Chapter 4 The New CEO
Chapter 4 The New CEO
It was a sleepless night.
The deep, throbbing ache between her thighs and the heavy emotional blow Natasha had taken made catching any real rest impossible.
Thankfully, she still managed to make it to work on time the next morning.
But the moment Natasha stepped into the office, she could tell the vibe was completely off.
“We are getting a brand new CEO today. Just parachuting right in,” her work bestie Dorothy Stetson whispered, dropping the massive news.
So that was it. A massive corporate shakeup.
No wonder every single woman in the bullpen had a compact mirror out and was frantically touching up her lipstick and pulling down her cleavage.
“Natasha, what the hell are you doing? Hurry up and get ready!” Dorothy scolded.
Seeing Natasha’s utter lack of enthusiasm, she grabbed her arm and shoved her into a rolling chair. “Your makeup is way too plain. Let me sex you up a bit.”
Natasha quickly dodged the makeup brush and brushed off the panic. “What does a new CEO have to do with me? I have a mountain of paperwork to get through.”
Ever since college graduation, Roxanne had banished her to this dead-end subsidiary.
The official excuse was that she needed outside corporate experience. The harsh reality was that the bitch was keeping her as far away from the family empire; Whittier Group, as humanly possible.
The main company was strictly reserved for her older half-siblings, Collin and Joelle, to inherit.
As the unwelcome bastard daughter born to her father’s mistress, Natasha was never going to get a seat at the big boys’ table.
It did not matter that she had always been at the top of her class, working twice as hard as her spoiled siblings.
She was not the golden boy Collin, nor was she the pampered princess Joelle.
So the second she got her degree, she was shut out of the family legacy.
And her own mother Sandra, passive and weak as always, had not uttered a single word in her defense.
Natasha was used to it. After a lifetime of eating shit, she had learned to simply adapt.
Roxanne hated when she stood out, and Sandra would never fight for her.
For the past two years, she had kept her head down, quietly working as an invisible, low-level clerk.
She didn’t fight for recognition. She avoided any potential conflicts of interest with Collin and Joelle.
She was not gunning for a promotion, and she did not give a damn about a raise. Therefore, the arrival of some hotshot executive meant absolutely nothing to her.
Dorothy pushed her firmly back into her seat and looked at her like she was insane. “You hear a new CEO is coming and you literally do not care? Do you have a pulse?
“Every man and woman in this building is busting their ass right now to look fuckable, hoping to catch his eye on day one.
“I know you are naturally gorgeous with killer bone structure, but you cannot just let yourself go!
“I did some digging. Word is the new boss is young, filthy rich, and incredibly hot. It definitely would not hurt to spread our legs a little if it gets us on his good side.”
Natasha felt a headache coming on. “Then you make yourself look pretty. I seriously don’t need this, Dorothy. I have work to do.”
But Dorothy held her in place. “Look, if he doesn’t want to screw me, maybe he will want you! I have finally figured out corporate here. Hard work and talent are bullshit.
“Having a powerful man backing you up and slipping into your bed is the real key to survival. If the new CEO wants to fuck us, no one in this hellhole will ever dare mess with us again.”
By ten o’clock, the ground floor lobby was absolutely packed.
Everyone stood at attention, craning their necks toward the glass entrance, waiting for the VIP to arrive.
Dorothy had ruthlessly elbowed her way through the crowd, dragging Natasha right to the front row.

“We are way too close,” Natasha muttered.
She was just about to step back into the safety of the crowd when the new CEO finally made his entrance.
A fleet of black SUVs flanked a sleek, ultra-luxurious Rolls-Royce, rolling to a smooth stop right outside the building
The heavy car door swung open, and a man stepped out.
He was dressed in a razor-sharp tailored suit, his eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses. His frame was imposing, radiating a dominant, primal alpha energy that commanded instant submission.
Flanked by a dozen intimidating bodyguards, he strode into the lobby like a king claiming his territory.
The sheer display of raw masculinity was breathtaking.
Every single person in the lobby stood frozen, completely captivated and deeply intimidated by the unapologetic aura rolling off of him.
Instinctively, Natasha lifted her gaze to look at the man.
The moment she did, her breath caught in her throat and her core clenched.
Her eyes widened in absolute shock, her face locked in an expression of pure disbelief. ‘How the hell is it him?’
The newly appointed CEO was the exact same doctor who had examined her naked body at the hospital.
Her mind reeled as she stared. ‘How the hell is this possible? Isn’t he a doctor?’
Natasha was half convinced she was hallucinating, She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head, desperately trying to clear her vision.
But when she opened her eyes again, the man had actually stopped walking. He was standing directly in front of her.
Natasha’s lungs completely forgot how to take in air.
She watched helplessly as Jared slowly turned his head, his predatory gaze locking onto hers.
At this distance, there was zero chance she was mistaken.
The flawlessly chiseled jaw, the intense features. It was the undeniable star of the filthy, dripping wet fantasies that had kept her fingering herself and tossing all night.
Her heart hammered against her ribs. ‘It really is him. Oh my God. How is this happening?’
Natasha’s mind completely short-circuited, a loud, chaotic ringing echoing in her ears as the reality of the situation crashed down on her.
Jared let his gaze drag over her body for barely a few seconds before looking away. He acted ice cold, totally indifferent, looking at her like she was just another nameless stranger.
The rest of the staff finally snapped out of their collective trance, practically chanting in unison. “Good morning, Mr. Rundell.”
Watching his broad, muscular back disappear into the private executive elevator, Natasha felt her stomach drop completely.
She pinched her own arm hard and winced at the sharp sting. ‘Fuck, that hurts. Definitely not a dream then.’
Desperate for a way out, she clung to a shred of naive hope. ‘Maybe there is another explanation. Maybe this new billionaire boss just happens to be a dead ringer for that insanely hot doctor.
‘They have to be two totally different guys!
Dorothy, tugged on her sleeve with eyes full of suspicion. “Natasha, do you know the big boss?”
Snapping back to reality, Natasha blinked. “What?”
Dorothy leaned in, her eyes shining with absolute gossip. “I totally saw him stop and check you out just now. Do you think he wants to date you?”
Natasha scoffed nervously. “Are you insane? You are definitely seeing things.”
Without waiting for a response, Natasha bolted for the ladies room.
She cranked the faucet and splashed freezing water over her flushed cheeks, desperate to cool down her heated skin and get a grip.
Back in the hallway, Dorothy stood frozen in confusion, muttering to herself. ‘Did I seriously just imagine that?’
By the time Natasha dragged herself back to the bullpen, the entire floor was already buzzing with juicy rumors about the new CEO.
“Did you guys hear?” one of the girls gossiped loudly. “His mom is the Chief of Staff over at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and his
