Chapter 107
His grip tightened, sending sparks of both pain and unwanted
pleasure up my arm. “Yet you brought underwear.”
I met his gaze, refusing to back down, even as my body trembled. “I’m
simply doing my job as your assistant.”
Drake’s other hand reached up, his finger tracing the small bruise on
my forehead where I’d been hit by a folder earlier. The touch was
feather–light, contradicting the steel in his grip. “Your skin bruises so
easily.”
I stiffened, realizing he knew about the incident. “Is this what Stone
Industries‘ CEO wants to see happen to his employees?” My voice
dripped with acid.
“Don’t twist my words, Elsa.” His thumb brushed over the mark again,
almost tenderly, making my breath catch traitorously in my throat.
The bedroom door opened, and Susan emerged wearing the white
dress I’d selected. It fit her perfectly, highlighting her youthful figure.
I wanted to rip it off her just to spite her.
“What do you think?” she asked, twirling for Drake like a fucking

debutante.
Drake released my wrist, his demeanor shifting instantly. “It suits
you.” He turned to me. “I’ll take Susan downstairs. You can finish up
here,”
Susan pouted, her lower lip jutting out childishly. “But I haven’t
finished with the tribal outreach work we were discussing. And my
clothes are still in the room.”
“Elsa will gather your belongings,” Drake said smoothly. “That’s part
of her job.”
“Perfect,” Susan said, giving me a dismissive look that made me want
to slap her perfect face. “Just wash everything and bring it to the
office tomorrow.” Her tone made it clear she viewed me as household
staff rather than an executive assistant.
Drake guided Susan toward the door, his hand resting lightly on her
lower back. Before leaving, he caught my gaze, his golden eyes issuing
a silent command: Stay here.
As soon as the door closed, I released a string of curses that would
have made a sailor blush. I gathered Susan’s discarded clothes, noting
with disgust how she’d deliberately left her underwear in plain view-
a childish attempt to mark territory.

“Amateur,” I scoffed, roughly shoving her things into a bag. Let Vera
and Susan fight over him. It would make my life easier.
When the door opened again twenty minutes later, I was standing by
the window, Susan’s clothes neatly packed in a bag for dry cleaning. I
tensed, my body going rigid with alertness, my hand instinctively
moving toward the e
spray in my purse.
“Planning to send your boss to the hospital?” Drake’s sardonic voice
cut through the room like a knife.
I turned slowly, keeping my expression neutral despite my racing
heart. “Force of habit after today’s events.” My fingers still hovered
near the spray.
Drake loosened his tie with one smooth motion, his eyes never
leaving mine. “Speaking of which, you handled the security breach
professionally. I’ve spoken with mall management.”
“I’ve already contacted them about strengthening security protocols
to prevent other pack members from entering our territory,” I said, slipping into business mode, wrapping it around me like armor.
“Were you
afraid?” His question caught me off guard, making me
blink rapidly.

“No,” I said automatically, too quickly. “There was nothing to be
afraid of.”
Drake moved closer, his scent wrapping around me like a physical
touch. “You’re lying. You were terrified. I could smell it on you.” His
nostrils flared slightly.
“I-” My voice faltered as he stepped closer, invading my space.
“You ran straight to me,” he continued, his voice lower, almost a
growl.
Heat flooded my cheeks. “I ran toward the only person I recognized,” I
countered, hating how defensive I sounded. “Susan did the same.”
“No.” His finger traced my jawline, leaving a trail of fire. “You were
scared, and you sought me out. You just won’t admit it.”
Before I could respond, he pushed me backward. My ankle hit the bed
frame with a painful crack, and I fell onto the mattress with an
undignified yelp, my already damaged skirt tearing further with a
loud rip. The hole in my stockings widened, exposing more of my
thigh.
Drake loomed over me, his eyes flashing molten gold as he grabbed my torn stockings and ripped them completely, the sound of tearing

fabric loud in the quiet room. His hands were hot against my skin,
making me gasp.
“Drake!” I protested, my voice high and breathless. My body froze under the weight of his dominance.
