Alpha's Private Plaything (Elsa and Drake Stone) novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

Elsa

After having a meal with the engineers, I took a taxi back to the

hotel. The taxi pulled up to the hotel entrance, and I fumbled with my

wallet, hands trembling so badly I nearly dropped the damn thing.

The driver gave me a concerned look as I counted out bills with

fingers that felt numb and uncooperative, my vision blurring around

the edges.

Are you alright, miss?he asked, his brow furrowed.

Just fucking peachy,” I muttered, though the words came out slurred.

My stomach churned violently, completely empty after I’d vomited up

everything at lunch. I hadn’t eaten a single bite since, and my body

was running on fumes, screaming in protest with every movement.

I pushed open the car door and stepped out, immediately regretting

the sudden movement. The world tilted sideways like a goddamn

carnival ride, and my knees buckled beneath me. I grabbed the door

frame, my nails digging into the metal as I steadied myself, a cold

sweat breaking out across my forehead.

I took another step, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other,

gritting my teeth against the wave of nausea that threatened to bring

me to my knees. The hotel entrance swam before my eyes, the bright

lights blurring and multiplying like I was looking through a

kaleidoscope. My skin felt clammy, my hair sticking to my neck, and I

knew I must look like absolute shit.

Just a few more steps. You can make it, damn it.

My legs gave out, betraying me like everything else in my miserable

life.

Strong arms caught me before I hit the pavement, the familiar scent

of sandalwood and pine enveloping me. Drake. Of cou it would be

him. The universe wouldn’t miss this perfect opportunity to humiliate

me further.

Let go,I muttered, trying to push away from his chest with hands

that felt like they were moving through molasses. “I’m fine, Mr. Stone.

Thank you.My voice dripped with venom despite my weakness. The

last thing I needed was for someone to see us like this, with his hands

on my waist, my body pressed against his like some helpless damsel.

Drake gave a cold snort, his breath warm against my hair. If you

don’t want people to see, then stop struggling,he said, his voice low

and harsh. He tightened his grip on me, practically lifting me off my

feet. You’re making a scene.

I glanced around, my eyes narrowing as I noticed several hotel staff

watching us with curious expressions. Damn it. He was right, and I

hated him for it.

Fine,I hissed through clenched teeth, my jaw so tight it ached. I

allowed him to support me as we walked toward the elevator, my body

rigid with resentment, even as it instinctively leaned into his warmth.

Drake’s overwhelming presence filled the small lobby, his Alpha aura

radiating outward like a physical force. The other hotel employees

quickly averted their eyes and scurried out of our path like frightened

mice. No one dared to join us in the elevator when the saw Drake’s

cold, forbidding expression.

The elevator doors closed, and I immediately sagged against the wall,

my legs barely supporting my weight. The dizziness was getting

worse, and my body felt like it was made of lead. I pressed my palm

against my forehead, wincing at the heat radiating from my skin.

What the hell were you thinking?Drake growled, not bothering to
