Chapter 93
Elowen
:
I had no idea how long I’d been unconscious. All I knew was the exhaustion-a bone-deep weariness that felt like I’d been drowning in darkness for an eternity. But slowly, warmth began creeping over my skin, so real and tangible that it pulled me back toward
consciousness.
My eyes fluttered open, and the first thing I saw was Kaius’s face inches from mine.
What the fuck?
I was in his arms. In my own bedroom. He was sitting on my bed, holding me like something precious he was afraid to break.
Instinct took over. I shoved him away with all my strength, rolling to the far edge of the bed as he tumbled backward. What shocked me
was how easy it had been-I felt stronger than ever before, my body responding with power I’d never possessed.
The wound in my chest was completely gone. No scar, no pain, nothing to indicate I’d been on the verge of death.
But the most disturbing thing wasn’t my miraculous recovery. It was the way my entire body was reacting to Kaius’s proximity. An
overwhelming, visceral pull toward him that was ten times stronger than anything I’d felt before. Every cell in my body seemed to crave
closeness to him, and it was taking all my willpower not to move back into his arms.
Fuck. What the hell happened to me? Is this some kind of fever dream?
I slowly stood up from the bed, my legs feeling surprisingly steady. Kaius immediately rushed over to support me, his hands reaching for
my shoulders.
I shoved him away again, but this time he didn’t let go. Instead, he looked at me with an expression of concern I’d never seen on his face
before.
“How are you feeling?” he asked urgently. “Any pain? Dizziness? Discomfort?’
The genuine worry in his voice made me realize this wasn’t a dream. I’d actually survived. Somehow, impossibly, I’d recovered from a
wound that should have killed me instantly.
“Was it Lyra who saved me?” I asked, my mind racing through possibilities.
Kaius shook his head.
‘Did Evelyn use some kind of resurrection magic?”
Another head shake. But his expression was complicated-guilty yet almost amused, like he was bracing himself for an explosion.

Chapter 93
22.00
Dread began pooling in my stomach. I knew there was one other way mates could share life force, one method that went beyond normat healing….
And I was standing dangerously close to him, Close enough that I could feel my heartbeat accelerating to a terrifying deper, could sense the mate bond practically boiling between us.
No. He wouldn’t. He couldn’t have-
I ran to the mirror, shouting “No, no, no!” as I yanked aside the collar of my sleep shirt.
The mark on my shoulder was unmistakable. Fresh, permanent, and burning with supernatural energy.
‘NO00000!”
My scream echoed through the entire pack house, probably audible to every single person in the territory, I collapsed to the floor, a
mixture of rage, disbelief, and crushing defeat washing over me as I cursed violently in every language I knew.
After several minutes of creative profanity, I scrambled to my feet and stormed over to Kaius, grabbing him by the collar and shaking him.
“How dare you mark me while I was unconscious!” I snarled. “You had no right! No fucking right to do this without my consent
Kaius allowed me to manhandle him, his voice infuriatingly calm. “It’s done. The mark is permanent. There’s no going back.”
“Don’t assume that!” I shot back. “Just because you took advantage of me doesn’t mean you own me! I can find a way to sever this bond if
I have to!”
For the first time, something dangerous flashed in his eyes. Though he didn’t physically restrain me, his voice carried unmistakable
warning. “You can throw whatever tantrum you want about anything else. But this? I won’t allow you to harm yourself trying to break
what’s meant to be.”
“You think because you’re Alpha King you can just refuse and mark people without permission? My voice rose with fury. “This is my
territory, asshole! And I was the one who saved you! I risked my life to rescue your stupid ass, and you repaid me by permanently marking
me while I was dying? I should have let those wolves tear you apart!”
“My mate,” Kaius said quietly, “stop fighting reality. You couldn’t bear to let me die, just as I would use any means necessary to save you.” His expression grew more serious. “But more importantly-we need each other now more than ever. We have a common enemy. A powerful
one.”
I turned away dismissively. “I don’t need your help. I can handle them myself. You’re just going to get in my way.”
