Ravyn moved far away from Amelia.
When bringing her in, he’d ensured to not walk close to her, keeping a distance that spoke of caution and self-preservation. It wasn’t the same with the two other witches, but right now, Amelia was on her own. Isolated, vulnerable, exactly where he needed her to be.
Coco and Jane were both happy.
Finally, Amelia would avenge them and get back the crowns. The grand witch had arrived like a savior, her power radiating from her in waves that promised retribution and justice.
But as for their missing limbs, they had no idea about how to get them back. The blood had stopped flowing, their bodies had numbed, but the horror of their mutilation remained, a permanent reminder of their failure.
Amelia stepped forward, studying the carrier of the voice as a frown contoured her expression. Her eyes narrowed, her lips pressing into a thin line of confusion and disdain. "A Luna?"
She chuckled, the sound dry and mocking. "What authority do you have?"
"A grand witch." Oriana smiled back, her expression serene and unbothered.
The shaman was close behind, though Oriana had insisted on handling this on her own. Her posture was relaxed, her hands loose at her sides, but there was something in her eyes that spoke of ancient power and absolute certainty.
"Did you not do your homework?"
Amelia closed her eyes. The energy swirling around Oriana was not ordinary. It pulsed and thrummed and sang with a power that predated memory, that stretched back to the dawn of creation itself. It was the kind of power that made witches tremble, that made even the most arrogant of their kind pause.
"Your powers are ancient. How is that possible? Unless..."
Oriana raised a brow, a knowing glint flickering in her eyes. "This is your end, Amelia. You should not have come."
Amelia knew that Oriana’s energy was not ordinary, but she was also a grand witch who had honed her powers from sacrifice and dedication to the Lycans.
She had given everything to them, had bled for them, had killed for them. Even now, she would not be able to enter the Lycan fortress anymore and would have her life sacrificed for her daughter as soon as she returned. But it was worth it for as long as she could avenge her daughter.
"You treated my daughter like livestock." Amelia’s voice shook, pain sitting in her chest like a physical weight. Her hands trembled at her sides, her eyes burning with tears she refused to shed.
"I’m not leaving without compensation. I want Sera and her daughter." The corner of Oriana’s lips twitched, amusement flickering across her features.
"The Arcade Constitution 441 states that a witch who uses her powers to destroy the innocent must pay with something of equal value."
Amelia stumbled backwards. Her face drained of color, her breath catching in her throat. The words hit her like a physical blow, stealing the strength from her legs. "You are no witch."
Oriana’s energy wasn’t her kind. It was something older, something purer, something that had no business existing in this world. "So how do you know about the Arcade Constitution?"
"I’m the new shaman of this pack, Amelia. You arrived in time to pay the price of your crimes."
Oriana’s voice was calm, measured, the voice of a judge delivering a sentence.
"Should I list them all? How you and your daughter used a false life spell on my son, to make him think he slept with your daughter."
Amelia took another step back. "But your son poured acid on my daughter’s face."
