Chapter 248
Talia’s POV
The crowd falls silent, turning toward the voice. Heads swivel. Conversations halt mid–sentence.
Nick stands a few steps away, his smirk dripping with
condescension. His arms are crossed over his chest, his posture radiating smug superiority.
“A middle school graduate who spent five years as a housewife –and now people are calling her á piano prodigy?” He lets out a dramatic sigh, shaking his head. “Have the standards for ‘genius‘ really sunk that low?”
He pauses, letting his words sink in. “The internet is wild. It can turn nobodies into goddesses overnight.” He spreads his hands. “Gotta hand it to these netizens. They will believe anything.”
A murmur spreads through the crowd like ripples in a pond. I catch fragments of whispered conversations.
“Middle school education?”
“Housewife for five years?”
“Is that true? But her performances online seemed really good.” 1/7

Hearing the murmurs, Nick lifts his chin smugly. His smirk widens.
“You know how many so–called singers rely on autotune?” He shrugs. “A well–edited video proves nothing.”
The murmurs grow louder, more urgent.
“So the videos were fake?”
“The event will be live–streamed. We cannot afford to embarrass
ourselves in front of the world.”
Rafael’s expression darkens. His jaw tightens. His voice is cold as he addresses Nick, cutting through the whispers.
“Mr. Cooper, publicly slandering a lady—is that not a bit pathetic?” He steps forward, his gaze steady. “Do you even know Lena? You are making baseless claims about her education without a shred of proof.”
r
He glances around the room, making sure everyone hears him clearly. His voice carries, firm and authoritative.
“Let me set the record straight. Talia Green is my junior. She graduated from Altheria University, same as me.” He pauses, letting the weight of his words settle. “And her mother was none other than my mentor, Serena Green.”

The moment Serena’s name is mentioned, the energy in the room shifts. I feel it ripple through the crowd like a wave.
“Wait… she is Serena Green’s daughter?”
“Serena Green is legendary! If Talia is her daughter, she has to be talented.”
“And she graduated from Altheria University? That is impressive.”
In an instant, Nick’s accusations of a middle school dropout and housewife lose all credibility. The whispers change direction, now filled with curiosity and respect.
Nick had not expected the mere mention of Serena’s name to turn the tide so drastically. His face twists with frustration, his smirk faltering.
“You are obviously biased toward Talia because you are close to her!” He jabs a finger at Rafael. “Just because you say she graduated from Altheria University does not make it true. Where is the proof?”
He sneers, recovering some of his composure. “And do not even think about showing us some photoshopped degree. People are not that easy to fool.”
Rafael is not the type to argue. He prefers reason over rhetoric49

And my academic record is, unfortunately, a point of contention. I have my diploma. I could easily prove the truth.
But people like Nick, who thrive on stirring controversy, are everywhere. All he has to do is plant a seed of doubt, and there will always be people eager to believe it. My growing fame only makes me an easier target.
The higher I climb, the harder the fall if I am not careful.
That is one of the reasons I have never publicly mentioned that Serena is my mother. I did not want my achievements attributed to her legacy. I wanted to stand on my own.
My voice is cool, steady, cutting through the tension. “Mr. Cooper, you are not a judge. You are not a jury. You have no right to demand proof from me.”
r
I meet his eyes without flinching. “And instead of standing here running your mouth, maybe you should be figuring out how to turn yourself in.” I pause. “You might get a lighter sentence.”
With that, I turn away, dismissing him completely. Debating with people like Nick is a waste of time. He does not argue in good faith. He does not care about truth. He only cares about winning.

Aires‘ POV
I step out into the main hall, and my gaze lands on Talia immediately. She is standing in the center of a crowd, speaking with effortless poise. Her voice is calm, measured. She is completely unbothered by the earlier commotion.
A faint, confident smile plays on her lips. Graceful. At ease. She radiates a quiet strength, a kind of magnetism that draws the
eye.
It is a side of her I have never seen before.
I have never once taken Talia to events like this. I always believed she did not belong in these circles. Her embarrassment at Aeson’s birthday party, the way she stumbled and blushed under the spotlight, only reinforced my assumption.
But now, watching her move effortlessly through the crowd, I realize—I was wrong.
Again.
Not only is she poised and confident, but she navigates the room with a natural grace that makes her stand out effortlessly. She belongs here. Maybe more than I do.

I approach Aires, intending to ask about the studio. The words are ready on my lips. But he does not even notice my presence.
His eyes are locked onto Talia.
I follow his gaze. She is standing across the room, surrounded by admirers, her face alight with that infuriating confidence.
A flash of jealousy crosses my face. Hot and sharp. Resentment coils in my chest.
Just then, a tall, strikingly handsome foreign man strides toward Talia. He moves with easy confidence, a charming smile playing on his lips.
“Talia, glad you could make it!”
She turns at the familiar voice, her lips curving into a genuine smile when she sees him. Noah.

Her face softens. Her whole demeanor shifts, becoming warmer,
more open.
I watch them together, and something bitter rises in my throat.
Aires is still staring at her. He has not even blinked.
I step closer to him, positioning myself at his side. “Alpha,” I say softly, trying to draw his attention. “About the studio. ”

He does not respond. His gaze does not move.
I clench my jaw and try again. “Alpha.”
