"Are you going somewhere?" Lei Yan walked over. She was covered in dirt, and from the looks of it, the mission this time was not a simple one.
When Bai Meiyue saw her covered in dirt, she could not help but frown in slight worry. "What happened?"
She hurriedly walked over and did a quick scan. Only when she was sure that Lei Yan was not injured and only had a few scratches on her face did she calm down. However, the worry in her heart was not eased, and she repeated, "Did something happen?"
"It seems like the zombies are evolving." Lei Yan was too tired and wanted to go back and have some rest, but when she thought about the zombies that she had to deal with while she was on the mission, Lei Yan decided that they needed to relay the news to Bai Meiyue first. After all, she was the one who was managing the safe base. "You have no idea, but not only have they gotten stronger, but they are much more agile and sharp-witted than before. They had learnt to hide in the morning and make a move at night. When we were scavenging in City B, there were many times when we were ambushed by the zombies."
Lei Yan paused and then added, "And there have been some missing reports. It seems like countless children who were awakened are missing. I heard from a few teams that I ran into that many children were taken away from their parents as soon as they awakened. No one knows where they were taken away."
Bai Meiyue was not surprised after she heard Lei Yan’s report. It had been quite a few months since the end of the world arrived. There was nothing surprising about the zombies evolving. But the thing that made her eyes darken was the missing reports of children. It seemed like that man had started making the awakening pills. Even if they were not on the market yet, Bai Meiyue knew that the man was already working on it.
If she were not wrong, then it would take him less than six months to create the first pill.
"Is that so? No one stopped them?" Bai Meiyue asked. Since the teams witnessed it happening, why did no one stop those people from kidnapping the children? What were they thinking would happen to the children if they were taken away?
When Lei Yan heard her question, her eyes could not help but darken. "Why would they help those people? The children do not belong to them, and the one who snatched the children is from the capital. It seems like they are from a very high-profile family. No one dared to make things difficult for them." She thought of something and added, "And there were many families who basically sold their children for some food resources, since they were willing what could anyone do to stop them? They were willing to sell, and the other person was willing to buy."
