Chapter 199 Not Jealous?

Chapter 199 Not Jealous?

Natasha didn’t have time to look away and happened to be looking at him as well. She had more than just a few drinks tonight; her eyes were misty, carrying a certain intensity that was especially alluring.

Jared locked eyes with her; his heart skipped a beat. He almost couldn’t control himself and wanted to walk over to her Suddenly, Lizzie clung to his arm. In a spoiled, playful tone, she said, “Jared, I’m so dizzy. Can you send me home tonight?” She swayed unsteadily, nearly collapsing into him. Everyone’s attention shifted to them. With all eyes on him, Jared couldn’ t refuse her outright. But he didn’t say yes, either. Instead, he turned and strode straight out of the private room.

Lizzie assumed he had agreed. She hurried after him, her face lighting up with excitement. “Jared, wait for me!” she called out. She hurried after Jared in her heels and finally caught up, panting.

Jared turned around and shot her a cold, indifferent glance. “Wait for you? For what?” he asked.

Lizzie said, “To send me home!”

Jared’s eyes flashed cold. “Did I ever agree to send you home?” Lizzie was at a loss for words. Jared turned to leave, completely indifferent.

Seeing this, Lizzie pretended to stumble and took the opportunity to fall against him. “Oh my, I feel so dizzy!”

She was dead set on making Jared send her home tonight, even if she had to cling to him shamelessly. Jared fixed his gaze on the woman who had deliberately fallen into his arms, his brows knitting tightly together.

The car sped down the road, the night outside a blur. Lizzie blinked awake, her eyes half-closed. She suddenly realized no one was beside her in the back seat; Jared was no longer around.

She instinctively glanced around the car and found Jared was nowhere to be seen, except for the driver and herself. She snapped awake and immediately blurted out to the driver, “Where’s Jared?”

The driver said, “Mr. Rundell has something to attend to and has left.”

“What?” Lizzie was shocked.

She had used every trick she could think of merely to hitch a ride with Jared. She never expected Jared to ditch her and left. before they even reached her place. Lizzie felt deeply betrayed, as if he had cheated on her.

“Open the door! I want to get out!” Lizzie demanded furiously.

The driver was expressionless. “Mr. Rundell wants me to send you home.”

“I don’t want you to send me,” Lizzie protested angrily. “Stop the car!” she shouted, her voice shaking with anger. She didn’t want anyone else but Jared to send her home.

The driver didn’t stop the car, completely ignoring her demand. Instead, he quietly turned on the music, unfazed, no matter how Lizzie yelled and cursed at him.

In the private room at Golden Bay Entertainment City, the other colleagues began to leave one after another after Lizzie left. The bustling private room suddenly went quiet.

Natasha had drunk too much and was leaning against the sofa, her face mostly hidden by her hair, making her expression hard to read.

“Want me to send you home?” Leigh was about to head out, but she didn’t feel right leaving Natasha alone in the private room, so she walked over to ask.

Natasha shook her head. “No thanks, I just want to sit here for a while before heading out.”

Just as Leigh wanted to say something, her phone suddenly rang. She answered the call, then turned to Natasha, her expression tense. “Something urgent just came up at home. I have to go now.”

Natasha waved her off. “Don’t worry about me, go ahead.”Leigh left hurriedly, and the room went dead silent.

Natasha rubbed her temples and closed her eyes. Just then, she heard footsteps at the door. Natasha figured it was Leigh coming back, so she didn’t really care. But as the person approached, she realized something wasn’t right.

“Had a little too much tonight, huh?” Jared leaned in, his deep, husky voice rang out beside her ear.

Natasha slowly opened her hazy eyes, catchin Successfully unlocked! ming nearby. Jared leaned in, closing the

Seeing Natasha not responding, Jared reached out and lightly patted her flushed cheek. “Just how much did you drink?

rinky, he teased.

Natasha finally recognized his voice, but she was still unsure if it was really him. ‘You left with Lizzie, didn’t you?’ Natasha thought, puzzled. ‘How did you come back to find me so soon?’ she wondered, confused.

She forced her blurry eyes open, desperately trying to confirm what was happening in her drunken haze. ‘Is the man in front of me really Jared?’ Natasha questioned herself, her mind still foggy.

“Hey, I’m asking you; how much did you drink?” Jared pressed, sounding a little impatient.

Jared noticed Natasha just kept staring at him, totally out of it. He reached over and pinched her cheek, not gently. He repeated, “How much did you drink?”

Natasha winced at the sting. Her vision finally cleared, and she could make out the man standing before her. She realized that it really was Jared.

“Not much; just two bottles, that’s all…” Natasha slurred, still tipsy and trying to play it cool. She held up two fingers for Jared to see, waving them in his face with a drunken, innocent look.

Jared glanced at the empty bottles on the coffee table, his face falling. “Since when did you get so gutsy? Downing all this at once?” he teased, half-mocking.

Natasha snorted slightly and turned her head to the side. She really hadn’t drunk much today. She had just been exchanging toasts with her colleagues, only taking tiny sips each time.

It was an all-girls gathering, and none of them could really hold their liquor. So nobody expected anyone to drink much, but just a token sip to keep up appearances.

Andrea only ended up drinking so much after witnessing Jared leaving with Lizzie, which deeply affected her, though she kept reminding herself she shouldn’t care since she and Jared were only friends with benefits.

‘It has nothing to do with me who he left with, especially Lizzie, the woman Jared’s family has chosen for him, she thought. ‘Who am I to be jealous, anyway?’
