Chapter 254
Talia’s POV
Gerard gives Noah a meaningful look, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You rarely speak up for others like this.”
Noah’s deep blue eyes remain calm and gentle. There is no hesitation in his voice when he responds. “Because she is worth it.”
At this, even I feel a surge of emotion. Something warm blooms in my chest, unexpected and unfamiliar. I am not used to people defending me without wanting something in return.
Gerard gazes at Noah thoughtfully, stroking his chin. “Noah, you are still young.” His voice is measured. “Do not let emotions cloud your judgment.”
୮
Noah smiles, unbothered by the implication. “Mr. Adler, I am not being emotional. I am speaking objectively.” He gestures toward me. “If you truly understood Ms. Green, you would not want to let her go.”
He pauses, then adds, “Consider it a favor I owe you.” He tilts his head. “What do you think?”
Gerard chuckles and shakes his head. “You…”

I turn to Noah, my voice soft but firm. “Mr. Hodge, thank you for speaking up for me. But it is not necessary.”
Noah’s smile fades slightly, replaced by curiosity.
I continue. “As Mr. Adler said, there are many paths in life. Being recognized by him is one path; finding my own
opportunities is another.” I meet Gerard’s eyes. “Not everyone is suited for the same road.”
I hold his gaze, steady and sure. “As long as I choose the right path, it will lead me to the same destination.”
Sebastion looks at me with surprise. His eyebrows lift slightly. He had heard my education was not extensive, yet my words are unexpectedly profound.
I can see him reassessing. Recalculating.
Though I have extraordinary talent, it seems he believed I had not used it in the right way. Instead, he likely assumed I focused my skills on marrying well–and quite successfully at that. Even Noah, he thinks, has fallen into my gentle trap.
If Noah had used his favor to persuade him, Gerard might have found it hard to refuse. After all, Noah is only asking for occasional guidance, not for him to take me as a disciple.
My refusal, however, slightly improves Gerard’s impression of 52

From the start, I sensed Gerard’s disapproval. Though he was fair in making those who insulted me apologize, though he remained polite, his dislike was evident. He saw me as someone who wasted talent, who prioritized family over art.
I am grateful to Noah for speaking up for me. Truly. But it no longer matters what Gerard thinks.
Gerard and Noah have matters to discuss and leave first. They walk away together, deep in conversation, their heads bent close.
I turn to Aires. My voice is cold, flat. “I need to talk to you
alone.”
Without waiting for his response, I walk out of the banquet hall. My heels click against the marble floor. The music fades behind

I watch their retreating figures. Talia strides ahead, her back straight. Aires follows a few steps behind, his expression unreadable.
I do not stop them. Instead, a satisfied smile slowly spreads across my lips.
Without Aires’s help, I would not have gained Gerard’s recognition so quickly. Let alone become his disciple. That is something I never dared to dream of before.
If it were not for Talia’s wasted talent highlighting my own hard work, I might not have caught Gerard’s eye so easily.
The thought fills me with a sense of triumph.
No matter how well Talia plays the piano, in the end, she paved the way for my success. Her loss became my gain. Her rejection became my acceptance.
Talia’s words about every path leading to the same destination sound nice. They are poetic, inspiring, the kind of thing people say to comfort themselves when they lose something they
wanted.
But is it really the same to walk alone versus with a guide?
As Gerard’s disciple, I will become a globally renowned

musician within two years. Doors will open for me that remain locked for others. Opportunities will fall into my lap. My name will be known in every corner of the music world.
As for Talia… who knows where she will end up?
Probably back in that little studio of hers, playing for small crowds, scraping by on concert tickets and translation work. She had her chance. She let it slip through her fingers.
I turn away from the door and accept a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. The bubbles fizz against my lips.
Let her have her pride. Let her save her dignity.
I will have her future.
