Alpha’s Discarded Luna

Chapter 276

Aeson’s POV

I stare at the longdivision and prealgebra equations laid out on the tablet screen in front of us. Robin adjusts his paper, his fingers flying across the digital interface as he solves a multistep algebraic expression.

Ever since those bad men took me away, the world has felt entirely too chaotic for an emerging Alpha wolf. My internal senses still tremble whenever a door slams at home, but inside this quiet apartment, the cognitive noise stops.

This space is small, much smaller than our mansion, but it feels safe. It smells like sweet vanilla and warm milk, and it reminds me of happy memories.

If we move the constant to the other side of the equation and divide by three, the remainder is zero,Robin says, his voice calm.

I nod, shifting my weight on the rug. But you forgot to change the negative sign when you moved it across the equals sign, Robin. If you don’t flip the sign, the whole equation collapses.

Robin pauses, his eyes widening slightly as he rechecks his work. You are right. I overlooked that step.

The door opens fully, and Mom walks into the living room. She is carrying a wooden tray with two glasses of fresh apple juice and a plate of dark chocolate biscuits.

Her face is still a little bit pale from the severe fever she suffered a few days ago, but her eyes are soft when her gaze settles on us.

I look at her carefully, and find no similarities with the unrefined, manipulative person the mansion staff whispers about.

Time to take a break, boys,Mom says. She kneels right down on the carpet beside us and sets the tray down carefully.

Thank you, aunt Tia!Robin says, immediately reaching for a biscuit while keeping his eyes on the screen.

Mom reaches out reaches out and gently wipes a small speck of dust off my collar with her thumb..

I take the glass of apple juice she hands me.

Auny Tia! Aeson’s logic is very good when it comes to breaking down the larger numbers,Robin brags for me, taking a bite of his biscuit.

Mom smiles, and the corners of her eyes crinkle with genuine pride. I accidentally delete a whole line of calculations with a clumsy swipe of my hand and I flinch, pulling my shopklers in 44

servants get frantic and Imema sighs loudly, lecturing me that a future Alpha must always be flawless, calculated, and controlled.

But Mom just giggles softly. Uhoh, a slight miscalculation! That just means we get to figure out the numbers together again, right, Aeson?

I stare at her, my heart thumping hard against my ribs. I look at her long, slender fingers as she gestures toward the screen, offering a simpler way to track our variables.

She is the opposite of everything I have ever been told.

I sit back, the sweet taste of apple juice suddenly turning bitter. I remember sitting on the plush velvet sofa in my dad’s study, clutching my tablet while Imema talked to him.

She is just a scheming, unrefined golddigger, Aires, Imema’s voice echoes in my head, sharp and venomous. Talia has no manners. She comes from the gutter and only wants to use your status to climb the social ladder. She doesn’t know how to raise a child properly. She will ruin Robin, and she will try to manipulate our little Aeson if she gets the chance.

And dad just nodded, didn’t even defend Mom. And the worst part is, I believed them too. I used to think my mom is really evil, because of the things the adults said.

truth about my mom? How could he let someone so mean say such bad things about her?

Aeson? What is wrong, sweetie?

Mom’s voice breaks through my thoughts. Before I can wipe my face, she is shifting closer to me. She reaches out and places her gentle hand over mine. Does your stomach hurt? Are you feeling sick?

I shake my head quickly, swallowing down a sob. If I tell her why I am sad, she will know that I used to believe those awful lies. I don’t want her to send me back to the Alpha mansion, where everyone wears fake smiles and talks behind each other’s

backs.

I am justI am just happy I am here with you,I lie softly, looking up at her through my eyelashes.

She reaches out and pulls me into a gentle, warm embrace.

You are always welcome here, Acson, she whispers, rubbing my back in slow circles. Always.
