Lily’s eyes widened in shock.

She couldn’t believe her son was actually speaking up for Natasha.

If Percy and Natasha hadn’t already broken up, Lily would’ve thought he had a thing for Natasha.

“No matter what, you’re the Grosso family’s heir. The Grosso legacy depends on you. I can cover for your breakup for a while, but not forever. Your dad will arrange your marriage sooner or later. At the very least, it’ll be to an heiress from a powerful family,” Lily warned with a serious look.

With his status changed, his responsibilities had grown, too.

Whether he liked it or not, marrying a wealthy heiress and starting a family soon was what he had to do to keep his spot as the Grosso heir.

When Natasha woke up, it was already bright outside.

She slept in Jared’s room last night.

Jared kept his promise and didn’t come in to disturb her.

When Natasha got up to wash her face, she noticed a bunch of girly things had appeared in the bathroom.

There was a pink towel, a pink toothbrush, and a pink mug, too.

Clearly, they were meant for her.

No way those just showed up on their own.

A single thought flashed through her head. ‘He’s been scheming this for ages.”

Jared dragged her home last night and got all this ready just for her.

‘Is he trying to tempt me into living with him?’ she wondered.

Even though she’d already turned him down last night, it seemed he remained persistent.

After washing up, Natasha headed downstairs.

She expected to see Jared in the dining room

But to her surprise, he wasn’t there.

‘Where did he go? Did he already head to work?’ she thought.

Just as Natasha was about to head for the door, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure standing on the grass outside.

It was Jared, his back to her, talking on the phone.

He was dressed in workout gear and running shoes.

He had just gotten back from his morning run.

Natasha was about to walk over to him.

However, she heard Jared, phone in hand, sounding annoyed as he spoke to his mom on the other end.

“Mom, can you stop bringing up Lizzie? I don’t like her, and I’ve already made that clear to her,” Jared said.

He had the phone on speaker.

Even from a distance, Natasha could hear Luna’s voice coming through the phone.

“Even if you don’t like Lizzie, that doesn’t mean you can go after Natasha!” Luna said.

“With your status, you could have any girl you want. Why do you have to pick her of all people?” Luna pressed.

Jared’s brows furrowed. “Did Lizzie tell on me?”

Luna shot back, annoyed, “Tell on you? I was the one who asked her how things were going between you two. She just kept hemming and hawing, couldn’t get a word out until I pressed her for ages. And she kept telling me not to blame you! Tell me, where else are you going to find a daughter-in-law as considerate as Lizzie these days?”

Jared dismissed it. “If she really didn’t want you to know, she shouldn’t have been making stuff up in front of you.”

Luna snapped, “Making stuff up? Just answer me. Are you really into Natasha?”

“I am!” Jared was not holding back.

Luna was so angry that her voice was shaking. “Are you crazy? You’re passing up Lizzie, who’s got everything going for her. to chase after a married woman? Did some homewrecker mess with your head or what?”

Jared shot back, “I’m not out of my mind. I know exactly what I want. Right now, it’s only her. No one else matters to me!”

Luna was so mad she could barely get the words out. “Are you seriously saying Lizzie can’t even compare to an illegitimate girl?”

Jared didn’t even hesitate. “Not even close!”

Luna snapped, “Are you blind or what? What’s not to like about Lizzie? She’s the top socialite. She’s gorgeous, comes from

a great family, and has a great personality. There are tons of guys lining up to date…”

“If you like her so much, why not just make her your daughter?” Jared cut her off, his voice cold.

Luna snapped, “I don’t need a daughter, I just want a daughter-in-law!”

Jared shot back, “You’ll get your daughter-in-law soon, but it sure as hell won’t be her!”

With that, he hung up, not giving Luna another chance to nag him.

She saw that Jared was just about to turn around, so Natasha bolted back the way she came.

Her mind was all over the place. Overhearing Jared’s call with his mom had left her totally shocked.

She never expected Luna to call and check in on Jared and Lizzie.

From their conversation; it was clear Luna was super happy with Lizzie.

However, Lizzie had already spilled the beans to Luna about her and Jared.

In Luna’s mind, Natasha was probably just some shameless homewrecker.

She probably thought Natasha was the reason her son couldn’t end up with the legit heiress.

Natasha rushed upstairs to her room.

She closed the door, leaned against it, and gasped for breath.

Her emotions were all over the place; her chest felt heavy.

She felt like crying.

She was just some nobody, born out of wedlock.

Meanwhile, Lizzie was the top socialite, a real heiress from a powerful family.

She could never compete with Lizzie.

Perhaps Jared was thinking in the short term, which explained why he seemed to like her more.
