Alpha’s Private Plaything
Chapter 130
I needed to save myself. Nobody else would.
After my shower, I chose a conservative black dress with a high neckline and long sleeves. The silver moon pendant–Drake’s mark of ownership–hung heavy around my neck, like a beautiful collar on a prized pet. I twisted my golden hair into a tight bun and opted for flat
shoes instead of heels.
If I need to run, I’m damn well going to be ready. No breaking an
ankle in stilettos while fleeing from horny men tonight.
Instead of heading to the dining hall where everyone was gathering, I
slipped into the main lobby, scanning the room for any potential
allies. Most of the staff had been dismissed for the night–another
bad sign.
Christ, they’ve even cleared out the witnesses. How fucking lovely.
“Elsa? Are you looking for Drake?”
I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sound of Rex’s voice behind me.

The younger Moonlight brother was watching me with curious eyes.
Thank god–someone who isn’t part of this sick exchange ritual.
“Rex! Thank god.” I grabbed his arm, pulling him toward a service corridor. “I need to talk to you. Privately.”
Once we were alone in the staff changing room, I released his arm, checking that no one had followed us. My heart was pounding so hard
I could feel it in my throat.
“What’s going on?” Rex asked, brow furrowed. “You look terrified.”
“The pack exchange,” I said bluntly. “Do you know the rules?”
Recognition dawned in his eyes. “Yes, but I’m not participating. I’m not high–ranking enough.”
At least someone’s honest about it.
“Is your brother here? Did he bring a companion?”
Rex nodded. “Allen’s here with a date, but they’re not official mates.
Just an arrangement for the weekend.”
I took a deep breath. “I need your help. If your family can

safely away from the resort tonight, I’ll make sure the Silver Ridge mining property bidding goes in your family’s favor.‘”
Betraying Drake? Yes. Do I care? Fuck no. Not when he’s willing to pass me around like a goddamn baseball card.
Rex’s eyes widened. “That’s… that would be betraying Drake.”
“It’s my only option,” I said, desperation creeping into my voice. “I refuse to be passed around like a party favor. I’m a person, not property. If he wants to trade partners, he can damn well do it
without me.”
Rex stared at me for a long moment, then nodded slowly. “I’ll talk to Allen. Wait in the corner of the main hall, near the service entrance. Try not to draw attention.”
The main hall was already filling with high–ranking pack members when I returned. I kept to the shadows, making myself as inconspicuous as possible, but it didn’t work. Several male Alphas noticed me immediately, their predatory gazes tracking my movements across the room.
God, I can smell their interest. Disgusting. Like sharks smelling blood
