Chapter 339
“You might’ve managed to snag Jared through some shady means, but Harley is still his uncle and the chairman of Rundell Group.
“Do you really think Jared would risk offending his uncle just to sign the cooperation deal with you?” Joelle taunted, unable to hide the gloating in her voice.
Natasha just snorted, unfazed. “So, Joelle, did you secure all your past cooperation contracts not by your own ability, bu only by pulling strings?”
Joelle was rendered speechless.
She couldn’t even get a word out.
After a moment, she forced herself to retort, “Of course not!”
The truth was, she had never needed to strive on her own to land cooperation deals before.
Roxanne would always arrange for someone to handle such matters for her so she could impress her father.
But any success was credited to her.
So, Joelle honestly had no idea how to secure this cooperation deal on her own.
But her father had always favored her.
He even told her directly that Harley had returned to Rundell Group and was now running things.
It was basically a reminder that with Harley in charge, he would never let Jared sign the contract for Natasha’s sake.
In other words, Joelle’s chances of winning were very high.
That was why she was so eager to take on this challenge.
‘As long as I can defeat Natasha and make sure she never gets a chance to rise in the Whittier Group, Joelle thought, ‘what does it matter even if Dad gave her a small share of the company?
‘I’ll still be the Whittier family’s heiress, with all the power and status.
‘And Natasha is only fit to be an illegitimate child hidden away forever!
Natasha let out a mocking laugh. “If that’s true, then why are you so panicked, Joelle?”
Joelle had her true thoughts seen through, and she was utterly embarrassed.
“Who says I’m panicked? You’re the one who should be freaking out! Let’s see how you’ll explain yourself to Dad later.” Joelle spat, her words sharp and full of spite.
With that, she spun around and stormed off.
Natasha grabbed the contract and made her way back to her own spot.
She plopped down and immediately dove right into the contract, studying every line.
There were obvious flaws in its terms.
Honestly, this deal was anything but a normal, reasonable investment.

Chapter 339
Anyone could tell at a glance that Rundell Group was getting totally screwed over.
Whittier Group stood to gain all the advantages for nothing.

No wonder Dad pushed me to try and persuade Jared to sign it, Natasha thought. ‘He obviously knew there was something fishy about this contract.”
Under normal circumstances, Rundell Group would never agree to sign it.
They probably wouldn’t even give it a second glance.
But her father still insisted she go and try to get Jared to sign the contract.
Jared will have to be crazy to agree to this, Natasha complained inwardly. ‘And given how clever he is, he’s far from being
crazy.
‘So, there’s no way Rundell Group would ever sign this contract.
‘But now, Jared and I were dating. We’re in a romantic relationship.
‘What’s more, he knows perfectly well what my position is like in the Whittier family and at Whittier Group.
Who knows if he’ll actually sign this contract just for me?”
Natasha’s expression turned serious, especially when she remembered Joelle’s words from earlier.
She couldn’t help but think. ‘Now that Harley has returned to Rundell Group and taken over, Jared probably won’t have an easy time at Rundell Group.
With an uncle like Harley constantly scheming against him, if Jared goes against everyone and signs the contract for me under these circumstances, Harley will definitely seize the opportunity to make trouble for him.
Then this contract will become leverage against Jared, and a powerful tool for Harley to bring him down.”
Natasha’s heart clenched, thinking, ‘Fortunately, I’ve carefully gone through the contract and figured out its hidden pitfalls.
‘If I had foolishly taken this contract to Jared for signature, I would have fallen right into the trap set by Harley and my dad.
‘Dad has always sided with Harley from the very start, and he never truly intended to support Jared.
‘Now, he’s even more shameless, using his own daughter as a pawn to set Jared up.”
Once Natasha realized all this, she made up her mind.
There was no way she’d ever show Jared this contract, much less let him sign it.
{
At worst, she could just let Joelle win this round.
She might end up stuck in the project department forever with no chance of promotion.
But she would never allow herself to become Jared’s weakness or leverage against him, to be exploited by those with ulterior
