tonight.”
I glanced back through the glass doors at Elsa’s sleeping form,
something possessive and dangerous coiling in my gut. “Just fucking
tired. Handle Wright. I’ll deal with the rest tomorrow.”
After hanging up, I stubbed out my cigarette with enough force to
bend the metal railing and returned inside. Despite the king–sized
bed, Elsa had somehow managed to occupy most of it. I shoved her to one side, perhaps rougher than necessary, earning a sleepy protest,
and settled beside her.
Without conscious thought, I pulled her against me, her back to my chest, one arm wrapping possessively around her waist. She fit perfectly, her scent now clean and familiar. My nose found the curve of her neck, and I inhaled deeply, my wolf growling with satisfaction. “Mine,” I whispered against her skin, the word both a promise and a
threat, allowing sleep to take me.
Morning light streamed through the partially opened curtains, warming my face. Elsa stirred in my arms, her body tensing as consciousness returned. The moment she realized where she was-
and who she was with–she jerked away violently.
“What the fuck?” She scrambled backwards, pulling the robe tighter
around her body.

Her hands clutched the robe more tightly around her body, the
realization that I’d seen every inch of her–again–dawning in her
eyes.
I moved toward her with deliberate slowness, something primal
driving me to assert my claim. She tried to scramble away, but the
headboard blocked her retreat. I planted my hands on either side of
her, caging her in.
“Don’t touch me,” she warned, voice trembling.
“That wasn’t what you were saying last night,” I murmured, leaning
close enough to feel her panicked breath on my face. “Or have you
forgotten how you moaned my name? How your body responded to
mine?” I inhaled deeply, scenting her fear mixed with something else
-something her body couldn’t hide from my wolf.
Her body went rigid as I pressed my mouth to hers, claiming her lips
with bruising force. I could feel her internal struggle–the hatred
battling with the physical response her body couldn’t hide. She
remained completely still, neither fighting nor participating.
After a moment, I pulled back, disappointment and irritation flooding
back.”
