Alpha's STOLEN Mate (by Abigail Hayes) novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Elowen

The room fell silent except for our ragged breathing. My mind struggled to catch up with what had just happened, what I’d just allowed—

no, what I’d begged for.

Even after the intensity faded, my body still trembled with aftershocks. Damn this mark. The pleasure is completely irresistible now.

If I couldn’t resist the physical pull, then the solution was simple: stay the hell away from him.

I pulled on my clothes with jerky movements, refusing to look at Kaius lounging on my bed with that infuriating smirk on his face.

“Get out,” I said flatly. “Go back to your pack. I never want to see you again.”

“That’s not very mate-like to say after such an enthusiastic coupling,” Kaius drawled, looking entirely too pleased with himself. “You’re

breaking my heart.”

The lazy satisfaction in his voice made me want to kick him-so I did, my foot connecting with his leg. “Don’t pretend you suddenly care

about me!”

“Oh! So guarding you all night was just me pretending to care?” he shot back with mock offense.

“What else would it be?” I snapped bitterly. “Oh, how convenient that you suddenly discover your protective side the moment you find out I’m a legendary white wolf! Forgive me if I only remember the part where you couldn’t get rid of me fast enough when I was ‘defective.””

Something flickered across his expression-hurt, maybe, or regret-but he masked it quickly as he began dressing.

“I guess I’m in no position to argue about the past right now,” he said, his expression turning more serious. “But don’t worry-we’ll see each other again soon enough. You know these enhanced rogues aren’t something you can handle alone. Even if you can destroy them, you’ll never have peace until we find their master. I tracked down that witch yesterday. Her magical abilities are extremely powerful, and her ambitions seem to target not just white wolves, but all werewolves. I’m going back to investigate this threat properly.”

I was surprised by his information and wanted to ask more, but I refused to work with him-especially not now, when I could barely

control my impulses around him.

“We’ll each protect our own packs,” I said dismissively. “Safe travels.”

After Kaius left, I changed into professional attire and headed straight to my office. This time, I didn’t wait for my friends to arrive-I stationed myself outside the door like a disapproving principal waiting to scold wayward students.

The moment Scarlett and Evelyn walked in, I glared at them accusingly. “Which one of you brilliant minds thought it was a good idea to let my mate-the one I’ve spent four years avoiding-mark me while I was unconscious?”

Scarlett completely ignored my anger, her face lighting up with genuine relief. “Elowen! It’s so good to see you alive and energetic again! But you have to understand, marking was the only way to save your life in that moment.”

He wasn’t trying to save me. He was taking advantage of the situation to claim me, and saving my life was just a convenient bonus. His motives were completely impure.

“Actually, you should be thanking me,” Evelyn said with shameless confidence. “I did you a huge favor.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked incredulously.

Evelyn circled around me like a predator examining prey, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “God, how many times did you two go at it? You absolutely reek of Kaius. Did you enjoy yourself?”

My face immediately flushed. “Fuck off. We didn’t—”

“Marking enhances the connection between mates,” Evelyn interrupted, clearly enjoying my discomfort. “Sex after marking doesn’t just strengthen your bond-it amplifies both partners’ abilities. So really, I helped increase your power. No need to be embarrassed! Just think

of him as a very effective… personal massager.” Her grin turned wicked. “And given Kaius’s impressive physique, I’m sure he’s excellent at his job.”

Scarlett burst out laughing while I sputtered with indignation.

“You evil witch!” I shouted. “Not only did you manipulate me into getting marked, now you’re mocking me about it! Fine! Next time I go

to the human world, I’m buying you a hundred vibrators so you can enjoy yourself properly!”

“Please, I have better taste than-”

“Okay, enough!” Scarlett cut through our bickering, trying to suppress her smile. “Elowen, let’s talk about serious matters.”

I took a deep breath and forced myself to focus. “What’s the situation?”

“Since yesterday’s battle, all the enhanced white wolves in the area have vanished completely,” Scarlett reported. “We haven’t detected any

trace of them.”

I shook my head grimly. “They’re just avoiding confrontation temporarily. We still need to keep the pack locked down. No one leaves the

territory.”

Evelyn nodded in agreement. “While we have this breathing room, let someone else handle tracking duties. I want you to focus on

developing your abilities further. Your power is the true protection our pack needs.”

“I’ve already awakened wind and fire manipulation,” I said, confused. “How much more can I grow?”

“Do you think a lazy witch like me would randomly choose which pack to join?” Evelyn laughed. “Do you think I’d sacrifice my energy

maintaining barriers for just anyone? I saw your potential from the beginning. I’m counting on you to be my retirement plan-my

I couldn’t help but smile. “Well, I’ll work hard to get you that early retirement. If you can figure out how to break the mate bond, that is.”

Evelyn held up her hands in mock surrender. “That I can’t help with. Your abilities will only fully awaken now that you’ve been marked. Embrace it and learn what you’re truly capable of. I’m looking forward to your next transformation.”

I sighed heavily, staring out the window. The mark on my shoulder burned with a constant reminder of what I’d lost-and what I’d gained.

Fine. If being marked gives me access to new power, then I’ll use it. I’ll become stronger than ever before-strong enough that no one, not Kaius, not enhanced rogues, not even fate itself, can control me again.
