Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 93

Chapter 91

Talia’s POV

The moment Aeson’s footsteps fade upstairs, I reach into my

bag and pull out the divorce papers. Freshly drafted, every clause carefully considered, every demand clearly stated.

These are the updated documents. Review them, and if

everything is acceptable, please sign.

Aires’s expression hardens, that familiar cold settling over his

features. Talia, I’ve already given you considerable leeway.

Push further, and you’ll regret it.

I raise an eyebrow, genuinely amused. Regret it? That sounds promising. Tell me more.

His eyes turn to ice. Fine. Remember you said that. Don’t

come crying to me later.

I meet his gaze without flinching. You’ve issued that warning before. Have you seen me regret anything yet?

He snatches the papers from my hand, scanning them with sharp, practiced efficiency. A few minutes pass in tense 14:43

silence. Then he looks up, a cold smile twisting his lips.

Half my assets? He laughs, the sound devoid of humor. You

have some nerve, Talia.

My face remains calm, but something inside me tightens. I raised your child. I managed your household. I catered to your family’s every whim. Half is fair compensation. What’s

unreasonable about that?

You compare yourself to hired help? His voice drips with contempt. You put yourself in that position and wonder why Aeson doesn’t respect you?

I was wrong. My voice is flat, controlled. I’m not even as good as a nanny. Kelly and Susan earn thousands every month for their work. I’ve been your wife, shared your bed, managed your lifeand received nothing. Not respect, not compensation, not even basic courtesy.

I step closer, letting him see the fire behind my eyes.

Your mother calls me a golddigger. A parasite. As if I were starving before I married you. As if I brought nothing to this

family.

Aires shakes his head, disappointment written across his

features. You say you raised my child? Aeson is your son

too. It’s disgusting to hear a mother reduce her child to a

bargaining chip.

Did I give birth for your family’s benefit? My voice rises,

then steadies. I went through that alone. Where were you when I was in labor? When I pushed for hours, terrified and

exhausted? I fought to bring him into this world. Why does he carry your name? Why does your family get all the credit

while I do all the work?

I hold his gaze, relentless.

You say he’s my son too. Fine. Give me custody, and we’ll call

it even.

He pauses, caught off guard. Aeson is the Perseus heir. He can’t go with you. Even if I agreed, you couldn’t afford to

raise him.

If I could afford it, would you give him to me?

No.

I nod slowly, unsurprised. Then don’t lecture me about being 3/7

his mother. You’ve already decided I’m not qualified.

His response is brutal in its honesty. You don’t stand a

chance against me, Talia. In court or out.

Because I’m a housewife with no income. The words taste

like ash. I sacrificed my career, my independence, my future -for this family. And now that sacrifice is used against me. Weaponized. You’ll take my child because I was too busy being a mother to build a résumé.

I stare into his eyes, letting him feel the weight of it.

A fulltime wife’s labor counts for nothing. It’s invisible.

Worthless. You’ve exploited that from the beginning.

I’m not really fighting for Aeson. I know I can’t win. From the

moment I decided to leave, I accepted I’d go with nothing.

The original agreement was fairwalk away quietly, start

over.

But then Imema kept inserting herself. Kept pushing. Kept

treating me like dirt beneath her shoes. And Aires let her.

Encouraged her. Made it clear I mattered less than nothing.

Everyone has limits. They found mine.

Aires’s jaw tightens. I can see him recalibrating, realizing he’s

lost control of the narrative.

What if I refuse to divorce you?

My voice stays calm. Then we do this publicly. For Aeson’s

sake, I’d prefer an amicable separation. But I won’t beg,

Aires. And I won’t be dismissed.

His eyes narrow. He knows I have resources nowRaymond’s support, media connections, evidence. A public battle could damage the company, affect the stock, hurt Aeson.

Have you considered what happens when you truly anger me?His voice drops, dangerous.

I laugh softly. I’ve already lost my child. What else can you

threaten me with?

Bernard. Electra. Your friends.

Bernard and Electra are healthy and capable.I pause, letting the implication land. Unlike Ms. Volkov, who only has

a few months left. I wonder if she’ll ever hold that concert

she’s been planning.

Aires’s eyes flash with fury. Harm Imema, and I’ll destroy

you.

I tap the divorce papers. Sign these, and your worries

disappear.

What if I don’t?

Then Ms. Volkov’s dreams may remain unfulfilled.

His voice drops to something lethal. You’re courting death,

Talia.

I raise an eyebrow, meeting his murderous gaze without

flinching. You can threaten me through my friends, and

that’s acceptable. I threaten your precious Imema, and I’m courting death?

I step closer, my voice dropping to match his.

I never wanted to involve anyone else. If Imema hadn’t

inserted herself into my life repeatedly, I wouldn’t care about

her existence. But you want to play games with my friends?

My lips curl into a cold smile. I have nothing left to lose,

Aires. Nothing. If you touch Bernard or Electra, I’ll make sure

Imema suffers. I’ll make sure your entire family suffers.

Something flickers in his eyesuncertainty, perhaps even

fear. The gentle wife he thought he knew has teeth.

He throws the papers back at me. Fine. You want a divorce? Leave with nothing. No assets, no property. Walk away emptyhanded.

I catch the documents, my expression unchanged. Those are

your terms?
