Chapter 173 He Saw Everything

Chapter 173 He Saw Everything

“You!” Joelle was instantly furious, glaring at Natasha.

Roxanne, pretending to care about her daughter, snapped at Natasha, “Get out!”

Natasha raised an eyebrow. “This isn’t the Whittier house, Roxanne. You don’t have the authority to throw me out!”

Roxanne’s perfectly made-up face fell in an instant. She never expected Natasha to actually dare to defy her now.

‘Where did that meek, submissive girl from before find the nerve to go against me?’ Roxanne fumed inwardly Roxanne’s voice dropped, threatening as she snapped, “I’ll say it again, get out!”

Natasha just shot her a cold, almost mocking look. She replied with just one word: “No!”

Roxanne recoiled, taking a step back, as if Natasha’s cold expression had sent a chill down her spine. “Mom, are you okay?” Joelle hurried to support her, worry in her voice.

Roxanne shook her head at Joelle and reassuringly patted her hand. “Natasha, apologize to Mom right now!” Joelle snapped.

Natasha sneered, “Who are you to demand anything from me? If anyone should be apologizing, it’s you!”

Joelle scoffed, “As if! Why would I ever apologize to you?”

Natasha stared her down. “You’re a shameless mistress who can’t even say sorry. Why should I?”

As soon as Natasha finished her sentence, Roxanne slapped her hard across the face. “Who gave you the right to talk to Joelle and me like that?” Roxanne snapped, her eyes blazing with fury.

She shot Natasha a cold glare and warned, “Don’t forget your place. You’re nothing but the Whittier family’s illegitimate daughter. Think carefully before you speak, or I can throw you out of the Whittier family whenever I feel like it!”

Natasha pressed her hand to her stinging right cheek, her face full of disdain. “Go on, kick me out! Collin already did it ages ago. No need for you to play the hero, Roxanne!” she snapped.

Roxanne’s expression twisted, and she gritted her teeth in fury. “What did you just say?” she snapped.

Natasha met her eyes and snorted. “Roxanne, you keep waving the Whittier family name like it’s supposed to scare me. Isn’ t that getting boring? Or maybe you just can’t keep your own daughter in line, so all you know how to do is throw your weight around and bully people?”

“You!” Roxanne was so furious she could barely speak.

Roxanne was shaking, barely able to contain her fury. She glared at Natasha, as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

‘Even after I slapped her, she still has the guts to talk back!’ Roxanne thought, stunned. ‘Where did she get the nerve?’

Roxanne swung her hand toward Natasha, about to slap her again. But Collin rushed in from the hallway, grabbing her arm before she could strike.

“Mom, what are you doing?” Collin demanded.

“Let go! I need to teach this brat a lesson!” Roxanne struggled to break free from Collin’s grip.

Collin held her wrist firmly, keeping her from getting anywhere near Natasha. He gave Natasha a quick, meaningful look, telling her to leave.

Natasha glanced at Collin, then at Roxanne’s nasty glare. She tossed her hair and strode out of the room. She wasn’t leaving out of fear; she just didn’t want to waste another second tangled up in their stupid drama.

“Don’t you walk away from me! Get back here!” Roxanne snapped from behind, her voice full of rage.

But Natasha kept walking, not even bothering to look back. “Mom, calm down!” Collin stepped in, trying to calm her down.

Roxanne shot Collin a furious glare. “Why did you grab me just now and stop me from teaching that brat a lesson?”

Collin looked at her, clearly not approving. “Mom, can’t we just talk things out? There’s no need to hit her. She’s still Dad’s daughter, after all.”

Roxanne snorted, full of contempt. “Your dad never once saw her as his daughter.”

To her, Natasha was just some brat mooching off the Whittier family. Honestly, letting an illegitimate kid like her stay this long, Natasha should be thanking her lucky stars. But now, she actually dared to get uppity, acting like Roxanne and Joelle meant nothing to her.

Collin muttered under his breath, “No matter what, she’s still Dad’s daughter. She’s my sister!”

“Nonsense!” Roxanne shot back. “Joelle’s the only sister you have!” With that, she yanked his ear hard. “Don’t you ever

forget it.”

Collin cried out in pain, begging, “Mom, that hurts! Let go, please!”

Roxanne glared at him. “If it doesn’t hurt, you’ll never learn!”

Joelle sat on the hospital bed, watching Roxanne lay into Collin, her expression unreadable. But deep in her eyes, there was a glint of schadenfreude.

Roxanne still didn’t know Natasha was her biological daughter. Seeing them mother and daughter tear each other apart right in front of her, Joelle felt a wicked thrill.

Natasha walked into her house, the sting from Roxanne’s slap still burning on her cheek. The side of her face that Roxanne had hit throbbed with pain, hot and angry.

She glanced in the mirror; her cheek was puffed up, and there were even a few streaks of blood where Roxanne’s nails had scratched her. Roxanne really didn’t hold back with that slap.

There was no way she could show up at work looking like this. Natasha grabbed some ice from the freezer, wrapped it in a cloth, and pressed it to her swollen cheek.

The cold seeped into her skin, easing the dull ache a little. Even after some time had passed, her cheek was still really swollen and red when she checked the mirror.

Left with no other option, Natasha grabbed her phone and called Derek. “I need to take two days off,” Natasha said.

Derek was momentarily taken aback. “Why don’t you just tell Boss directly?”

Most people had no clue what was really going on between Natasha and Jared, but Derek knew better than anyone. For something this trivial, she could’ve easily just gone straight to Jared.

Natasha didn’t even think about it. “Don’t bother, just let him know for me; tell him there’s some family stuff going on.”

“Got it,” Derek said.
