The situation reached a deadlock. Then Reid spoke up softly, “I can pretend to be Rosalie. You take the real Rosalie back to get treated.”
Among all those present, only Reid had a physique similar to Rosalie’s. Once he was wrapped in thick fur hide, no one could tell the difference unless they looked very closely.
Cameron refused right away. “No. That’s too dangerous. You could get killed.”
Reid’s eyes lit up. “It’s okay. If they find out, you can just grab me and run.”
Leon and Gael stayed silent. Cameron looked at Rosalie, her face burning red from the fever.
Reid nodded at him. In the end, Cameron could only agree.
They split into two groups. Leon carried Rosalie and hurried back first.
Gael and Cameron stayed behind with Reid. That way, if Bert caught up, he would think Reid was Rosalie.
Leon lifted Rosalie onto his back. Cameron looked at him seriously. “Protect the Matriarch.”
“I will,” Leon said, then turned and ran, his steps fast and steady.
Reid stood beside Cameron, uneasy, clutching his arm tightly.
Cameron rubbed his head.
“Stay close to me. I’ll keep you safe.”
The snow grew lighter, and Leon moved even faster.
Suddenly, someone blocked his path.
Leon froze in shock. “Micah? What are you doing here?”
Standing in front of him were Micah, Julien, Declan, and Elijah, whose face was pale from the cold.
Micah stepped forward and took Rosalie from Leon’s back.
The heat from her body startled him. “What happened to her?” Micah asked, frowning.
Julien explained why they were there.
“We knew you’d be heading back soon, so we came to meet you. It started snowing halfway, so we went back to put on warmer clothes.”
He looked at Rosalie, worried. “What’s wrong with the Matriarch? Does she have a fever?”
Anyone could see something was wrong. Feeling warmth at last, Rosalie slowly opened her eyes.
Through her blurred vision, she saw Micah’s shape. She thought she was dreaming. “Micah, I really miss you,” she whispered.

Her vision doubled. She could no longer tell what was real.
Rosalie’s body felt like a furnace. They couldn’t waste any more time.
Micah turned to Declan. He already had a good idea what Declan’s beast form was.
He handed Rosalie to Elijah and pulled Declan aside to a quiet spot.

“Declan,” Micah said directly, “you’re fast. Change into your beast form and take the matriarch back first.”
Declan agreed without hesitation.
Once Rosalie was handed over, Declan would transform. Since he could fly, even at the slowest pace, he would reach home within a day.
After Declan left with Rosalie, the rest gathered together. Leon explained that Bert was chasing them and that Rosalie was his main target.
Elijah’s already pale face turned cold and sharp. His brows lowered, killing intent clear. “Anyone who dares set their sights on the Matriarch deserves to die.”
Leon felt the same. If he hadn’t been carrying Rosalie, he would have fought Bert to the death.
Now that the matriarch was safe, he could finally fight without holding back.
They even had two extra helpers. It was more than enough to deal with those beastmen.
Cameron’s group was still behind to draw Bert’s attention, so there was no time to lose. They split into three paths. Two would set an ambush. Leon went back to find Cameron and the others.
Cameron kept walking at a normal pace. Reid’s grip on his hand grew tighter and tighter. That only meant one thing-Bert was getting closer.
At last, Reid yanked his arm hard.
Cameron stopped. “They’re here,” Reid said.
Less than 15 minutes later, messy footsteps rushed in from all sides. Cameron, Gael, and Reid were completely surrounded,
Reid buried his face against Cameron’s chest, making sure Bert couldn’t see it.
Bert looked at the three of them calmly, not in a hurry at all.
Gael’s eyes turned cold as ice. “What do you want from us?”

Apocalypse? | Prefer the Beast World Real Estate Market
Chapter 220 The Chase in the Snow
Bert stayed calm. He walked in a slow circle around the three of them, studying them like prey.
“So,” he said casually, “you’re all her husbands, right?”

He sneered and said, “You’re strong beastmen, yet you lower yourselves to serve a female. Doesn’t that feel shameful?”
Bert had clearly misunderstood. He thought the one Cameron was protecting was Rosalie.
Cameron and the others didn’t correct him. The longer they stalled, the farther the matriarch could get
away.
