At the hospital, the doctor gave Natasha a thorough check-up, with Jared personally overseeing the whole thing.
“Ms. Whittier just passed out from the shock, Mr. Rundell. She’s fine now, but she should get plenty of rest and stick to light meals for a while,” the doctor said.
Jared nodded.
He had the medical staff wheel Natasha to a VIP room.
Just then, his phone rang.
One of his men called to report, “Sir, we’ve caught the guy who sent Ms. Whittier to the underground warehouse. But he stubborn. No matter how we press him, he won’t say who was behind it. He keeps insisting it was just an accident.”
Jared’s eyes narrowed.
He said in a low, commanding voice, “Do I really need to teach you how to loosen his tongue?”
The man quickly replied, “Don’t worry, sir. I’ll get him to spill, no matter what.”
Jared’s eyes flashed with sharp intent. “Make Joelle, her half-sister, your top priority.”
The last time he kissed Natasha in the warehouse, Joelle happened to walk in on them.
Joelle even got Alfred to give Natasha a hard time.
‘So, odds are, Joelle’s the one behind all this, Jared thought to himself.
“Got it!” the man replied.
After hanging up. Jared walked over to the VIP room.
Natasha was still out cold.
Her delicate face was still pale, her whole face still marked with tear stains.
Jared’s heart ached when he saw Natasha like this.
He got some warm water himself, soaked a towel, leaned in, and gently wiped her face.
Once her face was clean, he finally sat back, feeling satisfied.
He sat by her bedside, his intense eyes locked onto Natasha.
He thought about how she’d agreed to be his girlfriend, and his eyes grew gentle.
But then, remembering how she’d been locked in that warehouse and how terrified she must have been, pain flashed across his face, his heart aching for her all over again.
Jared gripped her hand, the one resting outside the blanket, tightly.
“Nat, don’t worry. I’ve got you. I promise I’ll find out the truth and make things right for you,” he said softly.
Natasha slept through the night at the hospital.
Chapter 335
When she woke up, she found Jared resting his head on her bedside.
He must have stayed up all night, keeping watch beside my bed, Natasha thought.
After sleeping through the night, she was feeling a lot better.
She needed to get up and use the bathroom.
As soon as she stirred. Jared woke up right away
Jared noticed her eyes flutter open and asked softly. “You’re awake?”
Natasha nodded.
She noticed his eyes were bloodshot.
His face looked pale and haggard. his jaw rough with stubble.
Her heart clenched.
Jared looked even more worn out than she did.
He must’ve spent the whole night worrying about me. Natasha thought, feeling a pang of guilt.
“I’m okay now,” she said softly, hoping to put him at ease.
Jared nodded, his gaze gentle.
I’m so relieved you’re okay. Do you feel unwell anywhere else?” he asked.
Natasha sat up and shook her head.
“No. I’m fine. Did I put you to any trouble yesterday?” she asked.
She knew that Jared showing up at Whittier Group to rescue her would definitely attract a lot of attention.
If people found out about their relationship, Harley would have another piece of leverage over him.
She didn’t want to be his weakness.
She didn’t want to be the reason anyone could use against him.
“Silly girl,” Jared chuckled, ruffling her hair with a look full of affection.
“I like it when you need me,” he teased.
Natasha blinked at him, a bit stunned.
Jared gave her cheek a playful squeeze. “Are you hungry?”
As soon as he asked, Nat suddenly noticed her stomach was rumbling.
“Yeah, she replied.
Jared’s voice softened. “I’ll have someone bring breakfast in.”
Natasha quickly said, “Wait a second, I need to use the bathroom first.”
With that, she threw back the covers, got out of bed, and dashed into the bathroom, blushing.

After all, now that Percy was the Grosso family’s heir, he’d already tossed her aside.
Joelle was dumping all her resentment on Natasha.
But in the Whittier family, Joelle had always been the golden child. Natasha couldn’t understand why Joelle suddenly wanted her gone for good.
She had spent far too long in the bathroom.
Jared’s men had already brought breakfast in.
But she still hadn’t come out.
Jared finally walked over and knocked on the bathroom door.
“Nat?” he called gently from outside the bathroom door.
“I’m here! I’ll be out in a sec,” Natasha replied instantly.
She quickly straightened herself up and opened the bathroom door.
Jared looked genuinely worried, his handsome face tense as he watched her.
“Hey, are you okay? Why have you stayed in there for so long?” he asked.
Natasha managed a smile.
“I’m good, really!” she said.
Jared looked her over carefully, making sure she was really alright before finally letting out a breath of relief.
“Breakfast’s here. Eat while it’s still warm,” he reminded her softly.
Natasha nodded.
She climbed back into bed.
Jared set up the tray table for her.
He then placed the breakfast on the tray, one by one.
Natasha started eating, but her mind was elsewhere.
“Hey, would you like to have some too?” Natasha suddenly looked up, her eyes full of concern.
She knew he’d stayed by her bedside all night, probably not sleeping a wink.
‘He definitely hasn’t had breakfast yet either,’ Natasha thought.
“Mm,” Jared replied.
Honestly, Jared only wanted to sit there and watch her eat quietly.
But when Natasha invited him, he couldn’t help but feel a little moved.
He sat down by her bedside and joined her for breakfast.
I can stay here by myself, really. You don’t have to stick around for me. Just go handle your business,” Natasha said halfway through their meal.
