Alpha’s Discarded Luna
Chapter 236
Talia’s POV
I turn to face Electra fully. The afternoon light catches the dust motes floating between us. “What is it?”
Electra leans against the doorframe, her expression thoughtful. “Someone contacted me. They want to invite you to be their exclusive composer.”
Normally, Electra would have turned down such offers for me without a second thought. She knows my stance on these things. She knows I value my independence. But this time, she made an
exception.
She lowers her voice, even though we are alone. “At first, I rejected it for you.” She pauses, her eyes widening slightly. “But the amount they offered is just too much. So I wanted to check with you first.”
I ask casually, keeping my voice light, “How much?”
Electra answers, her words measured, like she is still trying to process the number herself. “One hundred million dollars.”
I freeze. For a moment, I think I misheard. The number echoes in my ears, impossible and unreal. 1/7

“What?”
Electra repeats, slower this time, as if savoring each syllable. “One hundred million dollars.”
The number leaves me stunned. It is an astronomical sum. Enough to fund my concert many times over. Enough to secure my future for years.
But after just a few seconds, I shake my head. “No.”
Electra blinks. “No?”
I explain, keeping my voice calm and reasonable. “They are offering me all that money just because of my fame and recognition. A hundred million dollars is a lot, but if everything falls apart, I will be dragged into it.”
I meet her eyes. “If the person they are promoting gets into a scandal, my name will be attached. If the music fails, I will be blamed. If the public turns against them, I will be collateral damage.”
Betting my future reputation on money is not worth it. I have worked too hard to build my name from nothing. I will not let someone else’s ambition tear it down.
Electra thinks about it for a moment. I see the calculation
behind her eyes, the way she weighs the pros and cons Then she

nods.
“Alright. I will let them know.” She sighs, shaking her head. “I heard from the assistant that the person making the offer wants to pave the way for his beloved. That is why they are willing to offer that much money to you.”
I am not surprised. In the industry, it is not uncommon for wealthy figures to pour money and resources into promoting their lovers. They see musicians and composers as tools, as stepping stones for the people they truly care about.
This kind of request is not new to me. I have turned down similar offers many times before. Agents, managers and middlemen, all offering large sums for exclusive contracts.
One of the reasons I refuse to compose for others is that I do not want my fame to be exploited for someone else’s publicity. If they want my music, they can have it. But they cannot have my name attached to theirs.
୮
I once told people who asked me to compose for them that I would do it, but only if the composer’s name was not Solaris. They could release the music under their own name, or anonymously, or not at all.
Of course, everyone refused. They did not want the music. They wanted the brand.

That made it clear to me what they were really after.
Electra shifts the subject. “By the way, are you planning to play original compositions at the concert with Rafael?”
I nod, my thoughts turning to the pieces I have been working on. “I still have five original compositions. I will ask Rafael to rearrange them so they can be used at the concert.”
Electra looks at me, her expression curious. “What about the composer’s name? Should we put down Solaris?”
I have an extraordinary musical talent. By the age of sixteen, I was already able to compose my own music. It came naturally to me, like breathing or walking.
But I shake my head. “No. I will not use the name Solaris.”

Electra thinks about it for a moment, then agrees. “That is true. The name is just too conspicuous. Plus, with all the people watching your every move, anything you do will be magnified and maliciously speculated upon.”
Star had once reached the level of national idol status. People worshipped the name. They put it on posters, T-shirts and coffee
mugs.
But while many praised her, there were also plenty of critics. They accused her of being all about publicity. Of playing the 5:23

mysterious card. Of staying out of the spotlight to seem more intriguing than she really was.
There were even rumors that she was greedy. People accused her of being driven by money, of charging exorbitant fees for mediocre work.
Some original composers, with their poor, uninspired pieces, claimed to have spent millions asking Solaris to compose for them. They said they received rubbish in return, that she had cheated them.
After the praise came the attacks. The insults. The endless cycle of adoration and destruction.
There were even a few rumors saying I plagiarized. These rumors gained traction online, spreading across social media platforms and drawing significant attention.
Many people demanded that I come forward to clear my name. Some official media outlets publicly called for me to respond.
I simply ignored it all.
The truth will speak for itself. If I tried to clear every rumor, I would be doing nothing but proving myself all day long. There would be no time for music, no time for creation, no time for the things that actually mattered.

should be free.”
In every industry, people have to make money to survive. Musicians need to eat. Composers need to pay rent.
But because I excelled in an international competition, some people took the moral high ground. They demanded that I offer everything for free. Otherwise, they said, it would be seen as money-grabbing. As if I were betraying the honor that had been bestowed upon me.
Luckily, I have my own career plan. I do not rely on licensing fees to make a living. So I offered everything for free. It was not
a sacrifice. It was a choice.
I shake my head. “If I use the name Solaris again and show up in public, my true identity will definitely be uncovered.” I pause, thinking of the consequences. “That would be too costly.”
Just as I finish speaking, my phone rings. I glance at the screen.
Richard Moore.
I pick it up, wondering what he wants.
