Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1651

Chapter 1651: Defective?

Whisker raised his arm as his eyes glowed crimson.

"Open."

The massive, ancient-looking gate behind him creaked, before snapping open with a violent jolt.

From its depths, grotesque beasts, wild, twisted, and fearsome, spilled out in a relentless wave.

They crashed into the army of Eldros with overwhelming force, sending shockwaves blasting out.

The beasts tore through the army without hesitation. Fierce jaws clamped down on skulls, razor-sharp claws carved through bodies as though they were nothing more than soft bark.

Still, a faint frown formed on Whisker’s face a moment later.

Though his beasts clearly had the upper hand, Eldros’ clones seemed endless. For every one he tore apart, several more took its place as though the forest itself was birthing them.

His manifestation allowed him to summon only the corpses of beasts he had killed, which meant his numbers were finite.

Already, he could see some of his summons being swallowed by a surge of Eldros’ clones, dragged down and torn apart under sheer numbers.

At this pace, he would be overrun.

A low, mocking laughter echoed from every direction.

"Do you see it now? You really thought revenge was enough to stand before me? Nothing has changed, little brother. You’re still the same helpless fool."

Whisker’s expression darkened as the army suddenly broke through his lines and surged toward him in a crushing tide.

He exhaled slowly.

"Transform."

His fangs elongated, thickening into vicious points as his hair lengthened and fell behind him.

Razor-sharp claws rippled out from his fingers, and his eyes burned with a deep, savage crimson light that seemed to stain the air around him.

With a feral roar, Whisker vanished, flashing through the clones and appearing behind them. In the same breath, their bodies split apart, severed cleanly into pieces. He did not stop. Before the remains had even hit the ground, he was already moving again.

He became a blur tearing across the forest, carving through the army of Eldros with brutality. Heads flew, bodies were ripped apart mid-motion, and countless clones were reduced to nothing in an instant. The ground was painted in ruin.

Yet the swarm did not slow, nor did it thin.

If anything, it grew.

Whisker’s gaze grew colder.

...

Eldros was seated comfortably on a wooden chair, watching the scene of Whisker battling his clones with a calculating glint in his eyes.

’I can still escape this.’

If he could finish this battle before Atticus and the High Judicator concluded theirs, he would still have enough time to disappear. However...

Eldros’ gaze slowly grew cold.

’I just have to kill him.’

On the screen, Whisker blurred through his clones, tearing them apart. From the look in his eyes, Eldros could tell he was searching for him.

’Ha... a waste of time.’

The reason he was feared, even among other nature spawn, was because of the flawless synchronization between his aspect and manifestation.

His aspect allowed him to create perfect replicas of himself in both presence and appearance, copies that could not be discerned, as long as the observer’s will wasn’t stronger than his.

Paired with a manifestation of an enchanted forest where he could become any tree within it, the combination was too great.

Right now, every tree in the forest was him.

And he was attacking from all sides.

No matter how much Whisker searched, he would never find the real one.

’Soon.’

He was barely expending any energy maintaining this illusion. Unlike him, Whisker was burning through his reserves at a visible rate. Eldros had already noticed the beasts had stopped pouring from the gate.

Which meant the manifestation was reaching its limit.

Eldros exhaled softly.

’Fool.’

A flicker of irritation surfaced. Ever since he had discovered Whisker in the Core, he had been planning how much amusement he would derive from breaking him. But to think Whisker would be the one to approach him first...

Eldros’ eyes hardened.

The boy needed to be reminded of his place.

He fixed his gaze on Whisker through the screen, his lips curling faintly.

"I can see you’ve awakened your aspect," he said, his voice carrying lightly through the forest. "And yet... it suits you. Defective."

His smile widened slightly as Whisker’s gaze sharpened.

"You turn into the beasts you’ve killed, don’t you?"

He had already noticed similarities between Whisker’s current appearance and those of his creatures.

"...How underwhelming." Eldros muttered.

"But then again... I expected nothing more."

On the screen, Whisker suddenly snapped his gaze toward a particular direction and vanished, tearing straight through a tree. His frown deepened as the severed remains of Eldros liquefied the next moment.

Eldros’ loud, amused laughter echoed through the forest.

Whisker’s gaze snapped to another direction, flashing before a tree. He tore through it, and his eyes sharpened as he saw the startled Eldros seated on a wooden chair.

Whisker vanished.

Before Eldros could react, a claw drove deep into his chin, piercing straight through his brain.

Whisker’s lips stretched into a savage grin.

"Found you."

"Urk—!"

Greenish blood oozed from Eldros’ eyes and ears as he stared at Whisker with a trembling gaze.

Then, slowly, Eldros lips stretched into a wide, sickening grin, his eyes glowing with a savage light.

"...Did you?"

Whisker’s eyes sharpened, but before he could react, Eldros detonated in a roaring explosion that hurled him away.

Squelch!

Within the choking haze that engulfed the area, a sickening sound echoed.

A moment later, the haze cleared, revealing Whisker, his chest pierced clean through by one of Eldros’ clones.
