Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies novel Chapter 229

Only then did the scowl on Lei Qian’s face ease a little. He ran his fingers through his hair and said, "It’s alright."

Though he tried to act cool and mysterious, the curl of his lips gave him away.

Bai Meiyue looked at the man who was acting like a child and was quite amused. She tugged the straps of the bag and said to Lei Qian, "Let’s go; we still need to catch two cows."

After speaking, she turned on her feet and walked out of the small tiled house. Lei Qian immediately followed her out when he saw Bai Meiyue leave. With the antique in her hands, Bai Meiyue was much more relaxed.

She stopped looking around and seriously started searching for the mutated cows. With Lei Qian’s help, it didn’t take long for them to find a horde of cows.

When Bai Meiyue found the horde of mutated cows, they were munching on the flesh of a dead mutated rat. The sight was quite unsightly and made her stomach churn with disgust.

Even Bai Meiyue didn’t know how she suppressed the nausea and stepped forward.

Using her ice abilities, she froze the feet of the mutated cows and finally picked two healthy ones.

Of course, the mutated cows didn’t make things easier for them. Even though they couldn’t move from their spots, they tried to bite off Bai Meiyue’s and Lei Qian’s arms when they tried to tie the muzzle around their mouths.

"Can you freeze their mouths for a while?" Lei Qian asked when the cow tried to bite his hand for the third time.

Only then did Bai Meiyue remember that, like the feet of these cows, she could freeze their mouths as well. She flashed a cheeky smile to Lei Qian before doing what he suggested.

Lei Qian snorted upon seeing her smile. He didn’t say anything and calmly waited for the ice to freeze the mouths of these mutated cows. Once their mouths were sealed with ice, Lei Qian tied their mouths with ropes in such a manner that even if the ice melted, these cows wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone.

"Where did you learn to tie rope like this?" Bai Meiyue asked curiously when she saw the knot that Lei Qian had tied around the jaws of the mutated cows.

Lei Qian finished pulling the end of the rope and turned to look at Bai Meiyue before saying to her, "In the army. I started as a small soldier who was responsible for buying groceries. My senior taught me how to tie the boxes; that’s how I learned to tie knots like this."

Meng Guo turned to look at the buns that Bai Meiyue was holding in front of him but he didn’t reach out to take them. The last time he took a bun, he was beaten by his father. If he took these buns, would he be beaten again?

He turned and looked at his mother, who quickly waved her hands and said to Bai Meiyue, "There is no need. We have caused enough trouble for you and your team. I am sorry for bothering you. Don’t worry, I will take Guo Guo away once we find a safe house."

"This is for your son and not you." Bai Meiyue handed the buns to Jiang Haidai and said to her, "No matter what, you shouldn’t harm the child’s health. A child around his age needs to eat and sleep well. If he doesn’t eat, he will be up for the entire night."

"If he gets fussy in the morning, won’t you cause us even more trouble?"

After speaking, she thrust the box of milk and jerky in the hands of the little boy. Meng Guo was indeed hungry and as soon as these good things were pushed in his hands, he was attracted by their smell but he still didn’t rush to eat them.

Instead, he turned to look at his mother and brought the straw of the milk box to the lips of his mother.

"Mom, drink," Meng Guo might be a bit slow but he knew that his mother hadn’t eaten anything from the past few days. So, how could he eat and drink well when his mother was hungry?
