Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies novel Chapter 441

When Bai Meiyue woke up the next day, she patted the side of her bed but didn't find Lei Qian sleeping next to her. She slowly pushed herself off the bed and then picked up her phone, which was sitting on the side cabinet. As soon as she picked it up, Bai Meiyue saw the message that was displayed on the screen. It seemed like Lei Qian had to head out because of something that happened in the hospital where his grandfather was recuperating.

Though Lei Qian didn't say what it was because he didn't want to worry her,

Bai Meiyue knew what was going on. With the ruckus that Dacheng had caused, Bai Meiyue would be surprised if the second branch of the Lei family didn't find out about her pregnancy. However, Bai Meiyue didn't rush over.

This was Lei Qian's battle, and he needed to prove that he was worthy of the trust that she was putting in him. If he couldn't even protect her and their child when faced with something so small, how was he going to protect them?

So, instead of rushing to his aid, Bai Meiyue arched her body slightly and then got out the bed before heading downstairs.

Bai Meiyue was spot on with her guess. With the rumours flying around the entire building, it didn't take long for Lei Wu to find out that Lei Qian was going to become a father and the mother of the child was none other than Bai Meiyue!

Lei Wu, who had not even set the plan to woo Bai Meiyue in motion, was stupefied when he heard the piece of news. For a few good seconds, he thought that it was a lie. A rumour was spreading through the apartment building, but soon he came to terms that it was not a lie.

The first thing he did after finding out that Lei Qian had once again thwarted his plans was to tell his mother about it. He rushed to the apartment, where he relayed the news to his parents, who were both alarmed and unhappy when they found out that Lei Qian was going to be a father.

Even though they no longer had the Lei corporation that they wanted to snatch from Lei Qian, they still needed to rely on Lei Qian. If that man's attention was diverted before they could even get their shares of supplies, how would they survive?

After all, Lei Qian was only a human being. How many supplies could he get even if he tried his best? With such a troublesome situation, if Lei Qian were to become a father, the one who would suffer the most would be them. Because of how much Lei Qian hated them, they would never get enough supplies. And if a child were thrown in the mix, the already fewer supplies would turn even messier.

He turned to look at his grandfather and said to him, "I don't mean anything like harm, grandpa. I am just saying that we have no idea who this woman named Bai Meiyue is; isn't it troublesome to let a woman with no background give birth to the Lei family heir? After all, our family is one of the families with the oldest history in the city. Are we going to ruin it all for a woman?"

Lei Qian took a step forward, most possibly swinging his hands at Lei Wu, who called Bai Meiyue a woman with no background, but before he could do that, Old Master Lei waved his hand and said to his two grandsons, "What history? The world is coming to an end. Is there any history that we need to preserve? At this moment, we only need to worry about how to survive these dangerous times. Who cares about preserving the history and whatnot?"

"Grandpa—" Lei Wu began, but Old Master Lei raised his head and looked at the man with a hint of annoyance on his face. He said to him softly, "Lei Wu, I know what you are thinking, but there is no need to worry. As long as I am here, you and your family will not starve."

With his thoughts out in the open, Lei Wu's face turned red. He wanted to say something to his grandfather, but his mother shook her head. She looked at Old Master Lei with a calculative look on her face and tugged the wrist of her son before pulling him out of the ward.
