The first wolf lunged at my throat with mechanical precision, no wasted motion, no hesitation. I threw myself sideways, barely avoiding claws that would have opened my jugular. The second attacked before I’d even regained my footing, forcing me to roll desperately across

the rocky ground.

Fuck. I need to get out of here.

But even as I fought with everything I had, a terrible realization was growing in my mind. These weren’t random rogue wolvesthey were

something far more dangerous.

The third assault came from my blind spot, and this time I wasn’t fast enough. The impact sent me sprawling hard against the rocky cave floor. Pain shot through my ribs where I’d hit the ground, but it also did something unexpectedit cleared my head completely.

The initial shock of the attack faded as something primal awakened in my chest. These artificial wolves moved with mechanical precision, but they lacked the unpredictability of true predators. I could work with that.

Stop panicking. Start hunting.

I shifted my weight, letting my white wolf instincts take control. Years of survival training kicked in as I analyzed their attack patterns- synchronized but rigid, like they were following programmed instructions rather than acting on instinct.

When the first wolf lunged again, I was ready. Instead of dodging backward, I twisted sideways and raked my claws across its ribs. The artificial flesh parted like paper, dark ichor spilling across white fur.

Got you.

But my satisfaction was shortlived. The wounded wolf didn’t even flinch. No howl of pain, no hesitationit just kept coming, its empty red eyes fixed on my throat with mechanical determination,

What the fuck?I snarled, dancing away from another coordinated assault. Don’t you feel pain?

The second wolf’s claws caught my shoulder, leaving burning tracks across my fut. I retaliated immediately, my claws finding the soft flesh beneath its jaw. Blood poured from the wound, but instead of weakening the creature, something horrifying happened.

The blood began disappearing into its white fur, absorbed like water into sand. And as it vanished, the wolf’s movements became faster, more aggressive. Its red eyes blazed brighter.

They’re feeding on their own blood. Getting stronger.

Terror spiked through me as I realized the true scope of what I was facing. These weren’t just animated puppetsthey were designed to become deadlier as the battle progressed.

The third wolf completed their triangle formation, and suddenly all three were attacking simultaneously. I threw myself into a desperate

roll, but there was nowhere to run. Rocky walls surrounded us on three sides, the cave’s hypnotic glow cutting off my retreat.

Time to stop holding back.

My claws found the first wolf’s throat, and this time I didn’t hesitate. I drove them deep, feeling artificial vertebrae snap under the pressure. The creature collapsed, dark fluid pumping from the massive wound.

My tail lashed out, catching the second wolf across the muzzle and sending it stumbling. But the third one was already moving, and I

couldn’t dodge fast enough.

Agony exploded across my back as razorsharp claws found their mark, sinking deep into muscle and scraping against bone. The pain was unlike anything I’d ever experiencednot just physical trauma, but something that burned like acid through my supernatural healing.

Magic. The claws are enchanted.

I tried to twist away, but the wounded wolfthe one whose throat I’d torn outwas somehow rising again. Its head lolled at an unnatural angle, dark ichor still streaming from the gaping wound, but its claws shot out to grip my front paws.

It held on with desperate strength, trapping my claws in its own ruined throat. The creature was willing to dieagainjust to keep me

immobilized for its packmates.

Fucking psychotic monsters.

The third wolf’s fangs gleamed as it lunged for my exposed throat. With my claws trapped and my back pinned by burning agony, there

was nowhere left to go.

That’s when the fire awakened.

Heat exploded through my body like molten metal in my veins. Not painfulexhilarating. Power that had been sleeping in the depths of my white wolf abilities suddenly roared to life, demanding release.

The elements. Evelyn said I could control any force of nature.

I’d mastered wind during my escape from that cliff. Now, with death seconds away, something deeper and more primal was answering my desperate call.

My claws began to glow.

The white wolf gripping my paws suddenly released its hold with what might have been a shriek of pain. Where my claws touched its throat, flesh hissed and bubbled, cooking from the Inside out. The artificial creature burst into white flames, crumbling to ash in seconds.

The wolf behind me leaped away with inhuman speed as superheated air rolled off my body, For the first time since the attack began, I saw something like fear in those empty red eyes.

The third wolf’s fangs met my burning claws instead of my throat. There was a sound like meat hitting a hot skillet, and then it was screamingthe first genuine emotion any of these creatures had shown.

I drove my claws through its skull with casual strength. White flames raced along the wound channels, incinerating brain tissue and melting bone. Within seconds, there was nothing left but smoldering ash.

The surviving wolf backed away, its mechanical confidence finally cracking. The cave’s blue glow suddenly shifted to deep purple, and

reality seemed to shimmer around the entrance.

Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.

The creature dove toward the portal just as the magic completed its cycle. One moment it was there, the next it had vanished completely -transported back to whatever hellish laboratory had created it.

I stood alone in the clearing, my claws still wreathed in dying flames as they gradually returned to their normal color. The air reeked of

burned flesh and dark magic.

Well, I thought with grim satisfaction, at least they know I’m not easy prey.

But the implications were terrifying. Someone with serious magical resources was creating enhanced warriors specifically designed to hunt supernatural predators. And they’d just learned exactly what a white wolf could do when cornered.

Time to go home.
