Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies novel Chapter 88

A ruthless glint flashed in her eyes but Bai Meiyue restrained herself in time. She knew that she was unable to do anything to Zhou Jinchuan at present. That man had enough ties with the higher-ups, and she believed that the man must have enough weapons to protect himself at the moment. But that didn’t mean that she would not be able to deal a blow to that man.

She curled her lips and thought, ’The future is very long; there is no need for me to rush.’

She turned to look at Xie Yie, who was sitting on the floor of the hospital and questioned, "How much gold did Official Zhou promise Lu Ling?"

"I believe that it’s at least fifty kilograms," replied the skinny man promptly. His rat-like face twitched when he spoke and he looked behind them as if worried that Lu Ling would rush out and hold him accountable.

Fifty?

Though it was not much, it was not little either.

She further questioned, "And where exactly is the deal taking place?"

Realising that the woman was hooked by the deal, Xie Yie smiled so hard that his eyes narrowed. "Boss, the deal is supposed to take place at the factory over the cliff, right next to the Zhu district. There is a lot of inventory of solar panels, diesels, quilts, a yacht, and grain. Official Zhou prepared these in exchange for the weapons that Boss Lu had prepared alongside the fifty kilograms of gold."

"Will Official Zhou be coming there?" Bai Meiyue asked and the man chuckled upon hearing her question.

He said, "Of course not, Miss. Why would the big boss come down to handle such a small deal? He left his men in charge. Don’t tell me you are planning on raiding the warehouse of the factory? The boss there is not simple; he can knock out more than ten people together."

Bai Meiyue was not worried about this matter. She simply said to the man in front of her, "Are you willing to take me to the warehouse? If you are, then you can take twenty boxes of supplies, including five boxes of weapons."

She could, of course, make this man give her the exact address if she wanted but Bai Meiyue could see that Xie Yi was a smart man. If she formed a link with him, he would come in handy in the future.

When Xie Yi heard that he could take twenty boxes of supplies, he was moved. Though he was a thug, he was also scared after seeing the world plunge into such a horrifying condition. Unlike the officials, he did not know anything about this disaster and had prepared nothing.

By the time he realised that something was wrong, it was too late. He could only suck up to people like Lu Ling and hope that he would get something in return but that man was petty and a miser. No matter how hard he worked, Lu Ling only gave him one or two boxes of supplies.

Compared to him, Bai Meiyue was much more generous. She was willing to take out at least twenty boxes.

Bai Meiyue, who had the information of the past and the present, knew that there was no point in waiting for the government officials. As they were the first one to bolt the second, they knew that things were going south. These officials first established the bases with enough manpower to consolidate their strength and only once they had settled themselves with that hideous syndicate did they send people to be rescued.

By then the zombies had evolved and it became even more dangerous for people to step out of their homes.

Compared to that, Bai Meiyue thought that this was the correct time to hunt for supplies. The chances of getting supplies were higher and the zombies were weak as well.

"It seems like they cannot smell us with this much water," Xie Yi whispered as he looked at the zombies that were walking around on the water-filled street while muttering ho ho. "When I and Boss Lu were in the hospital, they jumped on us the second they smelled us."

With some of the zombies having their eye sockets empty, Xie Yi deduced that these things relied on their other senses to detect humans.

Bai Meiyue did not say anything when she heard his words. How was she supposed to tell that the reason these monsters were not attacking them had nothing to do with the water in the street; it was her who was masking their scent and the noise of the motorboat? If not, they would have been attacked by now!

Not wanting this man to do something foolish when she was not with him, Bai Meiyue still kindly advised him, "Don’t step out without proper protection and weapons in your hands. These things are still weak and can’t do much harm but who knows what will happen later on?"
