An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 293

Chapter 293 She Wanted Him

Chapter 293 She Wanted Him

Natasha stood outside the door, listening.

A cold smirk appeared on her lips.

She’d already guessed that Bernard never truly intended to leave Whittier Group to her.

But the truth was even more brutal than she’d imagined.

Bernard didn’t actually want to give her Whittier Group or any shares. He was planning to use her as a pawn.

He was using her to rescue Whittier Group from crisis, to eliminate any rivals for Collin and Joelle, and to pave the way for them to inherit everything.

Once she’d done all that, she’d be tossed aside.

Luckily, Natasha had never really held out much hope of inheriting Whittier Group.

After all, if she never hoped for it, she couldn’t be disappointed.

So even now, hearing the truth, her heart barely stirred.

Without a second glance, Natasha turned and left, her face utterly indifferent.

In the evening, Natasha stepped out of Milford Group’s building.

Suddenly, a familiar figure approached her. “Ms. Whittier.”

It was Darren, Bernard’s assistant.

Natasha could already guess what he wanted. She didn’t even bother acknowledging him, turned and walked away.

But Darren quickly stepped in front of her. “Ms. Whittier, Mr. Whittier wants you to come back.”

Natasha knew exactly why Bernard was suddenly summoning her.

It was another attempt to get her to accept the will, quit her job, and go back to Whittier Group to pave the way for Collin and Joelle.

“Excuse me, I have things to take care of. I can’t go back,” Natasha said, her voice calm and distant.

But Darren wasn’t giving up. He trailed after her, determined.

“Ms. Whittier, Mr. Whittier really has something important he needs to talk to you about…”

Before he could finish, Natasha stopped and turned around to face him.

“Darren, that’s enough. Please go back and tell my father I won’t accept the will, and I won’t be working at Whittier Group,” she said.

“Ms. Whittier…” Darren stepped forward and grabbed her arm, still trying to persuade her.

Then, a car horn blared nearby.

Natasha turned to look.

It was a prestigious Rolls-Royce, which was Jared’s car.

At a glance, she spotted that familiar, tall figure in the back seat.

Of course, it was Jared.

“Get in the car!” Jared ordered.

He lowered the back window and gave her a direct command.

But Natasha stood there, not moving an inch.

She stared straight at him, her gaze unwavering.

If she got into Jared’s car right now, with Darren watching, he’d definitely start suspecting there was something going on between her and Jared.

But if she didn’t, Darren might drag her off to Whittier Manor by force.

Right now, she didn’t want to see Bernard, Bernard, not even a little.

She hesitated, weighing her options.

Natasha finally made up her mind.

She opened the car door and slid into Jared’s luxury ride.

With Darren still staring in shock, Natasha coolly got in and left him behind without a second glance.

Natasha sat quietly by the window, not saying a word for a long time.

Jared reached over and gently took her hand.

“What’s wrong? Feeling down?” Jared asked, his voice soft.

Natasha gave a bitter smile. “Yeah.”

Jared couldn’t help but suggest, “Why don’t you come over to my place tonight? I promise I’ll make you feel a whole lot better.”

Natasha narrowed her eyes, watching him closely.

Of course, she knew exactly what Jared was really offering.

If she went to his place, there was no way things would stay that simple.

“I want to go to a bar,” Natasha said suddenly, sounding troubled.

She needed to release the pent-up emotions weighing on her heart.

Jared immediately told the driver where to go.

Soon enough, his Rolls-Royce pulled up outside a bar.

Natasha got out and headed inside with him.

Natasha stepped inside and realized this bar was really something else, totally different from any she’d seen before.

The place was split up into different areas.

Each area had its own theme.

Each theme was unique.

Jared led Natasha through each area of the bar.

Some zones were buzzing with energy, some were cool and subdued, and others were intense or downright wild.

Natasha chose a quiet area.

It felt like a sanctuary carved out from the chaos of the city.

It was a place where she could truly unwind and relax.

She glanced around at their booth, surrounded by a wash of deep blue, almost like they were floating in the middle of the

sea.

It was as if the whole place was an endless ocean.

Natasha sank into the booth’s soft, comfy sofa.

Jared snapped his fingers, and a waiter appeared instantly to ask what they wanted to drink.

Jared fixed his intense gaze on her, clearly leaving the choice up to her.

“Whatever,” Natasha shrugged, not really caring.

She gestured dismissively, making it clear she didn’t mind what they ordered.

As long as there was booze, she was good.

Jared rattled off a bunch of cocktail names in Ghearnian to the waiter.

Natasha didn’t even listen to what he ordered.

When the waiter came back, he set down a line of glasses filled with bright blue liquid.

They looked absolutely stunning.

Natasha picked up one of the glasses and knocked it back in one swift motion.

“Tastes pretty good,” she said.

She ran her tongue over her lower lip, clearly enjoying the drink.

Jared’s gaze deepened, his eyes growing darker as he watched her.

Natasha picked up another glass and tossed it back without hesitation.

She kept knocking them back, one after another.

But before she could grab the next one, Jared caught her wrist.

“That’s enough. No more,” he said, his tone firm.

He’d watched her down a few drinks in a row.

With her tolerance, she’d be wasted if she kept going.

“Why can’t I drink more?” Natasha shot back, her voice sharp.

She shoved his hand away and grabbed another glass, downing it in one go.

She was really annoyed right now.

She needed alcohol to numb herself, to drown out everything inside.

But she knew she’d had too much to drink.

Her cheeks flushed with heat.

Her throat burned, making her cough.

Jared stayed quietly by her side, watching her try to drink herself numb.

A hint of tenderness flashed in his deep, dark eyes.

“What’s wrong? Did someone bully you?” Jared asked, unable to hide his concern.

Natasha shook her head. “No one’s bullying me…”

Jared wasn’t convinced. “You wouldn’t be drinking if no one bullied you, right?”

Natasha pressed her lips together, saying nothing.

She kept knocking back drinks, not caring how many she had.

Jared reached out to stop her again. “Seriously, you need to stop now.”

Natasha smiled at him.
