Seraphine had expected this. The moment Ravyn lost control, violence would be the first thing on his mind. That was exactly why she stepped in front of Zane without hesitation. He was her witness, and she wasn’t going to let anyone silence him.
Ravyn’s chest rose and fell hard as he fought to keep his temper in check. His fists tightened until his knuckles turned white. Countless questions raced through his mind. He recognized Zane.
More importantly, he knew Daisy had been communicating with him. The calls, the hidden messages. Everything suddenly began fitting together in a way that made his stomach turn.
Daisy’s legs gave out beneath her. She collapsed onto her knees, face already streaked with tears. "Zane..." her voice cracked with pure desperation. "Please..."
Before she could finish, Zane’s furious shout exploded through the hall. "Shut the fuck up, bitch!" Not a trace of pity showed on his face.
He was mad because thanks to Daisy, he had once gone against Seraphine. Had she not saved his father, he would have still been hating her and who knows? He would have even ended up in prison or killed alongside his father by Santiago’s men.
Yes, Seraphine was his hero because together with Voren, they took down the notorious mafia don who destroyed his father. Seraphine did not end there.
She gave him a job with a mouthwatering salary in addition to other incentives. Zane owed her his life and for that, he was willing to do anything. She just had to say it.
Seraphine wasn’t surprised in the slightest by Zane’s use of cursed words. The first time she tried hacking him, he had cursed at her with the same filthy language, though it was digital. That was simply who he was.
Ravyn’s face darkened and his eyes flashed with fury. "How dare you speak to a Luna like that?" His voice boomed across the room. He never called Daisy his Luna, only "a Luna." The tiny difference didn’t go unnoticed. He took an angry step toward Zane.
Zane immediately stumbled two steps backward, fear flashing across his face. Before Ravyn could get any closer, Seraphine stepped between them once again, her expression remaining calm. "I told you," she said firmly, "don’t touch him."
Ravyn stopped. Every muscle in his body trembled with restrained anger, fingers curling into tight fists. For several long seconds no one moved. Zane quietly stood beside Seraphine.
The fear on his face disappeared almost instantly, replaced by an expression that softened with respect. He slightly lowered his head toward her. "Boss." His tone carried genuine respect. "Should I send it to his phone?"
Every guest looked at Seraphine, curiosity filling their eyes. What exactly was Zane talking about?
Seraphine fell silent as she carefully thought everything through. Her eyes slowly drifted toward Daisy. The woman was still desperately denying everything. Enough was enough.
Seraphine let out a quiet breath. "She keeps denying the truth," she pointed out, voice remaining steady. "So..." She looked back at Zane. "Upload everything. Make it go viral."
"No!" Daisy’s terrified scream shattered the silence. She crawled forward on her knees, fresh tears pouring down her cheeks. "I’ll confess!" She cried so hard her entire body shook. "I’ll tell everyone!"
