Bai Meiyue watched the snake slither away and shook her head. She opened the box that the black mamba had brought for her and took a look inside it. Bai Meiyue thought that the little thing might have brought crystal nuclei just like the weasels. But who would have thought that, other than crystal nuclei, he even brought a jade Buddha statue for her? It wasn’t small, which explained why the little snake was having a hard time pulling this box along with him.
Bai Meiyue: "..."
If she had known that the little snake brought this little surprise for her, then she would have given him more golden pills. Never mind, it was not their last meeting. The next time, she would give that little snake more golden pills.
With the jade Buddha in her hands, Bai Meiyue exchanged more points with the system and, at the same time, exchanged a lot of fish with the barter system. This city was close to the sea, and many of the mansions here had ponds that could be used to raise fish. She thought about it a little and decided to release some fish in these ponds. These survivors were working hard these past few days and deserved a little treat.
Thus, in the evening, when the workers came to get their pay, they were given a huge box of live fish and were asked to raise them in the ponds behind their houses. It was quite a pleasant surprise for the workers!
"So many fish!"
"There are so many fish! Haha, if I raise them, I wouldn’t have to worry about starving to death."
The sun in the sky was like a ball of fire that was way too close to their world, and yet the workers felt refreshed. They were more than satisfied when they saw normal fish inside the boxes that were given to them; even though they were now used to eating the meat of the mutated beasts, they still craved the taste of the chicken, mutton and fish that they used to eat in the past before the apocalypse started.
The survivors were really happy. The only person who was upset was Fu Wan. She looked at the many survivors who were carrying boxes of fish with them, and her temper rose to the sky. She picked up the vase that was sitting next to the couch and hurled it at Xiao Chenye, who barely dodged it.
Fu Wan pursed her lips. She had to admit that what Xiao Chenye was saying was indeed correct, but she didn’t want to accept it. She was a new mother, and she had to feed her son every now and then; her breasts were getting tender. If this went on, then she would really end up becoming weak with each passing day. Of course, this was all in Fu Wan’s mind. She only fed her son less than two times a day, and the rest of the time, the new mothers who had a lot of milk were the ones who were feeding the young master of the Bai family at the request of Old Master Bai.
She had no idea that what she took as hard work was carelessness in the eyes of Old Master Bai, and he was waiting for his grandson to arrive, such that he could relay everything that Fu Wan had done. This was, however, a story for another time.
"Then how about you ask for some from Old Master Bai?" Fu Wan licked her lips as she recalled the taste of fish soup that she was used to drinking. "He will be able to give you some, right?"
"Old Master Bai doesn’t have any either."
