’Marsha, I’m not even pregnant yet,’ Seraphine argued inside her head, desperately trying to keep her cool even after everything that had gone down.
But her wolf was practically bouncing with excitement, way more hyped up than before. ’Your fancy medical knowledge doesn’t mean squat when it comes to what you’re carrying now. This is the most amazing thing ever!’
The sheer joy pouring out of Marsha’s voice was impossible to ignore, hitting Seraphine like a wave of pure sunshine mixed with a little bit of crazy.
Voren studied her face super closely, catching every tiny change in her expression. His eyebrows shot up in curiosity. "Is Marsha telling you something right now?"
Seraphine met his gaze and gave a little nod, letting out a soft sigh. "She’s losing it as usual. Now she’s dead set on the idea that I’m pregnant."
"My dad says the exact same thing, baby."
Voren’s voice came out calm and serious, without any of Marsha’s bubbly energy, which somehow made the whole thing feel a thousand times heavier and more real.
Seraphine had been fighting hard to push the whole pregnancy idea away, convincing herself there had to be some other explanation for everything she was feeling.
But hearing that Vladimir had come to the same conclusion made it almost impossible to keep brushing it off. Her stomach twisted with a mix of nerves and something she couldn’t quite name.
"But..."
Before she could even finish, Voren gently cupped her face in his warm hands, his touch so tender it made her heart squeeze. "No buts, baby. Carrying a black gifted wolf is on a whole different level. Those gifts don’t get passed down normally, so our pup would be the very first one to get it straight through blood. I really think the Moon Goddess is straight-up blessing us with this."
His eyes filled with such deep, glowing warmth as he pulled her into his strong arms, pressing his lips softly against the top of her head and holding her like he never wanted to let go. The comfort of his embrace wrapped around her like a protective blanket.
"If this pup was just a regular Alpha wolf, your pregnancy probably would’ve felt a lot like it did with Espe."
Seraphine shook her head slowly, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on her. "No. Every single pregnancy is different in its own wild way." She rubbed her forehead, looking totally drained. "But honestly, sleeping this much is starting to freak me out big time."
Another huge yawn slipped out before she could stop it, and her eyelids already felt like they weighed a ton, begging her to drift off again. "I swear I could crawl right back into bed and sleep for days."
Seeing her looking so wiped out twisted something tight and painful in Voren’s chest. Worry flooded through him, deep and sharp, but he refused to let even a hint of that fear show on his face.
Right now, Seraphine needed him to be her rock, strong and steady no matter what.
