Alpha's STOLEN Mate (by Abigail Hayes) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

My dagger opened the first guard’s throat before he could make a sound. Blood sprayed, but the wolf didn’t cry out-just collapsed with

that same eerie silence.

Frost’s blade found the second guard’s heart with surgical precision. The body crumpled.

I didn’t wait. I was inside the room instantly, my hands already working on the locks binding Elowen to the table.

Her eyes flew open. Shock, then joy, then stubborn anger flashed across her face in rapid succession.

“Kaius?” Her voice was hoarse, disbelieving.

“Keep your voice down,” I whispered, finally getting the first wrist free. “I know you’ve been waiting. But you’re safe now.”

Her expression immediately soured. “Fuck! I don’t need you to rescue me! Get away from me!”

Of course. Why did I expect gratitude?

I continued working on the restraints, ignoring her protests. “This isn’t the time for your attitude, Elowen. This place is a death trap. We

need to leave. Now.”

I reached to help her sit up once she was free, but she shoved my hands away roughly.

“I can manage on my own! It’s safer here than being kidnapped by you anyway!”

Frustration boiled in my chest, but Frost stepped in before I could respond.

“My Queen,” he said softly, approaching her with careful respect. “I know you’re angry. But Kaius explained everything about Morgath on the way here-her experiments, her collection, her power.” His pale blue eyes were earnest, pleading. “This isn’t the time to fight each other. We need to leave before she returns.”

Elowen’s entire demeanor shifted. She sat up quickly, grabbing Frost’s hand with obvious concern.

“Frost! You came too! God, are you sure your body can handle this? After everything with Cross…” Her voice softened with genuine worry. Then she seemed to remember where they were and shuddered. “Fuck. You’re right. This whole place is a nightmare. That psycho could come back any second. We have to go. Now.”

Are you fucking kidding me?

Frost said the exact same thing I did, but he gets immediate cooperation and concern for his wellbeing?

Frost caught my expression and winced slightly, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.

:.

I forced myself to nod curtly. Deal with your jealousy later. Get her out first.

Frost took point, leading Elowen toward the exit with practiced efficiency. I followed behind, my eyes constantly scanning for threats.

The maze of white corridors seemed endless, but Frost navigated with surprising confidence-likely following the same magical

breadcrumbs we’d used to enter.

We were almost to the exit. I could see the faint shimmer of the barrier ahead, freedom just beyond it-

“Well, well, well.”

Morgath’s voice echoed through the corridor, freezing us all in place.

She materialized at the exit, blocking our path. Her golden mask gleamed under the harsh lights, and flanking her were half a dozen wolves-all radiating the enhanced strength and mindless obedience of her collection.”

“How convenient,” she purred. “I just finished dealing with Rowan, and now the Alpha King delivers himself to my doorstep. Capturing a

White Wolf comes with such excellent bonuses!*

All three of us went rigid at different parts of that statement.

Rowan is dead?

I’d known it was a possibility when she left to confront Morgath. But hearing it confirmed-knowing that my last connection to the Elders, my source of intelligence, my complicated ally was gone-hit harder than expected.

Morgath seemed amused by our shock. But then her attention shifted, focusing on Frost with unnerving intensity.

‘Frost,” she said, her voice taking on an almost contemplative quality. “You’ve lived a hard life, haven’t you? Born into slavery, clawed your way up to Beta through sheer determination. And now…” Her head tilted. “Your time is running out, isn’t it? I can smell the decay in your blood. The weakness spreading through your system.”

Frost’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing.

Morgath’s smile widened beneath her mask. “Such a tragic, broken specimen. A pet that’s already dying. She waved her hand dismissively “You don’t interest me, Beta. You may leave.*
