Alpha’s Discarded Luna
Chapter 50
Talia’s POV
Ignoring my words, Imema keeps standing.
“No, no! Mrs. Perseus, let me please rectify the errors on my end, at least!”
Saying this, Imema bows deeply, right there in the middle of the elegant restaurant, surrounded by diners
with their wine glasses and whispered
conversations.
“Talia, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.‘
”
I stare at her, saying nothing.

She holds the bow. Seconds pass. Ten. Twenty. The restaurant’s murmur fades as people notice the scene: the weeping woman and the silent one, the tension crackling between them.
Aires’s jaw tightens beside me. He’s about to speak when I finally break the silence.
“Do you know what you did wrong?”
She panics. I see it flicker across her face before she masters it. Her eyes dart to Aires, seeking guidance, then back to me.
Her voice trembles. “I shouldn’t have
come back when I was dying.”

She bites her lip, draws herself up like a martyr approaching the stake. “If you give us the medicine, I’ll disappear. Forever. You’ll never see me again. Whether I live or die, it won’t concern you or Aires.”
Aires interrupts sharply. “Imema, what are you saying?”
Tears spill down her cheeks. “I don’t have much time left anyway. If I can exchange the rest of my life for your mother’s health
་་
–” She chokes, unable to continue.
Aires’s voice is rough. “Don’t talk like
that.”
She forces a smile through her tears, radiant and tragic. “Trust me, Aires! It‘$6:19

worth it, I won’t have a single complaint if
Talia agrees.”
Around us, the whispers begin.
“Good heavens, that woman is making things difficult for a terminal patient?”
“It sounds like she’s withholding medicine… life–saving medicine. How
cruel.”
Someone raises their voice, indignant. “Hey, lady! She apologized! What more do you want? She’s dying!”
Others chime in, a chorus of self–righteous outrage.

“Yeah! Don’t push her to death!”
“Have some compassion!”
Imema wipes her tears, turning to bow to the crowd. “Thank you all, truly. It’s fine. Whatever it takes, if she’ll just give me the medicine. The person is quite elderly and in need of help..”
“So it’s medicine for someone else?” A murmur ripples through the onlookers. “She’s dying and still thinking of others. What a kind soul.”
The stares turn to me, familiar stares that are carrying all sorts of accusations and hostility. I’m the villain now, the heartless woman withholding medicine from the 16:19

dying saint.
“You’re going too far!”
“If she dies, it’s on you!”
The condemnation washes over me like water. I’ve felt it before. I know this game.
A laugh cuts through the noise. Light, amused, utterly out of place.
“How strange.” Raymond’s voice carries effortlessly. “My friend hasn’t said or done anything. When did she become a murderer?”
The crowd falters, turning to him.

He leans back in his chair, casual and unhurried, a faint smile playing at his lips. “Do you believe everything you hear? If I told you this young lady specializes in destroying marriages, that she’s not terminally ill at all, that everything she says is calculated to win sympathy, would you believe that too?”
Confused glances pass between the onlookers.
He continues, voice calm and reasonable. “Since you don’t know the full story, perhaps don’t rush to judgment. Being weak doesn’t make someone right.
And the supposedly weak…” His smile sharpens. “Might not be weak at all. I’ve never seen a fragile person who can whip9

a room into a frenzy with a few well–placed tears.‘
Imema flushes. “Mr. Capaldi, you misunderstand, I didn’t incite anyone—”
“Of course not.” He cuts her off smoothly. “I’m just making an observation.” He gestures to the table. “The food has arrived. Why don’t we sit and talk? I recall Talia only said she didn’t have the medicine, not that she wouldn’t give it. And the person who needs it is Aires’s mother. If Talia had it, why wouldn’t she share? Perhaps the supply ran out. Perhaps there’s another explanation.
But you…” He tilts his head. “You started crying immediately. One might think your mother was dying.”

The crowd’s mood shifts as the
understanding dawns.
“Oh. So she just doesn’t have it—it’s not that she won’t give it.”
“Right. The other woman didn’t even ask why before she started sobbing. Is she that anxious, or just that good at acting?”
“And the medicine is for his mother.
Why is she so desperate? What’s their relationship?”
Aires turns to look at Imema, a crease forming between his brows.
Imema’s composure cracks–just for an

instant. Then she rallies, sighing heavily.
“Aires, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any harm. I only wanted to help. I know I’m clumsy, useless, annoying. My existence is a mistake.” She forces a brave smile. “You should talk. I’ll go.”
She stands and walks toward the exit, head bowed, shoulders slumped–a portrait of wounded dignity.
Outside, rain pounds against the windows. Torrential. Relentless.
Aires catches her wrist. “Where are you going? It’s pouring. You’re in no condition to be out in this.”

She shakes him off, voice breaking. “Where I go, whether I live or die- it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t concern you.” She pushes through the door and disappears into the storm.
Aires stares after her, torn. Then he looks at me—just for a second–before following her into the rain.
The door swings shut behind them.
Silence settles over the table. Raymond picks up his wine glass, unruffled.
“Well,” he says mildly. “That was dramatic.”
I watch the rain streak down the glass, 16:19

blurring the world outside.
“She’s very good at this,” I say quietly.
Raymond nods. “She’s had years of practice. The question is–how much longer will people fall for it?”
I don’t have an answer. But for the first time, I wonder if the answer might be not much longer at all.

Talia’s POV
The rain pounds against the restaurant windows as I watch Aires chase after
Imema into the storm. Through the glass, I see him catch her arm. She struggles, shaking her head violently, rain plastering her hair to her face. Soon they’re both soaked, a dramatic scene worthy of any
tragic romance.
I stand up.
Raymond looks at me, a question in his eyes. “Need help?”
“No.” I walk to the window, pull out my

phone, and start recording.
He blinks. Then laughs, a genuine, surprised sound. “What are you doing?”
“Gathering evidence.” I keep filming as Aires’s patience finally breaks. He lifts Imema into his arms. She struggles for a moment, then goes still as he says something to her. He carries her to his car, opens the door, settles her inside. Moments later, they drive away.
I pocket my phone and return to my seat. Pick up my chopsticks. Resume eating.
Raymond watches me, something like fascination in his eyes. My hands are steady. My appetite is intact. I eat with 16:19

genuine enjoyment.
“You’re not upset?” he asks finally.
I take a sip of water. “They’ve done worse.
I’m numb to it now.”
He doesn’t respond, but I see him filing that information away. Processing what kind of marriage produces a woman who can watch her husband chase another woman into a storm and feel nothing but satisfaction at the evidence collected.

The next few days pass quietly. Peacefully, if I can dare to say that. I shop with Electra, consult with lawyers, begin to 16:19

imagine a life that doesn’t revolve around the Perseus family.
Until one day, Nick appears, carrying all the ugly reminders with himself.
We’re leaving a children’s store, where I have bought a small gift for Robin, when his mocking voice cuts through the mall’s ambient noise.
“Well, well. If it isn’t the little housewife.”
I turn. Nick stands there, arms crossed, sneer firmly in place. His eyes drop to the shopping bags in my hand, and his smile
widens.
“See? I knew it was all an act. Pretending19

to be tough, pretending you don’t care. But no matter which toy you wanna buy for him, Aeson will never choose you. Then forget about the Alpha!”
Be takes a step closer. “Before Imema came back, you could play your little games. Chase after Aires, pretend to be the devoted wife. But now? Step aside.
You’re done.”
Electra’s face flushes with anger. “That’s enough, you—”
“Enough?” He cuts her off, laughing. “Why would it be enough? Look at her. A housewife with no status, no background, nothing. You really think you’re good
enough for someone like Aires?”

“Shut your mouth!” Electra’s voice shakes with fury. “I’ve never seen anyone so proud to be a mistress’s lapdog!”
Nick’s laugh turns scornful. “Mistress? Who’s the mistress here?” He gestures at me. “Everyone knows Talia climbed into Aires’s bed and trapped him into marriage. Imema should have been with him years ago. Talia’s the shameless one, and now she has the nerve to play victim?”
I step forward, placing myself slightly in front of Electra. My voice is calm,
measured.
“Marriage requires consent from both

parties. Aires signed the papers. He made vows. Whatever history he had with Imema, it’s exactly that–history.”
Nick sneers. “What good is being Mrs. Jones if you can’t keep your husband? If Imema so much as sneezes, Aires drops everything to be at her side. In the middle of the night, during dinner, whenever she calls. You know where he’s been lately? With Imema. She had a cold, and he’s been hovering like she’s dying.” He leans in, malicious glee shining in his eyes. “Even your own son is there, asking after her, blaming you for making her sick. It won’t be long before Imema replaces you completely. Aeson’s already got his new mom picked out.”

“I’m working with a lawyer, Electra. The divorce is moving forward. I’ll be free

A small smile touches my lips. “It’s fine. Starting over isn’t too late. At least I learned something valuable, that relying on yourself is the only way. And thankfully, I have great friends like you, who will happily share the burden when it gets too much to bear.”

A few days later, my phone rings early in the morning. Rafael’s name flashes on the
screen.
୮
“Talia.” His voice is tight. “Have you spoken to Electra today?”
I straighten immediately. “No. What’s

A pause. Then: “Electra found some promising locations for the studio. She asked me to meet her yesterday to tour them. But this morning… she’s not answering her phone. I’ve called a dozen times.”
My instincts flare. “You think she’s in trouble?”
Rafael’s voice drops. “The last time I saw her, we ran into Nick. He was spewing his usual garbage–bragging about Aires and Imema, about how devoted Aires is. He told Electra to go see for herself if she didn’t believe him.” Another pause, heavier this time. “I was worried, so I. 16:19

“And?”
“Talia… Imema attempted suicide last night.”
The words hit like ice water. “What does that have to do with Electra?”
“I heard Electra went to the hospital yesterday. Confronted her, there was a whole scene.”
A cold knot forms in my stomach. “I’ll find
her.”
“Be careful. If Imema’s suicide is connected to Electra, Aires won’t let

I end the call and grab my coat.
Oh Electra, what did you do?
