Chapter 250
Talia’s POV
Noah is about to introduce me to Gerard when he realizes the legendary musician is not in the main hall. He scans the crowd, his brow furrowing slightly.
“Talia, wait here.” He touches my arm briefly. “I will go find Mr. Adler.”
I nod, settling back against the wall. “Alright. I will wait.”
Noah has only just stepped away when two foreign men in their thirties approach me. They are well–dressed, confident, with the easy arrogance of men who are used to getting what they want. Their eyes sweep over me, taking in every detail. Admiration gleams in their gazes.
There is no denying it. Noah has excellent taste.
I am not just beautiful. They noticed me the moment I arrived. I saw them watching from across the room, whispering behind
their hands.
One of them asks in Germinese, “Miss, are you Noah’s date?”
The other grins, his eyes trailing down my body. “You are Stunning. Care to join us for a drink?”

I ignore them. I do not even acknowledge their presence. My gaze drifts past them, looking for Noah.
But their amusement only seems to grow. My cold indifference intrigues them even more. They do not back off. Instead, they lean closer, continuing to speak, showering me with compliments. They compare me to famous actresses. They comment on my figure, my hair, my lips.
I am getting irritated. My jaw tightens. My fingers curl around the stem of my wine glass.
Just as I am about to shut them down, an all–too–familiar, grating voice cuts through the air.
Nick.
“Gentlemen, she has a very limited education.” His smirk is audible. “She does not understand Germinese.”
The two men hesitate for a moment, exchanging glances. Then they turn to Nick.
“And you are?” one of them asks.
Nick responds in flawless Germinese, his voice casual yet
condescending. “I am an old acquaintance of hers. Whatever you need to ask, just tell me. I can translate for you.”

One of the men casts me a doubtful glance. “Are you saying she does not understand Germinese?”
Nick’s smirk widens. “That is right. She barely made it through middle school. She does not even understand proper Engnese, let alone Germinese.” He gestures toward me dismissively. “Have you not noticed how she has been ignoring you? It is because she has no idea what you are saying.” He pauses. “She only got into this event because of a man.”
The two men exchange knowing looks. Amusement flickers in their eyes.
“She got in through connections?” One of them chuckles. “So,
that means…”
Nick nods smugly, crossing his arms. “Exactly. She is here to find a wealthy sponsor. Her last benefactor dropped her, so she is hunting for a new one.”

At this, the two men’s expressions shift. Their gazes toward me grow bold, their interest turning from curiosity to something far less respectful. They look at me like I am meat at a market.
One of them chuckles, low and ugly. “Ask her how much she charges for a night.”
Nick turns to me and, in an exaggerated voice loud enough for

the surrounding crowd to hear, sneers, “Since you are too uneducated to understand Germinese, let me be kind enough to translate for you.”
His smirk widens. “They are saying you are very beautiful. Should you not thank them?”
I look at Nick as if he is nothing more than an entertaining fool. My expression does not change. My composure does not crack.
The two foreign men, despite speaking in Germinese, understand enough Zynanese to pick up on Nick’s translation. They exchange glances and let out, low, mocking laughter.
One of them scoffs, his voice dripping with contempt. “Seems like Mr. Adler has really lowered his standards. Even a whore like her can slip into this event to boost her reputation.”
Nick turns to me again, his voice dripping with false politeness. “This gentleman would like to know if he could… get to know you better.”
When the people around us realize that I do not seem to understand Germinese, surprise flickers across their faces. Whispers spread through the crowd.
Gerard is from Germin. While he is fluent in multiple languages, conversing in Germinese at an event like this is a sign of respect. It shows cultural awareness. It demonstrates sophistication: 2.50

If I cannot even speak the language, then how did I manage to get into the gathering in the first place?
Many of the attendees are multilingual. They have studied abroad, traveled extensively, and conducted business in multiple countries. As they exchange glances, their expressions shift from surprise to quiet disdain.
Their gazes turn mocking as they look at me, assuming I am nothing more than an outsider trying to fake my way into an exclusive event.
In Germinese, they openly discuss me. Their voices are loud and unfiltered. There is no need to be discreet. After all, I would not
understand a word of it.
I glance at Nick. Then at the two foreign men. Then, in the crowd, watching and waiting.
I take a slow sip of my wine. Then I set the glass down.
Without hesitation, I turn, pick up a full glass of red wine from a passing waiter’s tray, and throw it straight into Nick’s face.
The wine splashes across his shirt, his jacket, his smug, smirking face. He sputters, staggering back.
Then, in perfect, fluent Norvish–a language I know none of

them expected–my voice rings out. Cool. Precise. Cutting.
“A wealthy patron? Searching for a benefactor?” I step closer to Nick, my heels clicking against the floor. “Since you are so certain, why do not you announce in public who my last sponsor
was?”
My expression darkens. My tone shifts from mocking to icy.
“Nick, if you cannot provide proof, I will sue you for defamation and slander.”
The crowd goes silent. The two foreign men freeze. Nick’s mouth opens, but no words come out.
Before he can speak, I calmly take out my phone. I hold it up so everyone can see the screen.
“I have recorded everything you just said.” I tap the screen. “Every word.”
r
I raise the device slightly, my voice carrying across the hall.
“If you do not want a trip to the police station, I suggest every single person who participated in this slander apologizes right now.” I look around the room, meeting their eyes one by one. “Otherwise, I will take legal action.”
The silence stretches on, as the crowd shifts uncomfortably. 12:50
