Shen Zhen sighed. She set down the pen in her hands and brushed her hair off her face before saying to Bai Meiyue. "I am trying to keep up with the consumption and the number of supplies." She raised her head and looked at Bai Meiyue with a worried look. "It seems like I underestimated the appetites of these babies; they actually finished a part of the milk powder and two sets of nappies."
"Did they?" Bai Meiyue leaned down and looked at the accounts that Shen Zhen had made and was speechless when she saw that more than one-eighth of the milk powder was gone! These kids really had a big appetite; compared to them, her son was really weak. But when she thought about it, maybe it was her son who was born with a frail body and couldn't eat his fill.
In the past, the hospital staff didn't have a lot of milk powder, and the babies were surviving on a very thin slurry of milk powder. Because of this, the babies didn't dirty the nappies they were wearing, and they could be changed in a few hours but now that the babies were being fed a decent meal, they were not only finishing the milk powder but also the nappies.
And the babies were not the only ones they needed to care for. The children from the orphanage were also growing, and they needed decent meals instead of just boiled instant noodles. However, they did not have enough supplies to feed the children, which troubled Shen Zhen.
"I think that at this rate, we will have to go on hunts every other day. The children need proper nutrition, and we don't have enough vegetables or meat to feed them. And then there is also the matter of the babies and their milk powder. If this goes on, then they would end up drinking every single bit of it."
Shen Zhen was running out of options. Other than going on hunts, she could not see any other options.
"There is no need to worry for the time being." Bai Meiyue told Shen Zhen. "I have arranged for some nappies before the apocalypse; you can tell me the sizes that you want, and I will hand them to you."
"As for going on hunts, I think you should take it easy for the time being. You need to take care of the babies and the children; if you keep driving yourself hard, I am worried that you will end up falling sick."
"I will go outside tomorrow or the day after that and see if I can find more nappies."
Bai Meiyue was not worried about running out of nappies. Even if she ran out of them, she would just ask for them on the barter system. Nappies were the easiest things to get!
The reason why she wanted to go out for a hunt was that she wanted to get her hands on some gold and jade jewellery. She also wanted to take down the antiques bought by the rich people in the past. If she was not wrong, there were countless rich men and women who lived in the southern district. Unless they were crazy, those people must have left behind the antiques and the unique paintings and medicines that they purchased at the auction.
Bai Meiyue, in fact, went crazy. There were a few times when she went with Little Cai Cai, and in the end, the poor child cried so hard that Bai Meiyue couldn't bear to bring him along with her.
She didn't want her son to suffer, so she left him behind in hopes that he would be much safer than he was with her.
A dark glint flashed in Bai Meiyue's eyes as she sighed and said to Shen Zhen, "There is no need to resort to cotton nappies. They are hard to deal with, and even if you use cloth nappies, I still have to head out and hunt zombies. The children cannot rely on instant noodles, can they?"
After she finished speaking, Shen Zhen could no longer stop her. She could only sigh and then say to Bai Meiyue, "But even if you are heading out, you shouldn't go out alone; you should think of a way to bring Lei Qian with you. I think that will be much safer for you and your child."
Shen Zhen no longer took Bai Meiyue as an acquaintance; instead, she took her as her saviour. Since their relationship had changed, it was only right for her to care about Bai Meiyue, who had saved her life when she nearly gave up on it herself!
