Chapter 176
Elsa
Drake’s response was immediate and fierce. He growled against my
lips, his hands sliding down to grip my hips with bruising force. We
didn’t even make it to the bedroom. Right there against the wall of
the entryway, he pressed his body against mine, the hard planes of
his chest crushing my breasts as his scent–dark, masculine, primal—
filled my lungs and made my knees embarrassingly weak.
I tore at his shirt like a woman possessed, buttons scattering across
the hardwood floor with satisfying pings. My nails raked down his
back hard enough to leave angry red welts that made him hiss with
pleasure. The sight of my marks on his skin sent a twisted thrill
through me.
“Fuck, Elsa,” he growled, his voice a guttural rumble that vibrated
through my body.
“What’s wrong, Alpha?” I panted, deliberately using his pack title, my
hands shaking with a mixture of desire and fury. “Can’t handle a little
fucking pain?”
His eyes flashed gold, the wolf rising close to the surface. I loved and
hated that I could do this to him–reduce the mighty Drake Stone to

his base instincts with just my touch. The power was intoxicating,
even if it was fleeting.
We stumbled toward the bedroom, shedding clothing like burning
evidence. My back hit the mattress with a soft thud that knocked the
breath from my lungs, and Drake followed, his powerful body caging
mine. The moonlight streaming through the windows illuminated the
taut muscles of his shoulders, the sharp angles of his face, and I dug
my fingers into his arms, leaving crescent–shaped indentations.
I gasped as his teeth grazed my neck, a shudder rippling through me.
“I’m not your omega. I’m not your anything. We’re equals here,
Drake.”
He froze above me, then let out a cold laugh that chilled my
overheated skin. “Equals?” His hand wrapped around my throat, not
squeezing but making his point clear. “Don’t delude yourself,
sweetheart. We’ll never be equals.”
The cruel truth of his words stung like a slap, but I refused to show it.
Instead, I arched against him with deliberate provocation, watching
his eyes darken with lust as my body betrayed me once again. A small,
broken sound escaped my lips, half pleasure and half self–loathing.
It’s always like this, I thought bitterly as pleasure coursed through
me, making me tremble beneath him. I always have to bleed and beg

smile.
As if summoned by my thoughts, a distinctive ringtone cut through
our heated breaths. Vera’s personalized ringtone.
I froze beneath Drake, then a wicked smile spread across my face as
something dark and vengeful unfurled in my chest. I reached for his
phone on the nightstand, holding it up between us, my eyes
challenging him.
“Your girlfriend’s calling,” I said, licking my swollen lips with
deliberate slowness. “Aren’t you going to answer? Poor thing might be
worried sick.”
Drake’s eyes narrowed dangerously, his fingers digging into my hip.
“Don’t.”
But I was already swiping to accept the call, deliberately putting it on
speaker before placing it on the nightstand with a dramatic flourish.
My heart pounded with vicious satisfaction.
“Drake, darling?” Vera’s sickeningly sweet voice filled the room. “I
