Chapter 6
Chapter 6
He looked like absolute shit. Eyes bloodshot, hadn’t slept in days, so skinny he was practically a skeleton.
The old me would’ve fallen apart seeing him like this. Would’ve babied him, asked what was wrong, probably whipped up his favorite comfort
food.
Now? I kept my distance and whipped out the divorce papers.
“Sign it.”
My tone could’ve frozen fire. He stared at my security detail, totally clueless.
Then he spotted those magic words: “DIVORCE AGREEMENT.”
Completely lost his shit.
“Divorce? Luna, no! You swore we’d be together forever! What happened to everything we built?”
Everything we built?
Every kiss, every promise, every goddamn lie. I remembered it all.
But he torched every beautiful moment the second he fed me to those wolves for his side piece.
Lucky my family still gave a fuck, or this psycho would’ve literally gotten away with murder.
Watching him play the heartbroken husband just turned my stomach.
“Sign. The. Papers.” Not asking twice.
He went completely unhinged. Shredded the documents and lunged at me.
My guys flattened him instantly.
I strolled over and backhanded him so hard I probably left fingerprints.
“Reality check time?”
“You actually hit me? Luna, how could you-”
I burst out laughing.
This jackass is still playing victim? Seriously?
Over his drama. Pulled out the backup set.
My team grabbed his hand, made him scrawl his name and stamp his bloody print.
Done deal. I turned and bounced.
No big speech. No threats.
Left him sprawled there like roadkill.

Chapter 6
Word of Carter’s return spread like wildfire.
Everyone knew he’d been combing that desert for his “precious wife.”
Coming back solo? She was obviously buzzard food.
Not that anyone actually gave a shit about me.
What really mattered was his empire crumbling while he was playing desert hermit.
No major catastrophes yet, but abandoning your wife for some secretary? Investors were bailing left and right.
Especially the smart ones who knew my real connections.
