Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Ethan wraps up his call, looks at me like I’m dirt.
Fiona, don’t let trash ruin the party.”
Then to me, pure disgust in his eyes.
“Alright, we met. I’ll tell Grandpa we’re not compatible. You can leave now.”
Today’s the Blackwood retreat. Grandpa wanted me here-meet Ethan, see if we click over food and fun.
I finally look at him properly.
Gotta hand it to Grandpa-the man’s got taste.
Ethan’s tall, sharp custom suit, old money confidence radiating off him.
Only problem? He’s staring at me like I’m garbage. Same look Fiona had.
I smile coldly.
“First time meeting, and this is Blackwood family manners-
He cuts me off.
“Save it. You don’t even know what Blackwood Corp is. Fiona’s right-you’re some backwoods nobody. Think you’re on my level?”
“Just go. We’re done here.”
“What the hell was Grandpa thinking with this arranged marriage bullshit? Disgusting.”
I pause.
Even if he doesn’t know who I am… I showed up. Least he could do is let me finish a meal.
Now he won’t even let me have water before kicking me out?
Fuck this.
Funny. I’m wondering the same thing about my Grandpa.” My voice drops. “What made him think you were worth my time?”
“Didn’t even let me finish one sentence. Bet you don’t know my name. And you’re standing here insulting me?” I laugh, sharp and cold. “You don’t even have basic respect. That’s what’s disgusting.”
Ethan blinks, actually surprised.
“I’m not worth your time?”
“Look at yourself. Look at this estate. This is Blackwood property. You think you’re in my league?”
He’s scanning my outfit now, lip curling.
Look what you’re wearing. Bargain bin garbage. Your whole outfit costs less than my socks. Where do you get off saying I’m not good enought
1 have no clue what Grandpa was thinking. All those elite families to choose from-and he picks you. Some classless small town nobody.”
glance down at my clothes.
Not designer labels, sure. But custom Italian, hand-stitched by my family’s private tailor. He’s calling it trash?

Chapter 2
Hilarious.
The employees burst out laughing.
“Classic Ethan! Brutal as always with gold-diggers.”
“Heard old Mr. Blackwood and her grandpa go way back. Only reason this arrangement exists. But damn… she’s way beneath him.”
“For real. If Ethan actually married her? Total waste.”
The chatter gets louder.
I’m genuinely confused.
Why’s Ethan acting like the victim? I never said I was dying to marry him.
After today? Even If I wanted to, Grandpa would never allow it.
“Fine. Since you said it.”
Just hope you can handle the consequences this brings to Blackwood Corp. Bye. Forever.”
I turn to leave.
fiona’s voice cuts through.
Bitch! Stop right there!”
freeze. Turn back.
What now?
he’s smirking, eyes gleaming with malice.
You ruined my dress. How are we settling that?”
than finally notices her soaked outfit. His face goes white.
That’s Chanel from this year’s Paris auction. One of a kind. Not just expensive-collectible. Water damage destroys it completely.”
