However, he could not say anything to Bai Meiyue given that he was on someone else’s turf. Bai Wenxuan raised his head and slowly asked, "Then how is my son?" Though he did not question Bai Meiyue directly, his expression was enough to relay what he was thinking. Seeing the look in his eyes, Bai Meiyue sneered coldly. "Do I look like someone who will torture a baby? No matter how bad I am, I am still better than that woman— at least I am not deliberately starving him."
Bai Wenxuan’s face turned dark when he heard her response. So Yang Wei starved his son as well?
Bai Meiyue did not say anything more. She had no intention to waste any more of her time with Bai Wenxuan; this man was too suspicious of every little thing, and she did not have the time to play with him. She turned on her feet and said to Xiao Wu, "Go and ask Shen Zhen to bring Yang Wei’s son."
She had no intention of keeping the child under her control now that the child’s father was here.
When Bai Wenxuan saw Bai Meiyue walking inside the mansion, he turned to look at Fox. He silently wondered what Bai Meiyue was doing or whether it was alright for him to follow her inside the mansion. Upon noticing his sworn brother’s gaze, Fox nodded at him. If Bai Meiyue wanted to kick them out, then she would have done so. Given that she had not made a move yet, it meant that she was willing to let the two inside the mansion.
Bai Wenxuan closed his eyes and then turned on his feet before directing his wheelchair inside the mansion. He looked around the warmly lit hall, and his heart could not help but soften. Ever since the doomsday arrived, he had been running around the entire world. Only he knew how he arrived back in the country with his crippled body. If not for the fact that his family had countless connections, Bai Wenxuan was worried that he would never be able to get rid of the pesky pests that were following him.
Fortunately, he was lucky enough to run into the team of awakened users who helped him through the obstacles.
Now looking at the homely atmosphere in the mansion, he could not help but feel a little homesick. When everything was alright, the Bai mansion was just as warmly lit as Bai Meiyue’s. Maybe this was their comeuppance. In the past, it was Bai Meiyue and her family who were suffering, and now it was their family who were suffering at the hands of fate.
"Do you want something to drink?" Bai Meiyue had no intention of having any small talk with Bai Wenxuan, but when she took another look at the man, she realised that he was looking rather sick. In the moonlight, he did not look any different, but under the countless warm lights, he looked paler than the rest, and there were heavy dark circles under his eyes. He looked thin and tired as if he hadn’t had days of rest.
Seeing him like this, Bai Meiyue was worried that the man might drop dead right in front of her, if that happened, what would she do then? It was better to give him something to drink before he fainted.
