Chapter 234
Talia’s POV
+7 Bonus
The people of the Nelson family were different from the people of this pack.
Even Nick openly sneers at me and makes no effort to hide his contempt. But on the other hand, my three brothers and my half–sister never said anything cruel to my face. They
never shouted or insulted or mocked.
But their disdain came through in other ways. In their
actions. In their behavior.
They were distant and polite with me, careful and measured, like I was a stranger they had to tolerate. With Odette, they were affectionate and indulgent, warm and playful, always
touching her shoulder or laughing at her jokes.
I knew they had never considered me a true sister. To them, I was just a stranger with blood ties. An inconvenience. An
obligation.
But the true embarrassment came when that event
happened…

I am about to continue my thoughts, to let the memory surface, when Rafael’s voice interrupts me.
“Then, let us go together on the day of the music symposium.”
I snap back to reality, pushing the past back down where it belongs. “Okay.”
Aires‘ POV
I step into Imema’s studio and stop short. The place is a
disaster. Paint splattered everywhere. The acrid smell of chemicals hangs heavy in the air, making my eyes sting.
Nick is already there, hovering around Imema like a nervous
shadow. His voice is loud, indignant.
“Imema, do not worry. I will definitely find the person who
vandalized your studio!”
Imema does not respond. She just sits there, her head
lowered, dabbing at her eyes with a tissue. Her shoulders shake slightly.
As soon as I enter, Nick looks at me like I am a lifeline thrown

to a drowning man.
“Alpha, look!” He gestures wildly at the walls. “Someone has
retaliated against Imema. They splashed paint all over her
studio!”
I do not need Nick to elaborate. I can see the words for
myself, scrawled across the walls and doors in thick, ugly
strokes.
[Imema is a seductress!]
[Imema is a shameless home–wrecker!]
[A mistress who steals another woman’s husband. Garbage!]
The scathing words are sloppily painted in red, the color
almost like blood. The effect is shocking, almost like a curse
written in viscera. The nauseating stench of the paint fills my
nostrils, and I have to resist the urge to cover my face.
My expression darkens. “Have you checked the surveillance? Do you know who did it?”
Nick, still thinking clearly despite his agitation, responds quickly. “Yes, the surveillance cameras at Imema’s studio

were destroyed beforehand.” He pauses. “But the cameras at
the building entrance were still intact.”
His jaw tightens. “However, the person was well–prepared. They were fully covered, and we could barely see their face.
We could only see four men, posing as workers, carrying paint buckets inside.”
Imema lifts her head. Her eyes are red from crying, her cheeks blotchy. Beneath the grief, I see a flash of anger.
“I do not know what I did wrong to deserve this.” Her voice
trembles. “This is my workplace. My sanctuary. And they
have ruined it.”
Nick’s fury boils over. “Who else could have done this besides
Talia?” He paces back and forth. “I heard she has been
preparing for her own concert lately. It is definitely her. She
cannot stand your success!”
I do not immediately agree with Nick’s assumption.
Something about it feels too convenient. Too neat.
“I will have people investigate this carefully,” I say.
Nick frowns, clearly frustrated. “Alpha, Imema has only just 4/7

returned. She is unfamiliar with Starlight City and has no friends here, other than us.” He spreads his hands. “Who else could she have made an enemy of recently? It is obvious!”
He gives me a pointed look, his eyes narrowing. “Alpha, do not tell me… you are still going to defend Talia?”
I raise an eyebrow. “When have I ever defended her?”
Nick’s confidence surges. “How much trouble has Talia caused for us lately? With your power, it would be easy to crush her. Yet you have not done anything. You have just let her off the hook.” He crosses his arms. “If you are not defending her, then what is it?”
My expression remains cold, unreadable. “To accuse someone, you need evidence. If you think I am defending her, feel free to call the police. See if they will arrest Talia based
on your assumptions.”
Nick’s confidence falters slightly. His shoulders drop. But he still argues, his voice stubborn. “Even without evidence, this
incident must be linked to Talia!”
I turn to Imema. “What do you think?”

Imema is quiet for a moment, thinking. Her fingers twist the
tissue in her lap.
“It does not matter whether Ms. Jackson is the one behind
this or not.” Her voice is soft, measured. “What matters is that my studio has been destroyed. This will affect both my practice and the concert.”
She glances around at the ruined walls, the splattered floors. “Renovating and dealing with the smell will take a long time.” She gently lowers her head, her expression melancholy. “I am afraid I may not have that much time left.”
Nick immediately jumps in. “Imema, stop saying such things. Jack’s medicine has been working for you, right?” His voice is urgent, pleading. “Do not worry. You will recover.”

I consider the problem, turning it over in my mind. “You can find a studio that has already been renovated to work in temporarily.” I pause. “After the concert, you can move to a
new one.”
For now, it seems like the best plan. Practical. Efficient.
Imema nods lightly, her expression still troubled but slightly
eased.
Nick sneers, his anger finding a new target. “Some people will stop at nothing to steal the audience and traffic. They will even resort to such despicable tactics!”
He turns to me, his voice rising. “Alpha, I heard Talia’s concert
is also scheduled for three months from now.” His eyes
narrow. “She is deliberately trying to sabotage Imema!”
