An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122 Take Responsibility for Her

Chapter 122 Take Responsibility for Her

Jared felt a surge of restless unease in his chest.

They always said alcohol messes things up, and now he knew they were right.

He’d almost assaulted Natasha just now.

Or maybe he’d already crossed that line.

‘I didn’t… Jared muttered, his lips parted as he tried to explain himself.

Natasha’s cheeks burned red as she shot him a glare. “Didn’t what? Didn’t try anything on me?”

Jared pulled out a tissue and handed it to her. “Look, nothing actually happened, right?”

Natasha snapped, her voice trembling with anger, “So you wanted to force yourself on me?””

Jared shrugged, looking a bit sheepish. “That’s not what I meant…”

Natasha barely held back her temper. “Then what do you mean?”

Jared muttered, feeling guilty, “I had too much to drink tonight and ended up in the wrong room…”

Natasha scoffed, her tone icy. “So just because you went into the wrong room, you think you can do whatever you want to me?”

Jared met her gaze, dead serious. “I’ll take responsibility for you.”

Natasha paused, surprised.

She never thought he’d actually say he’d take responsibility for her.

“No need. It’s not like this is our first time,” she replied, her tone indifferent.

She didn’t want to get any more involved with him than she already was.

All she wanted was to sleep with him once to pay back what she owed from last time, then they’d be square.

Jared felt a pang in his chest.

He never expected himself to take responsibility like this, only to be rejected again

“Whether it’s the first time or not, I almost… I need to take responsibility for you,” Jared insisted, not backing down.

He’d finally found a woman who stirred his desire, and he wasn’t about to let her slip away.

“Seriously, I said I don’t need you to do anything. Just go back to your own room and let me have some peace,” Natasha said coldly.

She turned her back on him, frustration clear as she told him to leave.

She really didn’t want to see him right now.

‘If I’d known tagging along with Jared on this business trip would end up with me getting taken advantage of like this, I never would’ve come, she thought bitterly.

Jared opened his mouth, but stopped himself.

He knew she wouldn’t listen to anything he said right now.

Jared figured it was best to let her cool off for a while.

“Alright, I’ll head back to my room. If you need anything, call me,” he said.

With that, Jared got out of bed and left.

“Damn it!” Jared cursed under his breath as he slammed his fist into the wall the moment he got back to his room.

He was a mess inside, his mind in chaos.

He’d planned to use this business trip to the Majestika as a chance to get closer to her, to build something real between

them.

But now, he’d screwed it up.

The heat from the alcohol still burned inside him, refusing to fade.

Jared found himself heading back to the bathroom once again.

He took a cold shower for more than twenty minutes.

But the memory of Natasha under him lingered stubbornly in his mind, impossible to shake off.

He was frustrated with himself for not being able to keep it together.

Why can’t I ever keep my cool when it comes to her?’ Jared thought, annoyed.

He lay awake in bed, sleep nowhere in sight.

He finally gave up, got out of bed, and settled at his desk to flip through the partnership files.

He needed something to distract himself.

Natasha barely slept a wink that night either.

At eight in the morning, she made her way downstairs to the buffet, sporting huge dark circles under her eyes.

She bumped into Derek at the buffet.

“Ms. Whittier, didn’t you sleep well last night? Your eyes are so swollen,” Derek said, gesturing toward her eyes with rea

concern.

Natasha forced a sheepish smile. “Probably just jet lag. Couldn’t get any sleep.”

“You and Mr. Rundell are really alike,” Derek said, remembering. “I saw him earlier, and he had dark circles under his eyes, too. Looked like he hadn’t slept a wink either. He said it was jet lag, too.”

Natasha couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

‘Seriously, how come we both came up with the same excuse?’ she thought, feeling a bit awkward.

“Looks like Mr. Rundell’s all yours now,” Derek said suddenly. “I’m taking a flight back home at noon today.”

Natasha’s eyes widened in surprise, worry creeping in.

‘So I’ll have to face Jared all by myself for the rest of the trip?’ she thought.

She couldn’t help but remember how close they’d come to crossing the line last night.

And now she was going to be alone with Jared again.

Natasha suddenly felt like Jared could pounce on her at any moment.

Thankfully, she didn’t see Jared at all over the next few days.

Natasha did go to his room to look for Jared.

But aside from his luggage, he never showed up. He was always missing.

Natasha had no clue where he was or what he was up to.

She didn’t bother calling him.

Honestly, she was secretly relieved not to see Jared around.

That way, they wouldn’t have to deal with any awkwardness between them.

Around noon, right after Natasha finished lunch, her phone started ringing.

She answered without checking the caller ID.

Percy’s voice came through. “I’ve thought it over. I’ll agree to your terms.”

Natasha paused, caught off guard.

Then she realized. He was agreeing to give her the house they’d lived in after getting married, and another 10 million dollars, on the condition that she helped him keep their divorce under wraps.

“Alright, let’s meet at City Hall when I get back,” she replied.

Percy sounded annoyed. “What? You’re not even back in the country yet?”

Natasha snapped, “I’m on a business trip. Is that an issue?”

She didn’t feel like she owed him any explanation.

Percy pressed, his tone sharp. “Are you deliberately stalling the divorce?”

Natasha let out a cold snort. “If you don’t trust me, you can always back out.”

With that, she hung up.

Right now, Percy was desperate to divorce her so he could cozy up to Joelle.

But he didn’t want anyone else, especially the Grosso family, to find out.

If that weren’t the case, he never would’ve agreed to her last-minute demands.

Natasha deliberately avoided giving him a straight answer, just to mess with him and make him sweat.

She figured the days she was still overseas and hadn’t gone to City Hall with Percy to finalize the divorce would be pure torture for him.

Surprisingly, Natasha found herself in a much better mood after thinking about it.

There was a thrill in getting her revenge on him.
