particular, came effortlessly to me. It sang under my hands like it had been waiting for me all along.

My major in music was the same as Talia’s, piano. But I have always been better. Dad loves the sound of the piano, and I learned to play for him, to please him, to secure my place in

his affections.

Through my brothers, I discovered that Serena, Talia’s mother, had once been a remarkable pianist. A woman of talent and grace, by all accounts.

I suspect that Sean’s insistence on me studying the piano had something to do with Serena. Perhaps he wanted to hear her,

I never considered her a threat.

I grew up in the highest echelons of society. The best schools, the finest tutors, the most exclusive circles. Resources were never something I had to fight for. They simply appeared, laid out before me like a banquet.

Though I was born illegitimate, I am still Sean’s daughter. He claimed me, raised me, gave me his name and his protection. Talia, despite being born to Sean’s wife, lost her inherent advantage somewhere along the way.

As Ryeson and I speak, we are joined by his twin brother, Harris. He walks in with the easy confidence of someone who

owns every room he enters.

“What is the conversation about?” Compared to Ryeson’s cold

demeanor, Harris is much more outgoing. His gaze sweeps across the table, and he notices the freshly brewed coffee

sitting on the sideboard. Without hesitation, he picks up a cup and drinks deeply.

“I was just feeling thirsty.” He sets the cup down with a satisfied sigh. “I will help myself.”

I smile and pour him another cup, my movements smooth

and practiced. “We were discussing Anavia.”

Harris pauses mid–sip, his brows raising slightly. “Talia?”

I notice his choice of name. Even though Sean officially changed Talia’s name to Anavia upon her return to the family, Harris still calls her by her original name. I know that Harris has never truly regarded Talia as his sister. To him, she is an interloper. An inconvenience.

Harris seems to grasp the situation quickly. A smirk spreads across his handsome face. “So, she contacted Dad, asking to come back?” He chuckles. “Not surprising. She has had a tough time out there. It is only natural that she would want to return and reclaim her status as a wealthy heiress.”

I look at him, keeping my expression neutral. “Has she really been struggling? From what I have seen, she is doing quite well in Zenithara.” I pause, letting my words settle. “She is not only a charity ambassador but also an influencer with

millions of followers.”

Harris chuckles again, shaking his head. “After Dad heard about Talia’s recent success, he has been considering bringing her back.” He settles into a chair across from me. “So, he asked me to look into her past five years.”

He leans back, crossing his arms. “And guess what I found?”

Ryeson, for once, shows a hint of curiosity. His eyes sharpen. 4/8

“What did you find?”

Harris’s smirk widens. “Talia got married and had a child five years ago.” He pauses for effect. “Her ex–husband is none

other than the famous Aires from Zenithara.”

Ryeson and I are both stunned. I feel my composure flicker

“Anavia got married?” I set my cup down carefully. “And had

a child?”

Ryeson adds, his voice sharper than usual, “Ex–husband? They divorced so quickly?”

Harris nods, clearly enjoying the reaction. “They just got

divorced recently. The reason…” He shrugs. “It seems to be Aires’s ongoing involvement with his first love.”

He leans forward. “After our father found out that he had a

grandson, he was overjoyed. He is already preparing a gift to

meet Talia’s son.”

I furrow my brows, processing this information. “The Perseus family is also a powerful force in Zenithara.” I choose my words carefully. “How did Anavia manage to marry Aires?” 5/8

I do not say it outright, but the meaning is clear. Given Talia’s status, it would be difficult for her to marry someone like Aires. Wealthy families care about status and matching backgrounds. They care about bloodlines and connections. For a man as accomplished as Aires, the expectations would be even higher.

Harris’s eyes glint with understanding. “If she were a daughter of the Nelson family, marrying Aires would not have

been an issue.”

Ryeson and I catch his implication immediately.

Ryeson asks, his voice low, “You are saying she told Aires her real identity?”

Harris spreads his hands. “If she were not from the Nelson family, how could Aires possibly marry her?” He tilts his head. “Even if she was already pregnant, he would have made her get rid of it.”

“Already pregnant?” Ryeson picks up on the significance of the words. His expression darkens. “An out–of–wedlock pregnancy?” He shakes his head. “How could she have done something so shameless?”

He glances at me. “Last time, she claimed someone framed her. But now it seems she was the one who seduced

Reginald.”

“Ryeson, let us not bring up the past.” I steer the conversation gently, smoothly. There is no point in rehashing old wounds. “Since it is an out–of–wedlock pregnancy, it is likely that Aires did not dare offend the Nelson family after finding out her true identity. That is why he married Anavia.”

Harris nods lightly. He agrees with my assessment.

He continues, “Even if they got married by force, the difference in their backgrounds is immense. Their values and views on life will not match. It is hard to see them lasting.”

I correct him, keeping my voice mild. “Harris, Anavia and Aires are still a good match.”

Harris smiles, but there is no warmth in it. “That is not what I mean. They grew up in completely different environments. The chances of them making it together are very low.”

He leans back. “After going through a failed marriage, she finally feels that her family is a better place.” He glances at
