Chapter 139

Nathan’s POV

Ethan finally catching his breath, slapped his thigh. “Luna Aria ran away!”

Everything inside me stopped, then shattered.

“What?” I roared, leaping to my feet so fast the chair toppled behind me. Heat burst across my skin, my wolf clawing, snarling, ready to shift right there.

Collins gaped. “She-she just arrived… why would she run again?”

“When did this happen?”

My voice came out low and dangerous, more growl than words.

Ethan flinched so hard I could practically hear his bones rattle. His scent spiked with fear as he glanced helplessly at Collins before answering.

“Luna Aria had already left by car before I… before I tried called you and Beta Collins. I got no response, I had to come myself.”

A cold weight dropped into my stomach.

From Hemsworth Villa to the Hemsworth Group… that stretch spanned almost half of Asterfell. There were too many roads, too many exits, too many places she could vanish into.

My vision darkened at the edges as my wolf surged upward, prowling beneath my skin.

Without another word, I snatched my suit jacket from the chair and strode out of the room, the echo of my steps vibrating with impatience and fury.

I heard Peter push up behind me, eager to follow.

But Collins caught his arm. “Mr. Clinton, today’s matter is postponed. We’ll contact you again if needed.”

Peter froze. The scent of frustration rolled off him, but he backed down.

Collins hurried after me.

In the car, I didn’t even go to the back seat where I usually sat. I dropped into the passenger side, fastened my seat belt with jerky movements, and stared straight ahead with bloodshot eyes.

“Was the route correct?” I asked, my voice as cold as the winter moon.

Collins’s scent soured with stress. “Ethan said she took this direction. Along this road there’s only one

international hotel and a new bar.”

I didn’t respond, but my hand clenched so tightly on my trouser leg that the fabric wrinkled beneath my fingertips. My thigh muscles tensed like a coiled spring.

Two days ago, I realized what I felt for Aria wasn’t just obligation, not duty, not even guilt.

It was something else, something dangerous, something my wolf had known long before I did. I had developed real feelings for Aria.

For that reason, I took back the inheritance for her. I thought, stupidly, that she would stay because she still wanted me the way she did in the past.

But she wasn’t the woman who waited for me a year ago.

The moment she got her freedom… she ran.

Frustration clawed at me until my jaw ached from grinding my teeth.

“Alpha Nathan, we’ve arrived!”

The car hadn’t even finished stopping when I shoved the door open and stepped out. Collins cursed

under his breath, scrambling to catch up.

My wolf burst forward, pushing me toward the hotel entrance. My men filed out from the convoy and followed behind us in perfect formation, silent and lethal.

Inside, I approached the front desk in three long strides.

“Did someone named Aria check in here?” I asked. My voice was low, a predator’s growl.

The receptionist froze, her eyes wide. “I-1-”

Collins stepped in, gentling his tone. “If you don’t remember, please check the records.”

She nodded quickly, then suddenly slammed the record book shut.

“No! Our company doesn’t allow disclosure of guests’ privacy!”

Her voice trembled, though she tried to appear firm.

My eyes narrowed. I didn’t need to flare my aura, my wolf did it for me. The air grew heavy and dangerous. She swallowed but held her ground.

Collins sighed and pulled out his identification. “I’m the special assistant to the president of Hemsworth Group. This is Alpha Nathan. We’re searching for Luna Aria, who ran away from home. She’s alone with

her child. We’re worried for her safety.”

The receptionist’s gaze snapped to me, stunned, as though she was just realizing who I was.

Collins added, “We’ve spoken to your boss. If anything goes wrong, we’ll take responsibility. Check the

records.”

Right then her phone rang.

“Y-yes, Mr. Kendrick. I understand.”

Her heartbeat spiked. She moved the mouse with trembling fingers, then quickly printed a keycard.

This this is Aria’s room key.”

I immediately snatched it from her hand.

The moment I saw the room number, my wolf surged forward, he was impatient, territorial and furious.
